Michael Oher – the former NFL tackle whose story was the subject of the Oscar-winning The Blind Side – has apparently demanded Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy pony up $15 million in royalties from the movie after they allegedly exploited his life. And if they don’t, he’ll go right to the place where this sort of story flourishes: TMZ.
As per TMZ – who has obtained legal documents over the strife between Oher and the Tuohy family – the former football player would claim that the Tuohy family “robbed [him] of fifty million+”, although he significantly lowered the number to $10 million as the case progressed. After Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy rebuffed that number, he upped it to $15 million after taxes. Oher has allegedly continued his threats. According to one text, Oher wrote, “If something isn’t resolved this Friday, I’m going to go ahead and tell the world, how I was robbed...

Micahel Oher demanded that Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy stop calling themselves his parents after the termination of his conservatorship in a new court filing.
Oher has filed a motion to prevent the Tuohy’s from profiting off his name, image and likeness alongside claims that the Tuohy’s adopted Oher or are their adopted parents.
In court documents, which were filed on November 14 in the probate court of Shelby County, Tennessee, Oher claims that the Tuohys are continuing to “perpetuate false claims that they adopted him” and continuing with “book events” as Oher’s parents without his consent.
The filing was cited in response to an event at Eastern State Florida College in which Leigh Anne was scheduled to be one of the guest speakers with the description of her being “the adoptive mother of NFL football star Oher.”

The conservatorship between former NFL tackle Michael Oher and Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy – subjects of the 2009 Oscar-winning film The Blind Side – has ended. While this is just one move in the right direction for Michael Oher, the judge did not dismiss the case itself.
The case itself stems from Michael Oher claiming that the Tuohy family tricked him into signing paperwork that made Leigh Ann and Sean conservators, even though he says he was led to believe he would be legally adopted by the couple. Adding to this, Oher alleges that the Tuohys used this status as a way to ensure he could not be properly financially compensated for The Blind Side.
At the time, the filing stated, “Michael Oher discovered this lie to his chagrin and embarrassment in February of 2023, when he learned that the Conservatorship to which he consented on the basis that doing so would make...

The conservatorship former NFL player and The Blind Side subject Michael Oher was entered into nearly 20 years ago by Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy has been terminated by a Memphis judge, the New York Times reported.
In August, the 37-year-old filed a petition seeking to end the conservatorship. In it, he claimed that he learned only in Feb. 2023 that the Tuohy family were never his actual parents, only his conservators with legal authority over his business deals. The conservatorship began in 2005, four months after he turned 18.

Judge Says She Is Ending Conservatorship Between Former NFL Player Michael Oher And The Tuohy Family
A Tennessee judge said Friday she is ending a conservatorship agreement between former NFL player Michael Oher and a Memphis couple who took him in when he was in high school, but the highly-publicized dispute over financial issues will continue.
Shelby County Probate Court Judge Kathleen Gomes said she is terminating the agreement reached in 2004 that allowed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to control Oher’s finances. Oher signed the agreement when he was 18 and living with the couple as he was being recruited by colleges as a star high school football player. Their story is the subject of the film “The Blind Side”, which earned Sandra Bullock an Oscar.
Gomes said she was not dismissing the case. Oher has asked that the Tuohys provide a financial accounting of money that may have come to them as part of the agreement, claiming that they used his name, image and likeness...

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy claim in new court docs that they referred to the NFL alum as a ‘son’ in the ‘colloquial sense.’
Sean Tuohy and Leigh Anne Tuohy have filed a response to Michael Oher‘s lawsuit. In the new legal documents, which Et obtained, the Tuohys deny Michael’s claim that they lied about adopting him and tricked him into making them his conservators in order to profit off of his story.
Rather, in the Tuohys’ response, the couple claims “they never intended to, and in fact never did, take any assumed legal custody” of Michael when they took him in as a teenager. Further, they “vehemently deny” that they told Michael “that they intended to legally adopt him.”
Even so, the Tuohys admit that they “occasionally referred to [Michael] as a son” and have “always felt [he] was like a son.” However, the Tuohys alleged that the word...

The producers behind the Academy Award-winning movie The Blind Side have published a detailed statement addressing a legal filing by former NFL player Michael Oher, whom the film depicts.
Oher’s lawsuit against Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy has questioned the movie’s accuracy. In a legal petition against the Tuohy’s, Oher claims that the couple lied about adopting him and that the two manipulated him at 18 into naming them his conservators. Oher also alleges that he didn’t get any of the box office profits that the Tuohy family received.
Blind Side producers Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are now defending the film as accurate.
“The Blind Side is verifiably authentic and will never be a lie or fake, regardless of the familial ups and downs that have occurred subsequent to the film. We are as proud of the film today as we were when our amazing collaborators made the movie 14 years ago,...

Who would have thought 2009’s The Blind Side would be tied to one of the strangest entertainment stories of 2023? Earlier this month, former pro football player Michel Oher launched a lawsuit that claims Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy exploited the story to profit millions of dollars without cutting Oher himself in. Now, producers on the Oscar-winning movie have chimed in, saying that it remains “authentic” despite what has and will come out during the legal battle.
In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, Broderick Johnson and Andrew A. Kosove – who earned Oscar nominations for producing The Blind Side – said, “The Blind Side is verifiably authentic and will never be a lie or fake, regardless of the familial ups and downs that have occurred subsequent to the film,” adding that the acts of the Tuohy parents and the spirit of the teenage Oher remain at the forefront. “We saw it in...

Alcon Entertainment, the company that produced The Blind Side, broke its silence Thursday after more than a week of the movie generating headlines as the subjects of the film traded accusations of ill-intentions and shakedowns. In a lawsuit filed Aug. 14, former NFL star and Blind Side subject Michael Oher said he was cheated out of profits for the film by the family at its center. But Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy have said they split profits from the movie with Oher and accused him of a $15 million “shakedown.”
Now Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove, the co-heads of Alcon, are defending their Oscar hit, released in 2009, calling the accusations that the film’s true story was fabricated “mischaracterizations and uninformed opinions.” They also released an accounting of payments made in relation to the life rights to the project. (The deal was initially made at Fox, but Alcon inherited it when the company acquired the film.

Michael Oher has been keeping his lawyers busy, with People reporting on a new legal filing this week claiming that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy had not shared any financial information with him in nearly two decades, with Oher alleging he “has been kept in the dark” the whole time.
Oher sued his puportedly adoptive parents — whose story was dramatized in 2009 Oscar winner “The Blind Side” — last week, alleging they never actually adopted him, but instead tricked him into signing a document placing him into a conservatorship. He’s asking that conservatorship, which began when he was 18, be ended.
In his new filing, the retired NFL player is seeking an accounting of his finances in order to determine how much money they’ve made from his name, giving the Tuohys a two-week deadline to comply.

The Blind Side, the acclaimed film that portrays the life of professional football player Michael Oher, has captivated audiences since its release. But how much of the story is grounded in reality?
According to Oher, the portrayal might not be as factual as many believe. Oher just released new claims that challenge the tale’s authenticity, shedding light on potentially manipulated truths and hidden facts.

Over the past week, some have called for Sandra Bullock to return the Academy Award she won for playing Leigh Anne Tuohy in 2009’s The Blind Side – and not because she didn’t deserve it. Rather, the outcry stems from former pro football player Michael Oher claiming that Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy never actually adopted him and instead used the story for financial gains, a discovery he made nearly 15 years after The Blind Side came out.
So, why are people calling for Sandra Bullock to return her Oscar for The Blind Side, which she won by beating out the likes of Meryl Streep and Helen Mirren? We’re afraid the attempts to find any logic within the situation have come up with absolutely nothing, since obviously (or so we thought…) the reception of The Blind Side and the numerous accolades Sandra Bullock received (also including a Golden Globe and...

Michael Lewis, the author of The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, the book that inspired the Oscar-winning film The Blind Side, is blaming Hollywood for the rift over money between ex-NFL lineman Michael Oher and his former guardians, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy.
Lewis made that contention in an interview published today in The Washington Post.
“Everybody should be mad at the Hollywood studio system,” Lewis said. “Michael Oher should join the writers’ strike. It’s outrageous how Hollywood accounting works. But the money is not in the Tuohys’ pockets.”
In a petition filed Monday in Tennessee court, Oher alleged that the Tuohys tricked him into a conservatorship to obtain legal authority to make business deals in his name. Oher claimed the Tuohys and their two birth children each received $225,000 plus 2.5% of the movie’s net proceeds, while he received nothing.

Michael Lewis, the author of the book that “The Blind Side” was based on, says the “Hollywood studio system” is to blame for the ongoing feud between the Tuohy family and former NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher.
In an interview on Wednesday with the Washington Post, Lewis said that after agents and fees, each member of the Tuohy family earned roughly $350,000 from the commercially successful and Oscar-winning film. He also said the Tuohys planned to share the royalties with family members, including Oher, but Oher started to decline his royalty checks. Amid the ongoing legal drama between Michael Oher and the Tuohy family, author Michael Lewis — who wrote the book which the 2009 Oscar-nominated film “The Blind Side” was adapted from — is weighing in.
Recently, Oher — the former NFL star who was the inspiration behind the book and the film — filed legal documents in Tennessee court requesting it terminate a conservatorship after alleging Leigh Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy lied about adopting him and tricked him into making them his conservators shortly after he turned 18.
Oher claims the Tuohys made millions off his name while he never received a dime, after the film — starring Sandra Bullock, Quinton Aaron, Jae Head, Tim McGraw, Lily Collins and Kathy Bates — earned more than $300 million at the box office.
However, Lewis claims that, despite the film’s success, none of the real-life figures who inspired the film have gotten nearly any money from it in the 13 years since its release.

How Does ‘The Blind Side’ Look in Light of Michael Oher’s Lawsuit? Even More Fake Than It Did Before
It’s a clockwork ritual of awards season. A movie in contention, one based on a true story, will be dinged for presenting a version of reality that isn’t real enough. The critical chatter often starts on Twitter, but it can come from anywhere, ultimately spreading to the mainstream media. We’ve seen this happen with dramas as disparate as “A Beautiful Mind” and “Green Book” and “Mank.” The original source of the attack can often be a rival studio, out to damage an awards competitor (a tactic that was turned into a kind of bloodsport by Harvey Weinstein). Yet it’s a curious thing: By the time the Oscars have come and gone, the criticisms tend to roll right off the movie in question. It’s as if, awards season aside, they never mattered all that much in the first place.
Yet I’m not sure that’s...

"The Blind Side," which netted Sandra Bullock an Oscar in 2010 for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy, is framed as an inspirational true story about how Leigh Anne and her husband, Sean Tuohy, adopted a young athlete named Michael Oher who was struggling with homelessness and helped him achieve his football dreams.
But Oher is alleging that a key aspect of the film's plot was a lie. On Aug. 14, per The New York Times, Oher, now a retired NFL athlete, petitioned a Tennessee court to terminate his legal relationship with the Tuohy family. In the petition, he claimed that the family never actually adopted him but instead urged him to enter a conservatorship, allowing them to profit off his life story.

Earlier this week, retired NFL star Michael Oher accused Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy of tricking him into a conservatorship and taking all the proceeds from the Oscar-winning film The Blind Side based on his life story. The family responded with allegations of their own on Tuesday, accusing Oher of threatening to go public with his claims unless they paid him $15 million.
In a lengthy statement through attorney Martin Singer (via TMZ), the Tuohys called Oher’s claims “outlandish” and “absurd,” adding that “the idea that the family ever sought to profit off Mr. Oher is not only offensive, it is transparently ridiculous.”
“In reality, the Tuohys opened their home to Mr. Oher, offered him structure, support and, most of all, unconditional love,” the statement continues. “They have consistently treated him like a son and one of their three children. His response was to threaten them, including saying that he...

“The Blind Side” actor Quinton Aaron is jumping to his co-star Sandra Bullock’s defence amid the legal drama surrounding Michael Oher and the Tuohy family.
Aaron played Oher in the 2009 flick alongside Bullock, who won a Best Actress Oscar for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy.
A synopsis for the film reads, “The story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All-American football player and first-round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.”
With Oher now filing a lawsuit against the Tuohys this week, claiming they tricked him into a conservatorship shortly after he turned 18, social media users called for Bullock’s Oscar to be taken away.
However, Aaron insisted that’s not necessary.

Actress Sandra Bullock was spotted in public for the first time since the death of her boyfriend Bryan Randall, who passed away on August 5, 2023, after battling Als. As reported by The Mirror, the 59-year-old drove around Beverly Hills with a dog sitting in her lap, just hours after NFL star Michael Oher filed a lawsuit against Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy for lying about legally adopting him and using his story for their own personal profit in the hit film ‘The Blind Side’, for which Bullock earned a Best Actress Academy Award for in 2010.

Los Angeles, Aug 16 (Ians) American footballer Michael Oher has made some big claims with regards to the movie ‘The Blind Side’ which was based on his life, saying that the real life pair of Leah Anne Tuohy and Sean Tuohy did not compensate him for the critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2006 blockbuster sports drama film.
He has further claimed that the couple did not adopt him, but rather “tricked” him into signing conservatorship papers under the guise of adoption papers so that they could mint money off his name and sign business deals, while not paying him any royalties whatsoever.
According to Variety, the Tuohy couple’s attorney, Marty Singer, gave out a lengthy statement on Tuesday afternoon in response to the footballer’s claims.

An attorney for Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy has issued a response to Michael Oher’s petition against them, which alleged that the couple deceived Oher into making the pair his conservators at age 18 and that he has not shared in the revenue from the feature “The Blind Side,” which drew from his life story.

The family at the center of The Blind Side, which chronicles Michael Oher’s life story out of poverty, has accused the retired NFL player of fabricating accusations that they lied about adopting him and cut him out of a deal for the rights to the book the film is based off of. A lawyer for the family says Oher tried to extort them out of $15 million and made the allegations “as a cynical attempt to drum up attention in the middle of his latest book tour.”
In a statement, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy also confirm Oher’s claim that they negotiated a deal with 20th Century Studios giving them and their two children a lump sum and profit participation from the movie but say that they willingly split the proceeds with Oher.

Michael Oher was the subject of The Blind Side, a movie which followed a homeless and traumatized Black teenager who becomes an All-American football player and first-round NFL draft pick with the help of his caring adoptive parents played by Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw. However, Michael Oher made some serious allegations against The Blind Side family yesterday, saying that they deceived him about being adopted and deprived him of earnings from the movie. Michael Oher is asking for privacy after filing a legal petition aimed at the Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, whose efforts to adopt him as as teenager were dramatized in the Sandra Bullock-starring feature “The Blind Side”.
In Oher’s petition, he claims that the couple never actually legally adopted him, but hoodwinked him into becoming his conservators in 2004, when he was just 18 years old, when he signed what he believed to be adoption papers.
“Michael trusted the Tuohys and signed where they told him to sign,” the former NFL player’s legal filing claims. “What he signed, however, and unknown to Michael until after February 2023, were not adoption papers, or the equivalent of adoption papers.”

Michael Oher, former NFL player and subject of the hit film The Blind Side, has petitioned a court with allegations that the Tuohy family lied to him about his adoption and used it to trick him into earning them millions.
In a 14-page petition that was filed Monday, Oher accuses Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy of tricking him into agreeing to a conservatorship by telling him that it was almost the same thing as adoption.
He detailed the situation in his memoir I Beat the Odds. “They explained to me that it means pretty much the exact same thing as ‘adoptive parents,’ but that the laws were just written in a way that took my age into account,” he wrote.
He alleges that the Tuohys failed to explain that Oher would be giving them the legal authority to make business decisions without his consent.

Sean Tuohy, whose life is the basis of “The Blind Side,” responded to a petition filed Tuesday by Michael Oher, requesting an end to the Tuohy family’s conservatorship as well as a bar to their ability to use his image and likeness to make business deals.
“We’re devastated,” Sean Tuohy told the Daily Memphian. “It’s upsetting to think we would make money off any of our children. But we’re going to love Michael at 37 just like we loved him at 16.”
Oher’s petition claims that the Tuohy family never officially adopted him, and that they tricked him into giving up his ability to make financial decisions when he signed the conservatorship papers. The petition also details the financial gain of the whole Tuohy family from the dramatization of his life story in “The Blind Side” (2009) — a story that wouldn’t exist without him — including royalties for their two biological children.

Captain Lee Rosbach once said that Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, who rose to fame being portrayed in the book and film The Blind Side, were his favorite Below Deck charter guests of all time.
The Tuohys’ story of how they adopted an underprivileged child who eventually played in the NFL was heartwarming. But now Michael Oher, who the Tuohys claimed to have adopted, said the story was a lie. Oher alleges that the couple lied about their intentions to adopt him, and instead put him in a conservatorship. This essentially removed his legal rights. Oher said he never received any royalties or money from the film.
He is now suing the Tuohys. When asked for his thoughts on the latest news about the couple, Rosbach only said, “They were one of my favorite charters ever.” So why did Rosbach say Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy were one of his favorites?...

Hollywood loves feel-good, based-on-real-life sports dramas, and isn't shy about drastically altering the facts to mine these tales for maximum stand-up-and-cheer potential. The scrappy high-school basketball underdogs in "Hoosiers" were, despite the school's small enrollment, actually a top team in the state during that supposed Cinderella season (which is why the filmmakers opted to set the film in a fictional town). "Remember the Titans" is riddled with inaccuracies, one of the most egregious being that T.C. Williams High School's climactic game against George C. Marshall High occurred in the middle of the season. And while the title character of "Rudy" did fulfill his dream of suiting up for his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish, retired NFL quarterback Joe Montana, who was on the team at the time, says the dramatic uniform-dumping scene is a pure fabrication.

Michael Oher, the retired NFL star whose rags-to-riches story was the basis for The Blind Side, has petitioned a Tennessee court, claiming that the 2009 movie was based on a lie, reports ESPN. Oher alleges that not only was he never actually adopted by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, but he also never saw a dime from the Oscar-winning film.
According to the 14-page filing, the Tuohys never formally adopted Oher after bringing him into their home as a high school student, but instead tricked him into signing conservatorship papers shortly after he turned 18, which gave them legal authority to make dealings in his name. With that power, the couple allegedly shut out Oher from profiting from a story “that would not have existed without him.”

Retired NFL star Michael Oher, whose life story was captured in John Lee Hancock’s 2009 film “The Blind Side,” is alleging that his seemingly adoptive parents forced him into a questionable conservatorship at age 18.
Oher, who began living with Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy while in high school in Tennessee, claims the Tuohy family never legally adopted him and instead had him enter a conservatorship less than three months after he turned 18 in 2004. The deal gives the Tuohys legal authority over his business deals, including using his name and likeness.

The Blind Side, the 2009 film starring Sandra Bullock, turned the story of a gifted high school football player into a lucrative well of money for the family who brought him in and changed his life. Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy have proudly presented themselves as retired NFL athlete Michael Oher’s adoptive parents in recent years, but new court documents filed in Shelby County, Tennessee and obtained by ESPN allege that a formal adoption never occurred.

The story of Michael Oher, the retired NFL star who was supposedly adopted by a wealthy white family who lifted him out of poverty, was immortalized in the 2009 blockbuster film “The Blind Side.” But now, Oher, 37, alleges that much of that heartwarming tale is a lie crafted by the family in order to profit off of his name, ESPN reports.
In a 14-page petition filed Monday in Shelby County, Tenn., Oher alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy never actually adopted him, instead tricking him into ceding his authority to make business deals by making the couple his conservators at age 18.
Per ESPN, Oher claims that the Tuohys arranged the deal that paid them and their two birth children millions of dollars in royalties from the Oscar-winning movie, which raked in more than $300 million at the box office; Oher received no payment. The ex-nfl player alleges that the conservatorship “provided...

Michael Oher, the longtime NFL lineman who rose to national attention when his life story became the basis for the inspirational movie The Blind Side that won Sandra Bullock an Oscar, has petitioned a court saying the basis for the story was not based in fact.
According to a deep-dive story by ESPN on Monday, Oher has filed a petition in Tennessee probate court alleging that a key tenet of his rags-to-riches story — that he was adopted by the Tuohy family, who eventually guided Oher to play football at their alma mater the University of Mississippi and then to the NFL — was untrue. Rather, Oher claims he was tricked by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to signing conservatorship papers just after he turned 18 that gave them the right to make deals in his name.
Oher did not discover the new information until February of this year, according to the petition.
