Back in 2015, David Sandberg rocked the internet with the online release of the Kickstart-funded short film Kung Fury, his ode to 1980s action films and martial arts movies. Several years and nearly 30 million views on YouTube later, a feature-length sequel to Sandberg's short film is now moving forward, and it's been announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast in a key role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger will play the president of the United States in the Kung Fury movie. No stranger to the world of politics, Schwarzenegger served as the Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, so playing the president may be something he's already comfortable with.
Slated to start filming this summer, the feature-length sequel's cast also includes Michael Fassbender and David Hasselhoff, the latter of whom sang and starred in the music video for the short film's featured song, "True Survivor."

Universal Pictures is moving forward on action-adventure take on the young Leonardo da Vinci. Variety reports that the studio has purchased a spec script penned by Jonny Kurzman and has Larry and Charles Gordon on board as producers.
The story will focus on "da Vinci's quest to stop Renaissance Europe from returning to the Dark Ages. The Mona Lisa and Last Supper painter was also a mathematician, architect, sculptor, writer, scientist and inventor -- including concepts for a helicopter, a tank, solar power, a calculator and the double hull."
The production will be overseen by Lawrence Gordon Prods. VP Philip Westgren. Larry Gordon produced Watchmen and the Hellboy films. Charles Gordon produced Hitman and The Girl Next Door. This sounds like an interesting project. I love history and revisionist projects, so this sounds pretty cool.
