It’s official: the next Tony Hawk-branded video game will, indeed, be called Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Not only that, but it’s being developed with a keen eye on returning to what made the series popular in the first place. That means there won’t be any more motion-controlled peripherals or gimmicks, which is great news and a definite relief. That said, it has been noted that skaters will be able to shoot projectiles (for certain objectives) and use power-ups – two things that hopefully won’t ruin the gameplay.
The reveal today comes to us from Game Informer, who published a first look at Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 earlier this morning. Therein, it was confirmed that the game will be released this year on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with last-gen (PS3 and Xbox 360) versions also planned for release sometime after that.
