Disney sent Mary Poppins fans into meltdown earlier this week by announcing a sequel set 20 years after the original.
But it shouldn't really be that surprising considering original author and Poppins creator Pl Travers's novel spawned seven follow-up books. Based on them, what supercalifragilistic storylines might Mary Poppins 2 shock fans of the magical nanny with?
1. Mary Poppins in space
Travers's novel Mary Poppins and the House Next Door was published in 1988 and saw the flying childminder pull the Banks kids Jane, Michael and their adoptive brother Luti (hailing from the South Seas) away from an evil rival by way of a trip to the moon. Yes, the moon.
Intriguingly, Mary's uncle turns out to be the Man in the Moon, hinting at cosmic origins that make her sound more like a Guardians of the Galaxy member than a no-nonsense governess.
2. Mary Poppins on a planet of cats

As Doctor Who series 8 draws towards its end, Andrew ticks off everything we've learned about Michelle Gomez's character, Missy, so far.
Warning: contains spoilers for Doctor Who series 8 up to and including Flatline.
The article will begin after a picture of Daphne The Spoiler Squirrel. Only if you're ready for spoiler chat should you scroll past Daphne. She won't be offended either way.
"Clara. My Clara, I chose well."
Empiricism and Steven Moffat series arcs. We meet again.
The line above, said at the end of tonight’s Doctor WHo episode, Flatline, strongly implies that Missy chose Clara for something, which ties in with the on-going plot strand about the ‘Woman in the shop’ who gave Clara the Doctor’s number. It doesn’t, of course, confirm that it was Missy in the shop, that she was involved, or indeed even that it was Clara who was chosen.

It's no surprise that summer tends to bring out the hottest guys in New York. And as the dog days of summer start to wane on the streets of the Big Apple, it's time to once again turn our attention to where the hottest of the hot like to spend their time: the New York stage.
Sure, movies and television have their share of rippling abs, but glimpsing a hottie on the screen is nothing compared to the live, in-the-flesh experience. So without further ado, we present the Hottest Guys of New York Theater!
Cesar Abreu
Ricky Martin isn't the only sexy stud to come to us via the pop group Menudo - we can thank our lucky stars we also get the stunning, studly Cesar Abreu. Currently dancing for the Metropolitan Opera, Cesar has also, unsurprisingly, been featured many times in the annual stripfest Broadway Bares.

Walt Disney once endured an epic struggle to bring Mary Poppins to the big screen. First he had a fourteen year fight with the Australian author P.L. Travers, the writer behind the creation, who fought his every move to make it into a film. Not many people know about the hard road Disney travelled to film the project, but everyone knows the outcome: mary Poppins became a money spinning classic for Disney and it turned the young Julie Andrews into a worldwide star. Now Hollywood A-Lister Tom Hanks, who's work helped the long-running Toy Story franchise to earn almost $2 billion globally, is said to be considering playing Disney himself. Or at least that's the hope that Disney is holding out for Hanks to play their famous founder in Saving Mr. Banks, the real-life story of the legendary animators fraught attempts to secure the rights and bring Mary Poppins to the silver screen.
