Donald Trump Jr. is the least of London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s concerns right now, and he made that very clear in an interview on Thursday in the wake of the deadly terror attacks on his city. “I’m not going to respond to a tweet from Donald Trump Jr., I’ve been doing more important things over the past 24 hours,” Khan told CNN. His blunt shutdown of the president’s oldest son is in response to Trump Jr. bashing him on Twitter following the attack on the British capital that left five people dead (including the perpetrator) and approximately 40 injured.

Cities around the world illuminated landmark buildings Wednesday evening to show solidarity with London after authorities confirmed five people were killed and 40 injured after a brazen car and knife attack outside U.K. Parliament.
In the capital city, Big Ben, which is just 0.1 miles away from the crime scene, lit up red to honor the victims of the terrorist attack. Also, the Metropolitan Police Service flew its flag at half-staff over Scotland Yard to mark the death of Keith Palmer, the 48-year-old member of the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command who served on the police force for 15 years before his death.

Theresa May’s Vogue shoot | The Battle of Cable Street | Love Actually | Tooth extractions on children | Bread pudding | Chuck Berry
The Vogue photographs of Theresa May show her in clothes and surroundings of smug luxury (‘Trump was actually being a gentleman’, 21 March). They should have been juxtaposed with photos of the homeless, the bedridden elderly receiving negligible care or workers suffering squalid conditions – with Mrs May’s ambiguous claim as the heading, “The Tories help people to rise up”. Surely, time for the people to “rise up”.

• Sadiq Khan’s summary of the Battle of Cable Street (G2, 16 March) makes two omissions. In listing the coalition that defeated the fascist march he fails to mention the leading roles played by the Independent Labour party (Ilp) and the Communist party. Did he forget or didn’t he know?

President Donald Trump‘s executive order banning citizens from seven Middle Eastern countries from entering the U.S. may be lifted, but an Iranian director previously affected by the controversial directive made good on his promise to sit out the awards show for political reasons.
On Sunday night, Asghar Farhadi was not present to accept his Best Foreign Film Oscar for The Salesman.
Instead, he sent Iranian American engineer Anousheh Ansari, known as the first female space tourist, to accept the award on his behalf and read a statement from the filmmaker.
“I’m sorry I’m not with you tonight.

The film’s director Asghar Farhadi is boycotting the Oscars in protest over Us immigration policy.
Oscar-nominated Iranian film The Salesman will be screened in Trafalgar Square for free to demonstrate London’s “openness to the World”.
The film’s director Asghar Farhadi has already said he will boycott this year’s Academy Awards over Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration, which restricted travel from seven predominantly Muslim counties, including Iran.
The open-air screening will take place on 26 February, the same day as the Oscars, and has been organised by London mayor Sadiq Khan, actor Lily Cole, producer Kate Wilson and film-maker Mark Donne.
Khan told London paper The Evening Standard: “Londoners have always prided themselves on their openness to the world, and what better way to do that than to come together to watch this powerful film in one of the world’s most famous public spaces.”
