"Wu-Tang: An America Saga" may be bidding fans farewell after an impressive three-season run, each full of exciting hip-hop misadventures, but the story isn't ending without one last mind-blowing lap. The hit biopic drama, which made its splashy debut back in 2019, kicked off its third and final season on Hulu on Feb. 15, jumping to Wu-Tang Clan's wild success years after the big basement flood that almost ruined their solo albums. “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” has been renewed for Season 3 at Hulu, which will also be the show’s last.
The news comes just over one week after the finale of Season 2 of the show, which is based on the true story of the pioneering rap group. The show is also inspired by the books “The Wu-Tang Manual” and “Tao of Wu,” both of which were co-authored by RZA, a founding member of The Wu-Tang Clan.

“Wu Tang: An American Saga,” created and written by the RZA and Alex Tse, depicts the early days of the Wu-Tang Clan in 1990s New York. Hulu renewed the scripted series for a second season in January.
But the end of its 10-episode first season had many fans wondering, “Whither U-God?,” a member of the rap collective since its inception (real name Lamont Hawkins), who had yet to make an appearance. Fans can wonder no more; RZA confirmed to Variety exclusively that U-God will be depicted in the show’s sophomore season.
“Yes, he’s signed on for Season 2. He always was going to be part of it,” said RZA, adding that U-God has been consulting on the show.
In 2018, U-God published “Raw: My Journey into the Wu-Tang,” a memoir on his career with the group, at one point detailing how fractured the rap collective had become.

"Light my way in darkness, so I may spread your seed." There have been a handful of films that play with how an alien being would act if it inhabited a human body. What would it make of our strange fleshy bodies? Would it know how to interact? Would it know how to speak? Dominant Species is a short film that also wonders about these questions. Directed by Joseph Sackett, it's described as a "coming-of-age story about coming to terms with the ways you're different." The plot is about 10 aliens in human host bodies learning how to be "men". Short of the Week explains "most of the film is an examination of these new hosts' process of familiarization with the peculiarities of humanity and education in masculine stereotypes." Starring as the 10: Francisco Carrillo, Justin Chiao, Julian Cihi, Marchánt Davis, Vasile Flutur, Zach Fifer, Julio Lousav, Matthew Faroul, Julian Elijah Martinez,...

RZA speaks about his new office-bound lifestyle with reverence — the grind and mundanity, structure and camaraderie. The writers’ room for Hulu’s new original series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, is, in his words, a utopian ideal. He describes working on the show with words like “sacred” and “therapy.” From October 2018 to January 2019, he traded in the 10-member brotherhood of the Wu-Tang Clan for a 10-person writing staff writing a 10-episode season of television. And what RZA cherished most of all were the coffee runs.

Bobby Diggs, aka RZA from the Wu-Tang Clan, used a curious analogy when speaking with TheWrap about Hulu’s upcoming scripted series tracking the rise of the legendary rap group: He said it was like “making sweet potato pie.”
RZA was describing both his and co-creator Alex Tse’s feelings towards seeking involvement from members from the real Wu-Tang Clan. We’ll let him explain it from here.
“We know that we’re making sweet potato pie, and we know that it takes ingredients. And we know that this guy does got some good nutmeg, and this guy got some good butter. But we know where to get nutmeg and butter from too. And we’re making this pie. Some members will be in town and they’ll say ‘Oh we’re going to come by the writers’ room.’ And maybe they don’t come in time. Some members, they’re right there.

“Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” a new series on Hulu assaying the rise of the Wu-Tang Clan as recollected by one of its members, joins a recent wave of art in which the subjects tell high-gloss versions of their own stories.
Last year, “Bohemian Rhapsody” — a hagiographic look at the rise of the band Queen, made with the enthusiastic assent and guidance of that group’s surviving members, became an Oscar-winning smash hit. It was followed this summer by “Rocketman,” a big-budget retelling of Elton John’s life story in which John, too, participated. Both versions were told redemptively, with a certain glowing admiration for both the musicianship of their subjects and other, loftier qualities. In 2015’s “Straight Outta Compton,” about the rap group N.W.A., the involvement was yet more literal: Not merely did the rappers in question produce the film, but Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr.

Hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan recently was the subject of a four-part documentary series on Showtime, but founding member RZA says that Hulu’s forthcoming Wu drama will give viewers even more of a glimpse into the band as there were things the members were “too shy to say in front of a camera”.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga, which launches September 4 on the streaming platform, tells the story of the band starting in early 1990s. It looks at the group’s members, who grew up during the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, and tracks the Clan’s formation — a vision of Bobby Diggs aka RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young black men who are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.

Based on one of the most influential and consequential groups in hip-hop history, Hulu’s “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” is inspired by “The Wu-Tang Manual,” The RZA’s first written introduction to the philosophy and history of hip-hop’s original dynasty; the “Tao of Wu,” the second philosophical book, and the true story of formation of the Wu-Tang Clan.
Set in early 1990s New York City, at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic, the show tracks the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who works to bring together a dozen young, black men that are torn between careers in music and lives of crime, but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.

Bryan Cranston’s blistering performance as Network‘s mad-as-hell prophet of the airwaves – now ranting from Broadway’s Belasco Theatre – is all the proof anyone could need that an actor can demolish any and all associations to a role that audiences carry to their seats.
I’m not referring to our memories of Peter Finch’s instant classic performance of raving newsman Howard Beale in Sidney Lumet’s 1976 masterwork. The ghost Cranston battles is his own, and even if by now he’s an old hat at ripping away a perma-glued fictional persona, his Network star turn is no less mesmerizing, so thoroughly does the actor strip away Walter White.
And Lbj (All the Way) and Dalton Trumbo (Trumbo) and hapless Hal (Malcolm in the Middle). But those characters – might as well toss in Seinfeld‘s oily dentist Tim Whatley, too – can’t really compete with Walter White, the high...
