"Meet Os. A Straight Up Ghost Assassin." Dark Sky Films has released a trailer for a horror comedy titled Another Evil, about a wacky ghost exterminator named Os who is hired to get rid of a ghost in a summer home. Steve Zissis (from "Togetherness") stars as Dan, the guy who moves into his family's vacation home and encounters a ghost. The cast includes Jennifer Irwin, Mark Proksch as Os, Dan Bakkedahl, Dax Flame, Steve Little, and Mariko Munro. This looks very fun, I'm glad that we finally get to see another comedic take on haunted house and ghost exterminators (one of the only other ones I can think of is The Frighteners). It feels like this would be a nice double feature with What We Do in the Shadows. Have fun. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Carson D. Mell's Another Evil, direct from YouTube: After encountering a...

Dan just wants his home to be supernatural-free, but he gets caught in the middle of two very different paranormal techniques in the horror comedy Another Evil. It can be difficult differentiating your haunted house movie from the rest of the pack for two reasons. First, there are roughly four hundred of them released every year, and second, they all have to begin in pretty much the same spot with characters in a building of some kind discovering they have ghosts. No one can really do all that much about the first problem — well, the people making the really terrible haunted house movies can stop making them, but the odds of that happening seem slim — but the second? Turns out opening with smart writing and some solid laughs is more than enough to grab and hold viewers’ attention for what’s to come. Dan (Steve Zissis) and his family have come to their new cabin for a relaxing few days away from the city, but part way through a game of charades they discover someone, or something, else...

Principle photography on Another Evil, Carson Mell’s supernatural comedy debut is now complete. Starring Steve Zissis, Mark Proksch, Jennifer Irwin, Dax Flame, Dan Bakkedahl and Steve Little of Todd Rohal’s The Catechism Cataclysm fame, Mell, a three-time Sundance Film Festival alumni thanks to a trio of wacko shorts (see below) shot his feature film debut in Arizona this November. Memory’s Riel Roch Decter (The Wait) and Sebastian Pardo (Palo Alto) produced the film.

The Big Live Comedy Show is here. The slogan for the week-long event is "this better be funny," and the Big Live Comedy Show is our first chance to see if Comedy Week will be as macho as Arnold Schwarzenegger made it seem or just a big waste of time and talent. You’ve heard, “If you build it, they will come.” Well, if you make ‘em laugh, they will hire you. Case in point, comedian Rob Riggle has been making the rounds in various guest roles and his popularity has just won him the starring role in the new Fox pilot, The Gabriels.
You saw him on the big screen in 21 Jump Street. He’s done recent guest work on New Girl and The Cleveland Show. Now the Fox network has plans to put Riggle to work full-time. THR had the inside scoop of the new comedy pilot, The Gabriels.
The pilot centers around a quiet, “introverted, neurotic Wisconsin family that lives in a community of over-sharers.” Riggle will star as Ken Gabriel, “a childlike man with devilish energy.” I’ve got to say, this premise has me scratching my head. What is an over-sharer? Is that like when a co-worker shares too much information?...

It may play as a prequel to the Hangover, especially when you see who produced it, but Project X has some moments of hilarity. It may be more hilarious to a younger generation as my elderly eyes kept thinking about how fast those folks. insurance company was going to drop them. Thomas (Thomas Mann) is having a birthday. Chicago – Do you think a dog in a bounce house is inherently funny or that a gun that shoots tequila is shocking? “Project X” is a movie for you. What’s so remarkably stupid about this truly awful flick is that its creators think there’s humor or storytelling or shock value in any of it.

Teenagers drink. Teenagers swear. Teenagers get laid. There’s your movie. That’s literally it since there are no characters worth caring about in the slightest and the plot is as deep as “teens party” (until the final act, which just gets stupid as the creators realize they’re going to need to get totally ridiculous to write an ending). There, I saved you ninety awful minutes. Go do something actually fun like having a party of your own. Try not to piss off any drug dealers on the way there.

Project X is the latest opus from Todd Phillips, the man behind Old School and The Hangover, who here returns to his Frathouse roots as producer of this high-school based, shot documentary-style comedy that follows one epic night in the life of three teenagers – Thomas, J.B. and Costa – who, in order to up their rep at school, throw an out of control, balls-to-the-wall party to celebrate Thomas’ birthday. With disastrous results. And these aren’t your normal disastrous results either, not unless you class destroying a car, a house and an entire neighbourhood as normal party behaviour!
Like all good movies, Project X is not just a movie about a party that breaks out into a full-scale riot, oh no.

Growing up, I went to plenty of parties, but never one when the parents were out of town. I always felt I missed out on something until I heard the time my younger cousin held such an affair, resulting in $1500 in property damage (in 1980 dollars). Call me uptight or a loser, much as Thomas (Thomas Mann), is in Project X.
Designed to be the ultimate party film, it was based on the recollections of various people who attended outrageous parties while parents were out of town. Cobbling the stories together, Michael Bacall and Matt Drake wrote a script and director Nima Nourizadeh sought out relative unknowns and total unknowns to populate the cast, giving it a fresh feel. Eight different camera systems were used including the main images purportedly shot by an Av studio Dax (Dax Flame) and cell phones given to various extras, who shot moments without others realizing it.

In 2011 Warner Bros. invited audiences to exclusive screenings of the new creation from director Nima Nourizadeh. “An epic, dirty, hilarious movie. The exclusive screening was for the new Warner Bros. film Project X – the party movie to end all party movies - and today we want to offer you the chance to watch the film at the special screening and party hard at the exclusive after-party in London.
Project X follows three seemingly anonymous high school seniors as they attempt to finally make a name for themselves. Their idea is innocent enough: let’s throw a party that no one will forget… but nothing could prepare them for this party. Word spreads quickly as dreams are ruined, records are blemished and legends are born. Project X is a warning to parents and police everywhere.

Project X is not an off-shoot of the TV talent competition or a remake of the Matthew Broderick chimp thriller, but the latest in what seems to be an endless entry in the found footage / hand-held video genre, a film subset ( or conceit ) that is quickly wearing out its welcome at the multiplex. I suppose it really exploded with the box office smash over ten years ago with The Blair Witch Project and continues today with the horror series Paranormal Activity. Just weeks ago the format was used in the super-powered fantasy Chronicle. Now the shakey-cam is utilized for this new ” party ” comedy ( not the first found comedy - The Virginity Hit was a 2010 dud ). Will X fire up lots of big screen yucks or go down like warm stale beer?

Chicago – The legendary high school party is often the myth of memory than actual events, but most people have been there, and that is what makes “Project X” so much fun. Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown are the party masters, rocking in Pasadena, California.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
There is something weirdly voyeuristic about seeing a party go out of control, and “Project X” rolls off the tracks with fireworks to spare. What makes it work is that it’s always conscious of the shadowing civility in the real world, but chooses to toss that in the pool without looking back. The more outrageous the anarchy becomes, the more epic the party and the celebration is, even when the inevitable break down occurs. Plus the production is sharp and tight, with not a wasted frame of the good times, and even the aftermath includes a certain awareness.

Imagine throwing the party you’ve always dreamed of in a venue primed for purpose – pesky neighbours and law enforcement aside. Imagine all the coolest people attending and dancing to some kick-ass tunes. It’s the stuff of decadent dreams that this out-of-control juggernaut feeds off, tapping into a real deep-rooted deviance from our days of youthful carefree living. After all, someone else can pay later; it’s all about tonight and now.
And for The Hangover fans – director Todd Phillips produces this time – there is an even greater sense of the party boys being plunged into the virtual unknown that’s vibrant to watch. It’s also a stark lesson in the perils of social media – phone hacking aside.
Three ‘invisible’ High School seniors, Thomas, Costa and Jb – acting unknowns Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown respectably – get Thomas’s family home to themselves for a weekend while his parents are away.

I guess I just don’t get it. Being the kid that would rather pick up an extra shift at my hourly job than attend an epic rager the likes no one has ever seen means the insanity that ensues in Project X only cements the fact I made the decision staying away. Directed by Nima Nourizadeh and the brainchild of Michael Bacall, Matt Drake and producer Todd Phillips, the idea that what we’re seeing is real has been squashed way before you sit down to experience the carnage. Rather than believe the title is some covert codename for a guerilla shoot, it’s quickly discovered to be one more jokey quip on behalf of Costa (Oliver Cooper) as he readies to put best friend Thomas’ (Thomas Mann) parent’s house on the line in order to ‘change the game’.

Despite the plodding narrative veering wildly between stagnant humor and maudlin interjections, Todd Phillips’ "Due Date" demonstrates in one scene both the appeal and increasingly mean-spirited worldview that the filmmaker has traded in following the success of "The Hangover." It comes when Robert Downey Jr., provoked repeatedly by a bratty child, unleashes a swift punch out of nowhere to his gut, a calm look of manic glee in the actor’s eye as the boy crumples to the floor. The moment shocks, its transgression revealing one more facet of Downey’s character as a well-groomed man one highway trek away from "Falling Down." Like Michael Douglas in that film, Philips allows his characters to be proxies for unspent male angst and wish fulfillment, and this has proved fruitful for the studios that finance his projects. When a similar sort of confrontation occurs halfway through the Phillips-produced "Project X," from a disgruntled,...

A house party goes chaotically wrong in the found-footage comedy, Project X. Here’s Caroline’s review...
If a Skins movie ever gets off the ground, the Project X method might be a good way to go. Being pretty much a grand depiction of a high school party gone to chaotic heights never imagined, the film shouldn't work for anyone older than its young target audience, but it's a thoroughly entertaining ride from start to finish. You'll exit the cinema feeling like you’ve just attended the most epic party ever, no matter how old/uncool/antisocial you feel you are in real life.
Even if a manic high school party filled with drunk 17-year-olds sounds like your idea of hell, Project X will still do a good job of taking you along for the ride. The story and characterisation are paper thin, with the sense that the filmmakers were...

Chicago – The epic party in the upcoming film “Project X” would not have come off the way did if it wasn’t for the planning committee, portrayed by Thomas Mann, Oliver Cooper and Jonathan Daniel Brown. The three relative unknowns took different routes to secure their roles, and kept the festivities going.
Produced by Todd Phillips (”The Hangover,” “Old School”) and directed by newcomer NIma Nourizadeh, “Project X” is the high school version of the party-oriented hijink films that Phillips has previously directed. Simply involving a 17th birthday party that grows to legendary proportions, “Project X” has a lot of surreal fun expanding the concept of having a good time.

Project X
Stars: Thomas Mann, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Oliver Cooper, Dax Flame, Nichole Bloom, Alex Rose Wiesel, Alexis Knapp | Written by Matt Drake, Michael Bacall | Directed by Nima Nourizadeh

Warner Bros. have released a new UK poster for their party movie, Project X. The movie shows the kind of carnage that can happen when your parents go away and leave you with a house to trash! We’re however wondering if this persona is drunk as the cups around him would suggest or is he dead?!

Todd Phillips, the director of Old School and The Hangover brings us the latest in the line of classic raunchy comedies, this time in the form of the Nima Nourizadeh directed Project X.
The film follows the latest Hollywood trend of “documented” films, this time without any terrifying children or noises in the night. Alright, I lied there will be noises in the night as the film follows a group of young friends who try to live the best version of their lives for just one night. The film stars Miles Teller, Oliver Cooper, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Dax Flame, Nichole O’Connor, Thomas Mann, Alexis Knapp and Jillian Reynold.
As far as looks go, the trailer in a sense describes itself. Babes, booze, music, police, babes… whoops sorry about that. The trailer sets off perfectly with almost a dark ominous introduction leading up to Kid Cudi’s...

Warner Bros. has debuted the first trailer for their once mysterious found footage film Project X, which seems to feature a lot of licking and a fair amount of mayhem as a group of high school students set out to throw a name-making house party that gets completely out of control. From what I can tell, the trailer appears to try to be selling some sort of Superbad meets Super 8 shot in first person and I can't necessarily say I'm buying it. The film was directed by first-timer Nima Nourizadeh with Todd Phillips (The Hangover) producing and a fleet of no names starring including Miles Teller, Alexis Knapp, Thomas Mann, Jonathan Daniel Brown, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Nichole O'Connor, Oliver Cooper and Dax Flame. I gave the trailer a watch and there's really nothing to be spoiled that isn't described in the R-rating reason which goes like this: "For crude and sexual content throughout,...
