Former President Donald Trump may face a tax bill of more than $100 million after an audit from the Internal Revenue Service. According to a report from The New York Times and ProPublica, the audit shows that Trump claimed two financial losses on his Chicago skyscraper in 2008 and 2010.
Trump claims he lost as much as $658 million in 2008. No records show the IRS challenging the initial 2008 claim. Trump said the financial hit left the skyscraper “worthless” and found no reason to believe it would ever turn a profit. Trump claimed the loss again once ownership of the skyscraper was transferred to Djt Holdings LLC and an additional $169 million loss was reported.
Other Trump businesses moved to the partnership, which his legal team used to claim more financial losses, sparking the IRS to do a “high-level legal review” of the matter. If Trump is unable to overturn the audit’s results, he could...

Eric Trump suggested that Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama would be prosecuted if the Supreme Court decides that presidents are not immune to criminal prosecution.
“The Supreme Court is now weighing this monumental case on whether or not president [Donald] Trump has immunity from prosecution,” host Maria Bartiromo told Eric during an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
“We saw some of the hearing this week,” Bartiromo stated in reference to last week’s oral arguments, during which the high court considered Trump’s claim that his official acts should not be subject to federal prosecution. “It felt like listening to some of those Supreme Court justices—that they were willing to admit to some or acknowledge some immunity.”
She asked Eric, “What did you take away from what you heard from the Supreme Court this week, and when do you expect a decision?”

Update: Jury selection has ended for the day in Donald Trump’s hush money trial, with 11 people so far having gone through an extensive questionnaire. A total of 32 potential jurors were left in the courtroom.
After the prospective jurors left the courtroom, Trump’s attorney Todd Blanche requested that his client be excused from the proceedings on April 25. That’s the day that the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Trump’s claims of immunity from prosecution.
But Merchan rejected the request. “Arguing before the Supreme Court is a big deal, and I can certainly appreciate why your client would want to be there. But a trial in New York Supreme Court … is also a big deal,” he said, per a pool report. “I will see him here next week.”

Eric Trump said he “guarantees” his father, Donald Trump, will win the 2024 election over President Joe Biden, he told Fox & Friends this week.
Eric cited the criticism of the Biden Administration from “upset” Americans. He also mentioned the gag order against Trump and his sons that would prohibit him from discussing his legal battles.
Recently, several conservatives have expressed disappointment in Trump’s new abortion policy. Eric claimed they would still vote for him, claiming there is “only one option” in the election.
“I know we’re going to win. I know we’re going to win because I know where this country is,” Eric stated. “I can feel the sentiment of this country. And people are not buying what’s happening right now. The mainstream media, they’ll keep on peddling their nonsense.”

After Melania Trump was absent from her husband Donald Trump‘s Super Tuesday victory party, speculation about the state of their marriage on social media went into overdrive.
The former First Lady has not attended any of her husband’s campaign events despite his frequent promises that she would.

John Oliver has some advice for the Supreme Court.
On HBO’s Last Week Tonight on Sunday, Oliver noted the court’s move last week to decide whether former President Donald Trump has presidential immunity against being prosecuted on charges he interfered with the 2020 election.
Oliver played a clip from an ABC News report in which the reporter noted that “the court [is] now taking on a monumental unanswered question: Can a former president be criminally prosecuted for actions taken while in office?”
Mused Oliver: “It’s an interesting question and real quick: Yes. Yes. A former president can be criminally prosecuted for actions taken in office. It is one of those questions to which the answer should really be obvious. Like, did Robert Durst kill those people, or which cereal mascot fucks the most, or who should play the next Batman? Update, 3:57Pm: Donald Trump is going to have to sell a lot of Mar-a-Lago memberships to meet his debt to the state of New York.
With a final judgment officially entered today into the court docket on the now-$454 million fine the former president and family owe from his civil fraud trial, Team Trump is looking at interest of $114,554 a day.
“This judgment shall bear interest from the date of its entry at the statutory rate of 9% per annum,” wrote NY Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron yesterday in the document made public today (read it here).
Breaking it down, that’s $111,984 every 24 hours for the ex-Celebrity Apprentice host himself. The sum is based on the total judgment delivered by Judge Engoron of $354.9 million plus the $100 million already accrued in pre-judgment interest for the financial sleight-of-hand Trump, his sons and executives engaged in for decades with banks and more for favorable loans.

In a significant legal blow to former President Donald Trump‘s business empire, New York Judge Arthur Engoron has ordered the former president to pay a staggering $355 million in penalties in a civil fraud case.
Engoron’s decision, outlined in a comprehensive 92-page ruling, comes after a months-long trial and marks a significant setback for Trump and his associates.
The case was brought forth by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) in 2022 and alleged that Trump had manipulated his net worth on important financial statements to secure tax and insurance benefits falsely. These documents, which were used to obtain loans and deals by presenting the value of the Trump Organization’s assets, form the basis of the state’s claim of fraud. Engoron had already found Trump, the Trump Organization and several high-ranking executives, which included his adult sons, liable for fraud before the trial even began.

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) used a new appeals court ruling made against infamous pharma fraudster Martin Shkreli to support her bid to ban former President Donald Trump from New York’s real estate industry.
In a filing last week, James’ office told Judge Arthur Engoron, who presided over Trump’s civil business fraud trial, about the new appeals court ruling against Shkreli.
In this ruling, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a lower New York federal court’s order.
The order banned Shkreli for life from the pharmaceuticals industry due to his attempts to block competition for a drug, which he increased the price of by over 4,000% overnight in 2015.
Through his efforts, Shkreli raised the price of the antiparasitic drug Daraprim from $17.50 to $750 per tablet.

Nikki Haley is — at least for now — refusing to drop out of the 2024 Republican primary. Following her second-place finish in New Hampshire, she delivered an upbeat concession speech, promising to continue her campaign at least through South Carolina’s primary later this month. After closing arguments in the civil fraud case against Donald Trump and his company last week, the former president faces the real possibility of a $370 million penalty and potential expulsion from the New York real estate industry that solidified his reputation.
Trump attended the courtroom proceedings presided over by State Judge Arthur Engoron, who ruled that Trump could not personally deliver certain remarks due to his refusal to refrain from personal attacks throughout his presentation.
Trump defied the judge and delivered a closing statement anyway until Engoron shut him off.
The start of the courtroom session was delayed due to a bomb threat at Engoron’s residence. Surprisingly, Engoron did not address this in court.

On Thursday, Long Island police responded to a bomb threat at the residence of Judge Arthur Engoron just hours before the closing arguments in former President Donald Trump‘s civil fraud case were set to begin.
A bomb squad from Nassau County was dispatched to Engoron’s home to investigate the threat. It is unknown whether or not Engoron was present at the time of the threat.

According to House Democrats, former President Donald Trump received at least $7.8 million from foreign governments during two out of his four years in the White House.
The revelation came in a report released by the House Oversight Committee’s Democratic members on Thursday.
According to the report, 20 foreign governments in countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait helped finance Trump’s businesses within two years that the committee was able to look over.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), the committee’s top-ranking Democrat, mentioned in the report’s foreword that these payments originated from some rival governments. It was confirmed in the report that most of the money came from China, which paid $5.5 million to properties owned by Trump.
“This is a limited window on a far-broader universe of foreign government spending that took place,” Raskin told the reporters on Capitol Hill.

Donald Trump made headlines when he attended a hearing in his New York fraud trial in December.
As he spoke to reporters outside the trial, Trump celebrated the fact that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, had been spared as a defendant in the case. However, his claim that he had already “won” the case in an appeals court was false.
The civil trial, presided over by New York State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, has already seen a summary judgment ruling against Trump that holds him liable for fraud. The current focus of the proceedings will determine the extent of punishment for the fraud committed.
The judge’s ruling, which is expected in January, could strip Trump of his New York real estate assets.

This fall, a judge ruled that New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) proved core elements of her case against former President Donald Trump, a decision that found Trump and two of his children, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. – and their businesses – liable for fraud.
Justice Arthur Engoron’s decision found Trump guilty of “repeated and persistent fraud” on his financial statements (known as SFCs) as he overvalued his properties, which enabled Trump’s company to benefit his company for millions of dollars.
Now that both sides completed their arguments in the case before the Christmas holiday, Trump is awaiting a judgment that could strip him of his entire New York City real estate empire.
The former president listed his Fifth Avenue Trump Tower residence as 30,000 square feet, although it is only 10,996. This led to an overvaluation of between $114 million and $207 million. Engoron wrote, “A discrepancy of this order of magnitude,...

Trump International Hotel Waikiki is rebranding, as the owner is buying out a licensing agreement with Donald Trump’s company to join Hilton Worldwide Holding Inc.
The hotel will be renamed Wakea Waikiki Beach and will operate under Lxr Hotels & Resorts. The company allows hotels to access HIlton’s loyalty and distribution engines while remaining a separate entity.
The hotel, which has 462 guest rooms and suites, will be renovated in February.
“We are incredibly proud of our performance at Trump Waikiki since the opening of the iconic tower in November 2009,” said the executive vice president of the Trump Organization Eric Trump in a statement. “We wish them all the best as they bring this property to its next phase.”
The Hawaii property joins others that have escaped the Trump name. Many in New York, Toronto and Panama City have all rebranded since the launch of Trump’s political career and its ensuing controversies.

On Monday, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump and a key executive at the Trump Organization, took the stand for the second time in his family’s civil fraud trial in New York. Trump Jr. was called as the first witness for the defense.
The civil suit, brought about by New York Attorney General Letitia James, alleged that Trump Jr., his father, the Trump Organization and other executives orchestrated a fraudulent scheme over a decade that inflated the value of Trump properties and net worth.
The state is seeking damages of $250 million.
Trump Jr. had testified earlier in the trial on November 2 and 3 when he was called by the attorneys from James’ office to answer questions that regarded the central financial statements of the case. Trump Jr. insisted that he trusted the Trump Organization’s accountants to prepare the statements of the financial condition of the assets.

Donald Trump Jr. took the stand in the New York civil fraud trial against his family and the Trump Organization and claimed that he knew “nothing” about basic accounting principles that he and others are accused of violating.
The suit against former President Donald Trump was brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has accused Trump and his family of fraudulently inflating their net worth to secure better rates on loans.

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial shifted focus to his son, Eric Trump.
Testimony and documents indicated that Eric had sought a “lofty” value for a golf course and was actively involved in the properties’ appraisals.

About a decade ago, Trump’s companies sought appraisals for two of their properties in New York’s suburban Westchester County – the Trump National Golf Club and the estate Seven Springs. At the time, the companies wanted to explore the option of conservation easements for the properties – an...

Former President Donald Trump is displeased with Forbes after the magazine dropped him from its list of the 400 richest Americans for the second time in three years.
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump asserted that the publication “lost most of its relevance long ago.”
“Took me off their Fake Forbes 400 list, just by a ‘whisker,’ even though they know that I should be high up on that now very dated and discredited ‘antique,'” he said. “For years Forbes has attacked me with really dumb writers assigned to hit me hard, and I am now up 60 Points on the Republicans, and beating Crooked Joe by a lot.”
According to the criteria set out by Forbes, Trump’s estimated $2.6 billion fortune came about $300 million short of the threshold for the list.

On Friday, The Trump Organization’s former controller, Jeff McConney, testified that Eric Trump pushed him to inflate the valuations of several of the Trump properties.
The first week of the civil fraud trial came to an end on Friday, as Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. testified alongside McConney, also a co-defendant along with former President Donald Trump.
Internal Trump Organization spreadsheets shown in court on Friday display McConney’s notations that Eric had directed McConney in a phone conversation about specific property valuations. These valuations later appeared on the financial statements that were ruled fraudulent by the judge. Some of these properties include Seven Springs and the Trump National Gold Club Westchester.
Eric’s attorneys have argued that he was unaware that those phone calls with McConney were indeed used to formulate value assets in the financial statements for Trump properties. Trump has attended the trial for three...
