Lav Diaz’s A Tale Of Filipino Violence will make its world premiere as part of the international competition line-up of the FIDMarseille international film festival taking place in France from July 5-11.
Further world premieres in the selection include Sofia Bohdanowicz, Burak Çevik and Blake Williams’ A Woman Escapes and Spanish film Aftersun by Lluís Galter.

Pingyao International Film Festival (Pyiff) has unveiled the full line-up for its fourth edition (October 10-19), which like many Asian festivals during the Covid-19 pandemic is taking place as a physical event without international guests.

The market premieres of Gaël Lépingle and Amro Hamzawi’s works shine bright in a line-up which will also provide sneak-peeks of Arthur Harari and Olivier Peyon’s feature films in post-production. Young, French talent is being showcased by the international sales division of the Parisian firm Le Pacte (steered by Jean Labadie) with two premières scheduled for the Cannes Film Festival’s Online Marché du Film (running 22-26 June). Chiefly set to be unveiled to buyers is Atomic Summer, the first feature film coming courtesy of Gaël Lépingle, described by its producer Nicolas Anthomé as a mix between a teen movie and a catastrophe film. The cast stars Shaïn Boumedine (Mektoub My Love : Canto Uno and Mektoub My Love : Intermezzo), Carmen Kassovitz, Théo Augier, Constantin Vidal and Manon Valentin. Written by the director in league with Pierre Chosson, the story centres around Victor, who’s around twenty years of age.
The Film Society of Lincoln Center and Uni France again team up for the 24th edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema at Lincoln Center, this year from February 28 through March 10. The series puts an empasis on showcasing new and up and coming voices across French cinema and includes Romain Laguna (Meteorites), Sébastien Marnier (School's Out), Virgil Vernier (Sophia Antipolis), Gaël Lépingle (Time of the Pirates) and Judith Davis (Whatever Happened to My Revolution). Also represented here are seasoned Rendez-Vous alums, such as Bruno Dumont (Coin Coin and Extra Humans), Mia Hansen-Løve (Maya) and Gilles Lelouche (Sink or Swim). The series also highlights a number of French comedies this year, opening with the multiple César Award-nominated The Trouble with You, starring comedian Pio Mamaï...

Berlin-based blockchain platform Cinemarket has sealed acquisition deals with French production outfit Perspective Films and two sales agents – Miami-based Figa Films and Argentina’s Shortsfit – as well as several new partnerships with film festivals and streaming platforms.
Perspective Films is launching several titles on the Cinemarket platform, including Michaël Dacheux’s L’Amour Debout, which was selected for Cannes Acid 2018, and Gaël Lépingle’s Seuls Les Pirates, which received best French film at Fid Marseille 2018.
