Robert Grow

Robert Grow grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Wayland High
School in 1966. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst
receiving a BS magna cum laude and Masters in Urban and Regional
Planning. During graduate school he participated in several plays at
UMass and Mount Holyoke College and has also been active in community
theater while living in Smithfield, Virginia. His 5 minutes of fame
came in 1999 after a quote in the Washington Post led to an appearance
on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart regarding disappearing cars on the
Capital Beltway. As a 2008 ACCE Ford Fellow in Regionalism and
Sustainable Development he wrote Energy Efficient Streetlights;
Potentials for Reducing Greater Washington's Carbon Footprint which
received international media coverage. Also in 2008 he was a nominee
for the Alliance for Regional Stewardship's Organizational Champion
Award.
