That's because a slew of acts are up for top prizes, from fun. to Frank Ocean to Mumford & Sons. Those performers are nominated for six trophies, as are Kanye West, Jay-z and Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys.
We here at The Associated Press let you know who to put money on when the awards show airs live Sunday from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. Est on CBS. Now if only we could agree.

Not to mention that Huey Lewis name-checked it in his epic ode to music, “The Heart of Rock and Roll.” So, aside from the obvious nods to the

Taylor Swift, reuniting with LL Cool J to co-host the Grammy Nominations Concert Wednesday night (Sept. 5), might not have conquered all musical genres yet.
Welcoming the hip-hop actor to "her town," Nashville, T-Swizzle beatboxed while he sang "Mean." Fortunately, their performance was short: there were plenty of acts and even a few nominations to follow. The co-host herself scored a nod (Record of the Year for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together Again") -- but Fun. led the night with nominations in all the major categories.
Here's what went down in Music City:

Nashville, Tenn. -- Everyone's got a theory about what goes into winning the Country Music Association's entertainer of the year award.
Martina McBride thinks it should go to the artist who makes the strongest connection with fans. Jason Aldean and Kenny Chesney put an emphasis on rear ends – the ones in the seats at their concerts. Ronnie Dunn sums it up this way: "A lot of politics."
Brad Paisley, the reigning entertainer of the year, thinks it's about giving fans the most for their money.

"There is some aspect of that award that's (about) who shot the lasers over the crowd, who swung from ropes, and I think it's kind of cool that we're all sort of dancing monkeys willing to go the extra mile to entertain."

After being forced to give up her No. 1 position on Billboard Hot 200 to Lady GaGa for two weeks in a row, Adele bounces back to the hot spot this week. The British singer/songwriter comes back reclaiming the penthouse of the weekly rundown with her sophomore set "21" which sells another 114,000 copies.
The album has so far pulled in around 2.2 million copies since making its way out across the country in late February this year, becoming a strong contender for best-selling album of the year. It hit 1 million mark by April, making Adele the first artist to rake in such a whopping sale number this year.

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Celebrity News Service) - After relinquishing the top spot for two weeks to Lady Gaga's massive "Born This Way," Adele returns to the top spot with 21, selling another 114,000 copies for its tenth week at #1. Gaga follows with "Born This Way" slipping to #2 in its third week, selling 100,000 copies.
But the biggest chart news this week is the massive jump made by the original Broadway cast recording of "The Book of Mormon," the now Tony Award-winning musical from "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Following its big awards sweep, the "Book of Mormon" album jumped from outside the Billboard 200 all the way to #3, selling 61,000 copies (it initially debuted four weeks ago at #31, selling 13,000). That's the best chart performance for a Broadway cast album since 1969's "Hair" and the highest sales tally since Soundscan started reporting in 1991.

What a difference a week — and a price higher than 99 cents — makes. While Lady Gaga will hold on to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week, sales for Born This Way were down a whopping 84 percent in its second go-round, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, plummeting from more than 1.1 million to just over 174,000. A new Florida rule stops felons from voting long after they've served their time. Is it tough-on-crime posturing-or a way to keep Obama from winning the state in 2012?
The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, with one out of every 32 Americans locked up or on probation or parole at any given time. But some lawmakers think that's not quite harsh enough.

Oh “Crazy Heart,” what have you started? Last year, Jeff Bridges earned unanimous critical acclaim as a down-on-his-luck country singer who falls for a younger woman.
This year’s entry in the country music pseudo-biopic genre is Shana Feste’s “Country Strong,” the story of a fallen country music star (Gwyneth Paltrow) who gets involved with a young singer (Garrett Hedlund) and hits the road with her ex-husband/manager (Tim McGraw). Wanna guess what the soundtrack consists of?
The soundtrack to Shana Feste’s romantic triangle drama could double as Country Music 101, with outlaw country, country pop, country rock and cry-in-your-beer ballads all represented.
Recalling Bridges’ four musical contributions to the “Crazy Heart” soundtrack, this album combines professional singers like Faith Hill and Hank Williams Jr. with the film’s protagonists. And while Leighton Meester’s cover of Rascal Flatts’ “Words I Couldn’t Say” falls, um, flatts,...

Taylor Swift became the youngest ever winner of the coveted Songwriter of the Year prize at the Bmi Country Awards on Tuesday, November 9 night. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter was the toast of the awards show, which celebrates the most played songs on U.S. radio and television, and took the night's top prize, making her the youngest artist ever to land the coveted trophy.
The record was previously held by Bill Anderson, who won the honor in 1960 at the age of 23, and Johnny Cash, who won in 1956 when he was 24 years old. Swift also scored her third consecutive Bmi Country Song of the Year title for her hit track "You Belong With Me", making her the first songwriter to win the prize three years in a row.

Beside singing solo in the title track of "Country Strong" soundtrack album, Gwyneth Paltrow will also join forces with her co-star Tim McGraw in another song called "Me and Tennessee". The track is written by Paltrow's singer husband Chris Martin.
The album is due to arrive in the U.S. market on October 26 with 13 songs appearing on the tracklisting. The other actors who record songs for the compilation set are Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund. They sing "Words I Couldn't Say" and "Chances Are" respectively.
Gwyneth Paltrow is no stranger to music. She has previously re-recorded Smokey Robinson's 1979 single "Cruisin' " for soundtrack of 2000 movie "Duets" and once ruled Adult Contemporary Singles chart with the revamped version. Though so, she still reached out to Chris Martin to polish her skill. She reportedly asked the Coldplay member to teach her how to play guitar.

Yes, she sings - and she's got her own songwriter at home. In the movie Country Strong (due in January), Gwyneth Paltrow plays a washed-up country singer opposite Tim McGraw as her husband-manager. For the costars' duet, "Me and Tennessee," they turned to none other than Paltrow's husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. " 'Me and Tennessee' is a special song that perfectly fits the movie," says Paltrow, who first sang on screen in the 2000 Duets and is reportedly going to sing on Glee this season. "It's about a couple who are maybe irreparably damaged," says Paltrow. "But then the chorus is,...

Keith Urban has stepped in to replace Brooks & Dunn at an upcoming Canadian country music festival after the duo scrapped a string of shows due to illness. The veteran country stars canceled their performance at the star-studded Nashville Rising charity gig in Tennessee last week, as well as two more shows in Virginia, after Ronnie Dunn came down with a sore throat.
