- [on Break-Up (2014)] There are three groups of people in the film: Followers, bad leaders and individualists. (...) Because those people with the highest self-confidence are often the most convincing, but don't necessarily say the most sensible things.
- [on Timeless (2016)] Timeless is unpredictable - it's a satire, comedy, becomes drama, becomes war movie, turns into slapstick, suddenly turns serious - like real life. Timeless is my most significant work so far because of its special filmic grammar and its strong message about society and life.
- [on Menschenliebe (2010)] Menschenliebe is the "seed" from which my other works grew, so to say, an "overture". It will probably always be among my best works.
- [on Helmut Berger] Helmut Berger is what I consider a perfect artist - very serious in his craft, intelligent in his thoughts, without any time or patience for "bullshit" or empty phrases that litter many people's everyday lives, conversations and relationships.
- [on Gold (2015)] I wanted to do a choreography of static objects that move due to the camera-work and editing. I consider this one of my most important works so far, especially when it comes to the filmmaking side: In my other films, I try to influence the viewers by a story, while in this film, it's pure editing and cinematography. It's the pure "art of filmmaking", not so much the story that's transported, but rather the style.
- [on The Songwriter of Botnang (2019)] A regular conversation is not planned, and, similarly, I wanted to let the film "develop" its own structure during the course of filming.
