The Bear’s Cousin Richie, played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, has come a long way from when viewers first met him as a curmudgeonly creature of habit who’s quick to fight his cousin, Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), and his sous chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) at every turn. When Carmy returns to The Beef after his brother Mikey kills himself and takes the reins back from Richie, who’s been at the helm in the interim, he’s resistant to the changes Carmy wants to implement while also navigating his grief about Mikey,...

The Defenders may not have been the high-performer that Netflix hoped it would be (our review here), but nevertheless, its premiere essentially concludes “Phase One” of this branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, setting the stage for new stories with established characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist (all of whom have secured another season). Before any of the Defenders return to the small screen, however, it’s Jon Bernthal’s turn in the spotlight. The Walking Dead alum debuted as Frank Castle in Daredevil season 2 and immediately emerged as a fan favorite. Thus, The Punisher was born.
As a character, The Punisher – created by Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru in 1974 – has traditionally been depicted as a sheer force of vengeance. But Castle’s quest for revenge against the criminals who killed his family is all but complete...

Now that The Defenders have averted catastrophe in New York City – at the expense of Midland Circle, we might add – it’s almost time to welcome The Punisher into the limelight.
Jon Bernthal’s one-man reign of terror was first introduced to Marvel’s small-screen universe during the second season of Daredevil, where he forged an unlikely friendship with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll). By the looks of things, that bond will continue to flourish in The Punisher, as Netflix has today unveiled a horde of new action shots designed to trace Frank Castle’s evolution from hardened Us Marine to fearless vigilante.
Also included in the gallery below is an up-close look at David Lieberman’s Micro, a computer hacker who purportedly plays a sizeable role in Netflix’s latest standalone series. A release date continues to elude The Punisher, though it’s understood Marvel and Netflix may decide...

- We Got This Covered
Up until now, Marvel and Netflix have been curiously quiet about The Punisher spinoff.
Perhaps in fear that any press and/or marketing would overshadow the launch of The Defenders, an eight-part miniseries designed to round up the street-level heroes of New York City, the Frank Castle solo outing has remained in the shadows for months now.
But following a small presence at San Diego Comic-Con, coupled with that blood-pumping end-credits scene that came attached to The Defenders, it seems Marvel and Netflix are ready to court The Punisher into the limelight. And not a moment too soon.
Granted, there’s been nary a mention of an exact release date for the 13-part standalone series, but Empire has now published a pair of behind-the-scenes action shots. Included in the outlet’s October issue, which crowned Star Wars: The Last Jedi to be its cover star, these photos actually found their...

A couple days ago, I said that the rumors we could see The Punisher in 2017 were not credible due to lack of casting news, and now we get this! ScreenCrush relays a report from McU Exchange that a casting role is floating around Hollywood for the character of "Dennis Landstrom," which sounds like a fake name for David Lieberman — aka Micro.
For those unaware, Micro is a longtime ally to Frank Castle in the comics who's recently been depicted as a villain. There are many layers to this rumor, so don't get too excited:
The casting is for Dennis Landstrom...which, even if McU Exchange is drawing connections, isn't an outright announcement for a "Micro" casting.Even though the character is heavily involved in The Punisher series, it could very well mean that the character would be appearing in The Defenders, which is actually slated for 2017.

2Nd Update, 3:49 Pm: Carmike yesterday became the first theater chain to announce that it was scrapping plans to screen The Interview. Now the Georgia-based exhibitor has released a statement: “The top priority for Carmike Cinemas is to ensure that our valued guests may enjoy the entertainment of their choosing in a safe and comfortable environment. Carmike must take threats against movie theatres very seriously and the recent unprecedented cyber-attacks against Sony Pictures are no exception. Therefore, in an abundance of caution, Carmike will delay the exhibition of The Interview. There are many additional excellent movie titles to choose from this holiday season, and we look forward to welcoming our patrons.”
Updated, 1:34 Pm: AMC and Cineplex has made their pulling of The Interview official. Said AMC: “As friends and families make plans for the upcoming holidays, AMC has received many questions about which movies we are playing in the weeks ahead.

In this week’s podcast, Deadline’s executive editor David Lieberman and host David Bloom recap one heck of a week in the business of providing services that looks more or less like television across all kinds of delivery platforms. The Ncta cable-tv conference opened in Los Angeles, attracting numerous big-name speakers such as the FCC chairman, but big deals also seemed to be breaking out everywhere. There was talk of a massive deal between At&T and DirecTV Networks; a $20-billion swap of subscribers between Charter and Comcast, and Viacom’s $757 million acquisition of the UK’s Channel 5. Along the way, DreamWorks Animation’s Jeffrey Katzenberg seemed to write off his core business, and got roundly whacked by another media mogul, Jeff Bewkes of Time Warner.
