Sülke Schulz (originally Silke) was born in 1972 in Guben, a small town in eastern Germany. She started as a school's news-person for the local media and was involved in street theater projects in the late 80'ies. She then moved to the west with her parents, still a minor.
Between 1991 and 1998 Sülke worked in several bookstores and on construction sites and took her A-levels same time.
A friend asked her to write a screenplay in 2000, because he liked her short stories.
She then studied screenplay at the film school 'Konrad Wolf' in Potsdam-Babelsberg and changed her name in 2002 to avoid being mixed-up with other writers; one novelist and one screenplay writer, with the same name.
She publishes her novels as 'Sofie Koffa' and runs a cartoon blog called 'uglytoons'. Her oeuvre contains mainly short movies, industrial advertising, experimental and animated movies.
Schulz is unmarried, has no children and lives in Berlin.
