Think Jam will undergo a global restructuring, one that will consolidate the leadership of the entertainment marketing agency’s operations under current U.S agency heads Stella Ferguson and Louise Brennand.
As part of the overhaul, Think Jam is embracing an office-less business model and a “work from anywhere” approach. That came about due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the company has decided to lean into the new style as a way to attract talent around the world, regardless of geographical location.
Under the changes, Ferguson and Brennand both take on Executive Vice President roles and assume commercial responsibility for both the UK and U.S teams. Both will report to CEO Daniel Robey. Ferguson will be tasked with overall responsibility for the global P&l and Comms Division (which will be consolidated under a single global business unit) and is charged with continuing to grow Think Jam’s “direct to digital” entertainment marketing business.

On Saturday night, the new Bee Gees documentary How Can You Mend a Broken Heart will debut on HBO. Directed by Frank Marshall, it tells the story of the group via archival videos and new interviews with Barry Gibb, Eric Clapton, Noel Gallagher, Nick Jonas, Chris Martin, Justin Timberlake, Lulu, and others.
Sadly, Barry Gibb is the only living member of the Bee Gees. He’s kept their music alive through solo tours, and his upcoming album, Greenfields, will reinterpret their songs with country acts like Keith Urban, Dolly Parton,...

Ok, Ok, it’s still Season 9’s Top 12 announcement night — where Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott, Todrick Hall and Alex Lambert got axed in favor of Paige Miles, Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia and High-School Student Aaron Kelly — but Season 15’s Philadelphia Auditions is definitely in contention for first runner-up.
Perhaps a rip in the space-time continuum swallowed up every talented vocalist in a 100-mile radius of the City of Brotherly Love and deposited them on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike.

Maybe Project Runway has trained me to believe that the “home visit” episode is an over-edited, under-meaningful ritual that we should just do away with completely, but I have to hand it to Nigel Lythgoe and the gurgling hate machine that is American Idol: I — ugh — found myself genuinely moved by Candice, Angie, and Kree‘s home visits. I mean, Jesus. Candice with her kickass mom, millions of siblings, and all the shouts of “Gullah” and other islander buzzwords. Angie and her likable family, who put some light behind Angie’s Furby stare. Kree and the devastating visit to the dilapidated home she and her sister once shared with their parents, who both died in terrible, separate accidents. Like Mariah Carey, I found myself weeping caramel-colored tears down my topaz cheeks and onto my Frappuccino-colored breasts. Hashtag pow (in my heart).

Well, that was the weirdest possible way to introduce season 12's finalists to America, wouldn't you say? To recap, Ryan Seacrest sat the 20 remaining hopefuls in what looked like a cramped classroom (very Up the Down Staircase) and led each surviving finalist through a long corridor and to the stage for a victory performance. In case that wasn't bizarre enough, Ryan sometimes gave the performers little pep talks before they hit the stage. And we all know what a sympathetic character Seacrest is.
"You did it. All the hard work paid off," Seacrest muttered to Candice Glover like a scripted high-school guidance counselor. So, so weird.
Here's what's important. The ten finalists (chosen by home viewer votes) were announced, and now it's our job to rank them in two ways: 1) by merit, based solely on who deserves to be the next American Idol most; 2) by likeliness to win, based solely...

We’ve reached that point in the American Idol season — after 37 episodes, hundreds of magnificently awful images in the backdrop oval, and what feels like 73 hours of nonsense critiques from Tweedle-Huh, Tweedle-Abs, and Tweedle-Yo — where I start hunting for conspriracy theories with the vigorousness of Skylar Laine tracking an eight-point buck in the woods. (Run, Bambi, run!) And this week’s Top 3 performance episode had ‘em in spades:
* There was Ryan Seacrest’s intro, touting Phillip Phillips and his hometown of Leesburg, Ga, which might’ve been a not-so-subtle reminder of the last growly-voiced, guitar-playing, untucked-shirt-wearing Idol winner Lee DeWyze,...

American Idol's drop from Top 6 to Top 5 is always pivotal. The show enters a sudden death phase, every song choice is critical, and every remaining wannabe becomes a candidate for the crown. What I'm trying to say: The losers should be gone by now (unless we're talking about season nine, in which Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, and unfortunate winner Lee DeWyze still remained at the final 5). This makes the question of last night's eliminated contestant a vital one: Was it Joshua Ledet, the dancing R&B child whose best days are probably behind him? What about Elise Testone, the cool Rickie Lee Jones proxy who's been waiting to wilt for weeks? And what of Phillip Phillips, who still hasn't hit the bottom three yet? Scroll down to see who the sixth place sistah/brothah is.

There’s this weird part of the week — from Friday morning till Monday evening — when not a single major TV network airs a reality singing competition. It’s terrible, I know, but it also gives me a lot of time to ponder American Idol history. (Everyone does this in their free time, yes?) And my latest flight of Idol fancy got me mulling this question: Was Season 11′s Top 10 the strongest — top to bottom — in show history? Let’s examine:
For starters, I’d automatically rule out the five seasons with three or more Top 10 contestants who probably wouldn’t have outlasted Season 11′s No.

Last month, while interviewing executive producer Nigel Lythgoe for a story about possible changes to American Idol for its upcoming eleventh season, I proposed the idea that the show should introduce a list of 11 songs that would be banned from the live performance rounds on the grounds that they’ve been done to death in previous seasons. Lythgoe’s response caught me off guard: “Well, Mike, if you want to write down and send me 11 songs that you don’t want to hear again, I will put them through to the committee.”
Well, sir, you don’t have to ask me twice!

'American Idol': Scotty and Lauren duke it out in the Nokia, on the scene for the performance finale
In seasons past, the scene outside the Nokia Theater La Live in the hour leading up to the performance finale resembled a kind of carnival of Idols past — Hey, it’s Anoop! And… that one kooky girl from Hollywood week! No, the other one! — with a general feeling of excitement and occasion stirring among the crowd waiting to get into the theater. Perhaps I’m just projecting my own indifferent indifference about the season 10 finale here (I simply don’t care about the fact that I don’t care), but yesterday’s scene was far more subdued in comparison. I...

American Idol held its Top 5 results show tonight, and that (of course) meant Ryan Seacrest split the contestants up into two separate duos, declared the fifth vocalist safe, then tried to convince that one lucky singer to choose which cluster of compatriots was at risk of elimination. Thankfully, Scotty McCreery took the “I’m not doing this with him todayyyyy” route and made Our Little Hostie do the dirty work. (Incidentally, Ryan took the opportunity to inform us that Scotty has never actually been in the bottom two; in other words, last week’s ambiguously doled-out results were a fakeout.

The first signs of mutiny aboard the U.S.S. American Idol surfaced during Wednesday night’s Top 8 performance telecast, and not a moment too soon. As the Season 10 contestants tackled “Songs from the Movies,” James Durbin and Casey Abrams stood up and said “no” to Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and his wacky cartoon sidekick, choosing instead to forge their own imperfect paths in the competition. Whether or not their singular visions were successful, or whether they’ll lead to quick exits or carry them all the way to the Nokia at the end of May, is almost irrelevant at this point.

It was a tale of two telecasts tonight on American Idol. Act One found the sanctity of marriage getting punched in the kidney by a pair of craven fameosexuals (even worse than it sounds), a grizzled clairvoyant predicting the untimely death of a pair of wide-eyed teenage contestants (much funnier/more inspirational than it sounds), and Randy Jackson offering perhaps the worst advice of his 10-season Idol tenure (no small accomplishment, that). Act Two (aka The Jennifer Lopez Empathy Hour) was most notable for revealing five of the 24 season 10 semifinalists, ousting a contestant whose backstory was far more impressive than his singing voice,...

Some things in life are certainties: Steven Tyler’s penchant for profanity. Jennifer Lopez’s ability to add sparkle to just about anything (her eyelids, a pair of mom shorts, the Glinda-like bubble that perpetually surrounds her). And the way that, despite Ryan Seacrest’s best efforts, American Idol‘s “Holding Rooms of Doom” episodes are never really all that suspenseful.

The premiere episode of the 10th season of "American Idol" kicked off with a breezy two hours of introductions and auditions on Wednesday night (January 19). Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson set the tone for the season, introducing the loyal viewers to the new chemistry that the trio would deliver. The viewers responded, as the show debuted with a pretty good rating number. While it was down from last season's premiere episode, it did top last season's finale and also saw increases in a handful of demographics, which is a good sign for the show moving forward.

"American Idol" is here and Zap2it has been taking a stroll down memory lane to re-evaluate the previous nine seasons.
We're breaking it down into four categories: Best Performance, Worst Performance, Most Underrated Idol and most Overrated Idol. At the end, we will decide how the season stacks up against the rest, rating it as great, good, or not-so-good.
We've looked back at Season 1 (yay Kelly!), Season 2 (aww, Clay and Ruben!), the black hole that was Season 3, one of our favorite Top 2 in Season 4, and Soul Patrol-ed Season 5. We took a look back at beatboxin' Season 6, the David vs. David finale of Season 7 and the game-changing season of Glambert.
Now let's look at Simon's last season.
Season 9 contestants in order of elimination:
Lacey Brown
Paige Miles
Didi Benami
Andrew Garcia
Katie Stevens
Tim Urban
Siobhan Magnus
Aaron Kelly
Michael Lynche
Casey James
Crystal Bowersox
Lee DeWyze (winner)

Steven Tyler officially has Zap2it's approval as a suitable Simon Cowell replacement on "American Idol." He's funny, he's crazy, he's unpredictable, he drops F-bombs, and he's probably going to get slapped with a sexual harassment suit before we meet the Top 12, but we love it. (Besides, if Donald Trump can get away with creepy, so can Tyler -- at least Tyler is endearing about it.)

For a lot of people, the American Idol audition rounds are all about the point-and-hoot spectacle of watching deranged, deluded “singers” committing treacherous acts against the beloved songbooks of Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and a host of other musical superstars. Yet while I’m not immune to occasionally chuckling at said catastrophes, I get far more enjoyment from the good auditions, from experiencing the sudden and unexpected chills that come from seeing a nervous, heretofore anonymous kid floor a panel of judges (and 25 million viewers) with his or her vocal prowess.

The United Center in Chicago played host to American Idol (TV)'s top ten Saturday night, with a hometown boy at the helm. Winner Lee DeWyze, who hails from suburban Mt. Prospect, Il. topped the list of Season 9 finalists who sang their way through a series of individual and group performances that had Idol fans chanting for their seasonal faves. The show followed it's traditional countdown format beginning with contestant number ten and working its way up to the winner. Opening the show was Didi Benami, whose second song, "Terrified" by Katharine McPhee out-did her first, Kyler England's "Lay it on Me." Andrew Garcia, a sentimental favorite during the show's run, received a warm reception from his camp as he stylistically toyed around with Paula Abdul's "Straight Up." At number 8 was Katie Stevens who wowed the boy crowd with a black rubber-like mini-dress and stiletto black boots. The raven-haired...

The "American Idol" Season 9 tour came to Los Angeles Friday, Aug. 13 and we got ourselves a ticket. Not a hard thing to do, since the concert was nowhere near sold out.
However, the Top 10 still gave an energetic show. At this point in the tour, when shows have already been canceled for lack of ticket sales, the enthusiasm is commendable.
Much like the season itself, the concert featured much stronger female performances than male ones.
Didi Benami kicked it off and it's actually kind of fortunate she went out first of the Top 10 because her "Terrified" was one of the best songs of the night. At least the concert opened strong, which would not have been the case if Andrew Garcia, Tim Urban or Aaron Kelly had hit the stage first.

If the top 10 contestants on this year's "American Idol" had anything to do with it, Harry Connick Jr. would be the man to take Simon Cowell's place next season.
Or three of the top 10, anyway. "Most" in this case, however, means three: Michael Lynche, Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly say Connick would be the best choice.
The other most-talked-about possible replacement, Bret Michaels, won the endorsement of two finalists -- Casey James, who performed with Michaels on the season finale, and Crystal Bowersox. She also wonders, though, if "maybe they could bring Paula [Abdul] back."

It seems that Simon Cowell wants singer and actor Harry Connick Jr to take over his spot on the judging panel of American Idol
However, Harry’s not the only one tipped for the job as Brett Michaels and Adam Lambert have both previously expressed an interest in the job.
Simon, who left Idol in May, told Ok magazine, “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Harry Connick Jr [who took over my job].
“He was a great mentor when he was on, and he knows music.”
Who would you like to see taking over from Simon?

Seven dates have been axed from the summer tour featuring season-nine 'Idol' contestants.

Several dates have been slashed from the American Idols Live! Tour, which kicked off just before the Fourth of July weekend with a stop in Michigan on Friday. As the season-nine contestants continue to make their way across the country, an updated tour schedule posted on the "American Idol" website shows that seven dates have been canceled.
The revised concert schedule also reflects an earlier finale for the tour, wrapping now on August 31 in Indianapolis instead of on September 16 in Portland, Maine, as previously planned. Shows in cities including Buffalo, New York; Portland, Oregon; Kansas City, Missouri; and Cleveland have all been nixed. Canadian stops in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Toronto have also been cut.

By the time the "American Idol" finale rolled around on May 25, Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox had spent over four months living in Los Angeles and performing at the Nokia Theatre. In that time, the finalists and the rest of the aspiring singers got to know each other in a sort of reality show commune: living in the same hotel, rehearsing together, hanging out.
They became a big family in many ways, and now they're about to embark on a giant road trip as the "American Idol" tour kicks off on July 1 outside Detroit. And as this season's contestants get set to travel the country — playing over 50 dates from coast to coast — they already know what to expect when it...

Perhaps it was the living proof of Justin Bieber, but "American Idol" producers have decided that they should lower the age limit for those who are willing to enter the competition. If in the past nine years they want 16 year olds to start auditioning, they now admit 15 year olds.
"A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16," said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, executive producer of the singing competition show. "Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool."
"Idol" has had youngsters going through the big stage in the past years, naming some are David Archuleta, Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens. The top limit for contestants remains fixed at 28 years old.
Audition for the tenth season will be held in six cities across the U.S. beginning Saturday, July 17. Although the scouting will be held less than a month away, Fox has...

"American Idol" has announced that for Season 10, the age limit eligibility for auditions has dropped to 15 years old. Can that be considered an improvement? It depends on what the show wants to improve.
If the show is looking to improve its talent pool, we do not think lowering the age limit is the answer. In fact, raising the age limit is probably the way to go. Sure, there are pop stars like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus who made it big at a young age -- but those stars are so one-in-a-million that we are skeptical the show will find the next Bieber or Cyrus by lowering the age limit.
Instead, you'll get even more performers like Aaron Kelly -- a sweet young kid that felt all season like he was playing dress-up in his dad's closet. Kelly is definitely talented, but he seemed like a half-baked cookie. We would've...

Earlier today, "American Idol" announced that they were lowering their age limit to allow 15-year-olds to audition. Well that makes sense, since season nine's youngsters — Aaron Kelly, Haeley Vaughn and Katie Stevens — all exuded professionalism and mega-talent under pressure. (Rolls eyes.)
I don't mean to slam Aaron and Katie personally. In fact, both of those recent contestants have knocked my socks off post-"Idol." Aaron displayed some legitimate songwriting chops and Katie's vocals during the finale were as good — if not better — than her co-star Christina Aguilera. But during the competition, both of those contestants received criticisms from the judges that suggested they should have honed their craft and experienced life for a few more years before standing center stage in front of 30 million people. It's hard to get judged when you're 25, and it's a hundred times harder when you're a sensitive 15-year-old.

Oh Em Gee, you guys! I am so excited about Fox’s new reality show, The Search for the Next Justin Bieber, which is set to premiere January 2011. Contestants will be judged in four categories: Awesomeness of Voice; Floppiness of Hair; Dreaminess of Smile; and Ability to Induce Scrawling of Name All Over Trapper Keeper. And the good news is, there won’t be any need for pesky phone- or text-voting: Instead, an army of tweens will be employed to squeal approval after every performance. The boy who receives the lowest-decibel response each week will have his luscious locks shorn on stage by Ryan Seacrest,...

Aaron Kelly has certainly been working his tail off since his run on 'American Idol' ended.
The 17-year-old high school student has already been writing songs for his upcoming album, which he hopes to release in the ever-lucrative modern country genre. (The male Taylor Swift anyone?)
Kelly, who finished in fifth place this season, spoke to TV Squad about his passion for songwriting, his new baby niece and which other 'Idol' contestant he doesn't want to bunk with on tour.
(As an aside: Kelly also called this reporter "ma'am" twice during our conversation, despite an age gap of only five years. What a gentleman ... I think?)

For a second time in its run, Fox's American Idol is expanding its eligibility age range. After stretching the upper age limit from 24 to 28 after the first 3 seasons, the Fox talent competition is now lowering the minimum age required from 16 to 15. Clearly, this is tied to the enormous popularity of younger singers like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus and to the importance of younger teen and tween girls who are a powerful Idol demographic and have gotten behind younger contestants like David Archuleta and Aaron Kelly in the past. Additionally, despite talk that Idol may [...]...

One of the frequent complaints from "American Idol" judges during the recently wrapped season nine was that this year's younger teenage contestants couldn't really connect with the emotions and meaning of certain cover songs because they just hadn't experienced much outside of their parents' house and high school.
That makes it even more surprising that one of the show's producers announced in a press release touting this summer's "Idol" tour that for the upcoming 10th season, "Idol" will be lowering its age limit from 16 to 15.
"A lot of young, talented people are now seeking careers and representation before they turn 16. Lowering the age limit allows us to tap into this talent pool," said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, the show's executive producer. The move seems to go counter...

The "American Idol" Top 10 are busy rehearsing for their big summer tour, but they took a break to hang with the press on Thursday, June 17. Zap2it caught up with Casey James and Aaron Kelly and we had to ask Casey about performing with ailing Poison frontman Bret Michaels.
At the time of the finale, Michaels was advised by his doctors to stay home. Still, James wasn't worried that Michaels wouldn't get through the performance. "The time that I spent hanging out and the time that we were playing together, I knew that he'd be fine for the music," Casey tells us. "Anything else, it would've been up for grabs, but I know that guy ... anything could happen on that stage and he'd finish the song."
While Aaron is backing Harry Connick Jr. for judge Simon Cowell's replacement because of his helpful constructive criticism, Michaels is Casey's pick because "he's got a great personality,...

It feels like American Idol only finished yesterday (we know it was actually last month sometime) but already the judges have been talking about next year’s season of the show. Ellen DeGeneres has revealed how her judging style will change next year and Kara DioGuardi has been talking about who she wants to replace Simon Cowell.
Ellen DeGeneres joined the panel as a newbie for the 2010, but says she has now found her feet as a judge and plans to be tougher on the contestants next year. Admitting that she was ‘too soft’ on hopefuls like Casey James, Mike Lynch and Aaron Kelly, Ellen told USA Today:
“Your first year anywhere is going to be tough, because you’re trying to figure out what your role is.”
“I think next year my role will be to be exactly who I am, sometimes funny and sometimes serious, and I think...

Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowlands has hinted that she may appear as a judge on the upcoming season of X Factor.
Regular judge Dannii Minogue will miss the audition rounds of the show starting next month and Simon Cowell is reportedly looking for one or a number of celebrities to replace her on the panel.
Could Kelly be one of those people? In a recent interview she said that she loves the mentoring system in place on X Factor.

Crystal was dumped by her long-term Bf, Tony, on the morning of American Idol’s season finale — but she seems to be moving on just fine!
Was Crystal Bowersox crying into her drink after losing both her boyfriend, Tony Kusian, and the Idol crown all in one day? No, she was not. In fact, she seemed downright happy at the uber-exclusive post-finale Idol party, where she was caught celebrating with none other than second runner-up Casey James!
An insider at the bash, held at the Mondrian Hotel’s swanky Skybar in La, caught Crystal, 24, kicking back with her dad, some friends And the sexy rocker — whom she once confided to have a crush on. Hmmmm…..
Elsewhere, Crystal’s “musical crush”, season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, hung poolside with his parents — and golden goddess Carrie Underwood.
Kara DioGuardi wasn’t sniffing around Casey, strangely, but paying tribute to Simon Cowell on his last American Idol evening.

To the delight of hair metal fans everywhere, this year’s American Idol final 12 reunited on stage last night alongside rock God, Alice Cooper.
Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus, Didi Benami, Paige Miles, Michael Lynche, Casey James, Tim Urban, Lee Dewyze, Lacey Brown, Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens gave a fiery rendition of Cooper’s 1972 hit ‘School’s Out’, resplendent in St Trinian type school uniforms and accompanied by a heavily made up children’s choir.
The group and Alice were later joined on stage by Orianthi, who kept her costume in theme and wore a sparkly school dress.
We don’t know who lost more credibility last night. American Idol for allowing decent yet intrinsically uninteresting singer Lee DeWyze to win, or Alice Cooper, who used to be a rock God but these days is looking like a bit of a sell out more and more. Leave your comments below.

Well, at least he’s a nice guy. Say what you want about Lee DeWyze winning American Idol (to my ears, Crystal Bowersox outperformed him the entire season), but at least the guy sincerely appreciated the love America showered upon him. Fox ended the finale telecast while Lee was still belting out U2′s “Beautiful Day,” which is too bad because the sweetest (as in, awww, that’s sweet) part of the show occurred right after his victory song. Lee, with mic still in hand, took a moment to personally thank the audience in the Nokia Theatre. “You have no...

"American Idol" has crowned its season 9 winner and for the third time in a row, it's a man's world. Being that this is "American Idol," the results show — which could legitimately be only five minutes long — will run well over two hours. And being that this is Simon Cowell's final "Idol" episode ever, expect lots of celebrity cameos. (And when I say "celebrity," I mean Blake Lewis and Normund Gentle.)
Christina Aguilera and Enrique Iglesias are scheduled to perform (in honor of 1999, the year Simon first got his flat-top haircut), as well as our reigning Idol, Kris "Not Adam Lambert, The Straight One" Allen. There are plenty of rumored appearances, too, ranging from Janet Jackson to Hall and Oates. (Those greatest hits albums aren't going to sell themselves, now will they?)
But wait! There's more!
"Idol" finales bring back the entire Top 12 of the season, and often the singers get paired up with established acts, so congratulations random dude who hoped to see Paige Miles and Insane Clown Posse perform together.
