Ever get a feeling of déjà vu while you're watching The X Factor? That's because after 11 series and hundreds of contestants, the live shows have seen a whopping 728 tracks performed so far. But like a wedding DJ reaching for his failsafe party anthems CD, the top five most popular songs have been dusted off and rolled out over 33 times between them.
Our geeky rules state that we're counting all live show performances and group songs, but not repeat performances from the same act in the same series.
=5. 'Feeling Good': 6 performances
Performed by: Beverley Trotman, Rachel Hylton, Stacey Solomon, James Arthur, Rebecca Ferguson, Andrea Faustini
Made famous by Nina Simone, this classic usually pops up in the traditional 'Big Band Week', and is a good excuse for an act to show off their sultry side. Stacey had a go with Michael Bublé in 2009, while Andrea tried out a more powerhouse version last year.

The X Factor wrapped up filming on its auditions yesterday, and you know what that means - the show's even closer to being back! And boy, what a treat we're in for if these previous auditions are anything to go by.
The audition stages always throw up some weird and wonderful acts, so we've collected just 13 of the best (and most bonkers) that remind us why we're so excited about The X Factor's return...
1. George Gerasimou (and Dermot telling him off)
Where do we even start? This is one of our favourite auditions ever. It starts off on a positive note as George explains that he has grown up since his awful try-out with Triple Trouble - but then as soon as Gary calls an early stop to the music, George kicks off big time, snarling all the while, and his mate joins him on stage to back him up.

He's been working on his new album with some amazing people," said the ex-biscuit factory worker. Some TV viewers tuning in to the first season premiere of The X Factor last night may have been a bit confused when judge Cheryl Cole suddenly vanished after the first rounds of auditions. With no discussion or explanation, Cole’s seat was abruptly filled by former Sing-Off judge and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.
If you have been following the evolution of the American version of The X Factor online, you were probably already aware that Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole didn’t last as an X Factor judge past the first audition round. The question of why she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, however, still remains somewhat unresolved. There had been some rumor that Cole’s accent was uncomfortable to American viewers, but X Factor judge and boss Simon Cowell said that wasn’t it.

Katie Waissel’s mum has defended her quirky daughter, saying that she is a ‘lovely girl!’
The X Factor finalist has already developed a reputation for being a bit of a diva and many fans were outraged when the judges decided to save her and not boyband Fyd on Sunday night’s results show.
However, her mum Diana thinks the public’s reaction has been unfair and has compared Katie’s treatment by the media, to that of Danyl Johnson last year.
Diana told The Sun:
“There seems to be this thing that Katie has got someone else’s place.
“I don’t know why everyone is blaming her. It happened last year in a way to Danyl and he was a good singer and he was a nice guy and he was pushed out.
“I don’t want that to happen to Katie. She is a team player and a lovely girl.

Louis Walsh and Westlife star Kian Egan will both star in an ITV2 reality TV show, as they try to launch a new British girlband named Wonderland.
The group consist of five girls, including Kian’s wife and former Hollyoaks actress Jodi Albert, and both men will try to ensure that they top the charts and become the new Girls Aloud.
Louis told The Sun:
“Wonderland will definitely be the biggest girlband in the world come the end of next year.
“These girls really have something special.”
He added:
“It’s great that the girls have an ITV2 show already.”
Wonderland follow in the footsteps of Louis’ other band Jedward, who are currently starring in their own show on the same channel titled ‘Jedward Let Loose!’ It looks like Louis is keeping his options open, in case Simon does axe him from The X Factor or cancels the show altogether.

Shirlena Johnson may face the axe from The X Factor, as sources suggest that she is too unstable to be able to cope with fame.
The single mum was featured in Saturday night’s X Factor show, waxing lyrical about operatic training from a former vocal coach of Shirley Bassey. No doubt the judges were expecting an amazing talent – they got something else altogether.
For her audition piece, Shirlena launched into a bizarre version of Duffy’s Mercy, but strangely chanted and spoke more than she sang. Simon Cowell told her she was ‘absolutely mad’ and compared her performance to a ‘musical exorcism’ but liked Shirl enough to send her through to bootcamp.
However, medical sources claim that Shirlena should now be put off the show, because she is more fragile that Susan Boyle and she has a child that would be impacted if she went off the rails.

Olly Murs will replace Jedward at a Scottish concert later this month.
The X Factor twins pulled out of the event for ‘personal reasons’ but it is thought that Edward may still be suffering with the ankle injury he incurred at T4′s Party On The Beach last month.

In stark contrast to the furious "American Idol" news stream of the past several days, the show's Television Critics Association press conference on Monday came and went with nary a noteworthy announcement.
That's probably Ok with Fox and "Idol," seeing that, after nine seasons, the hit reality show has arguably never been more vulnerable:
Ratings are down from their 2006 high, Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres have abandoned their judges' chairs, and rumors are swirling that Kara DioGuardi is heading for the exit too — all after what many fans see as the show's most underwhelming season in the show's history.
As "Idol" stumbles amid cast controversy and declining ratings, Cowell is gearing up to bring "The X Factor," his hit U.

Sinitta is furious to have been fired from The X Factor.
The former pop star landed herself in a bit of hot water this week when she launched a new website, claiming to be able to help people get on the ITV show. She has since received an angry phonecall from show staff, been ignored by her best pal Simon Cowell and was threatened with legal action if the X Factor section of her new site wasn’t removed.
Proving that taking to Twitter while feeling emotional isn’t always a good idea, Sinitta unleashed to her followers in a series of tweets last night. She wrote:

Simon Cowell has passed on the chance to sign X Factor stars Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon and Danyl Johnson to his record label.
A source told The News Of The World: “Simon has decided he won’t have anything to do with them in a professional sense going forward.
“He doesn’t have anything against the guys but wants to concentrate on turning Joe McElderry into a star. They’ve got a contract with Butlins to perform at summer school holiday gigs. And they’re making £100,000 from The X Factor tour – but this is still a massive blow.”
Last night a spokeswoman for Cowell’s label Syco added: “We never guarantee contracts for anyone other than the X Factor winner and this year we’ve decided to focus on Joe.
“However, we understand there is interest in other finalists from many parts of the musical industry and we hope they all do very well.

Now that Simon Cowell has announced that he will vacate his "American Idol" judge's chair after nine seasons to settle in for a U.S. version of "The X Factor," the question for many fans was: What is "The X Factor"?
Currently shown in 17 countries across the world — from Australia to Morocco to Spain — "X Factor" is a reality competition that Cowell created and appears on as a judge. While it incorporates elements of "Idol," it also differs in several key areas. Similarities between "Factor" and "Pop Idol" (the progenitor of "American Idol") actually became the focus of a lawsuit between "Idol" creators Simon Fuller and Cowell. In the settlement, Fuller and his 19 Entertainment received a minority stake in "Factor."

The voting percentages for this series of The X Factor have been released. The statistics show that Joe McElderry won the show with 61.3% of the public votes, compared to Olly Murs's 38.7%. McElderry also received the most public votes in week seven, eight, nine and in the first part of the final, which took place yesterday. Danyl Johnson topped the vote in the first week with 27.1%, but only received 6.5% in the second week and 7.6% in week three, when he was in the bottom two with Miss Frank. However, he went on to receive the most votes in week four and week five. The statistics also reveal that John & Edward would have stayed in the competition over Murs if the judges had decided to take the result to deadlock. While the twins had received 10.7% of the vote, Murs had just 9.8%. The other contestants who received the most votes were Stacey Solomon,...

Do you want the good news, or the bad news*? Here it is, then: McG says that he plans to make two more Terminator movies. The Artist Never Known As Joseph McGinty revealed his desire on a Bd-Live commentary for Terminator Salvation last night, although annoyingly nobody seems to have transcribed his actual quotes. And no, we weren’t watching it either – we were too busy trying to get over the sudden departure of Danyl Johnson in The X Factor. But it seems that McG did express an interest to complete the trilogy that Salvation, with its open-ended climax, would seem to hint at. Of course, the rights for the Terminator franchise are currently in flux, as the previous holders, Halcyon Entertainment, are selling them off in February, with Sony or Summit considered to be amongst the frontrunners to get them. And, even though Salvation pulled in a disappointing $371 million worldwide,...

"The X Factor" is trimming down its contestants to mere three with the departure of Danyl Johnson on Sunday, December 6. The schoolteacher was denied the chance to be in the final when the public vote did not encourage him to move forward. "I might have gone out in the semi-final but I've gone out to some of the best people I've ever met," he said upon his exit.
The 27-year-old was personally mentored by Simon Cowell. The judge expressed his disappointment toward Johnson's exit, saying "There was nothing more he could have done. He's gone out on a high. He's a gracious loser." Johnson said that he would not give up on singing and would do a couple of gigs after going home.

Danyl Johnson’s mum has blasted Simon Cowell and The X Factor today, claiming that they have set her son up to gain extra publicity for the show.
Maria Burgess says that Simon Cowell has favoured Olly Murs over her son from day one, giving him better songs and routines whilst Danyl is just used as tabloid fodder.
Speaking to The Sunday Mirror Maria said:
“Danyl’s very upset and frustrated at the way he is being treated. He feels he’s not being given a fair chance and that Olly keeps getting more up-tempo songs.
“And he’s not getting all the bells and whistles. He’s lucky if he gets a perspex box to stand on when he’s performing, while the others have much bigger productions. The week he got a choir, we thought, ‘Wow, they have really pushed the boat out’.”
“The situation is that Simon Cowell knows best.

The X Factor judges are said to be furious with Danyl Johnson over his reported diva like behaviour this week. Everybody ready for what promises to be a controversial results show? Cheryl and Dannii are rocking the outlandish frocks, Louis and Simon aren’t. Dermot’s giving us the run-down of tonight’s episode, and the ensemble performance is about to begin…
They’re doing Bohemian Rhapsody tonight. Ambitious! Because Rhapsody is such a long song, they’ve picked out highlights from it, which sounds a little bit like fast-forwarding through the song somewhat. It only gets really good when Brian May and Roger Taylor make their appearance. What? The guitar solo continues while Brian May’s hand is in the air. Seems the contestants aren’t the only ones miming tonight!
Still, nice to see the old dogs rocking the stage. Even if they couldn’t remember Stacey’s name…

Hello again, lovely blog readers! It’s that time of the night where we sit back and reflect on the performances that we saw. And yes, we sit in judgement, because we don’t trust everything that Louis Walsh says, and we know that Simon will give his own acts the highest praise.
But really, who were the best and the worst of X Factor’s Movie Week? Well, let’s review (and you can give your own opinions in the comments, as always!)
Jamie Archer – Jamie sang a version of Crying from a little-known movie, but excelled by giving an emotional and powerful performance. He showed yet again that his strength might actually be outside of the rock style the show has lumbered him with. Lucie Jones – A relatively unknown song choice for Lucie tonight, which might cost her in the phone votes when people don’t identify with it.
