Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville Horror film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
With Amityville Uprising, Thomas J. Churchill joins illustrious company as the only director of three Amityville films.
After kicking off his run with Amityville Harvest (2020) which focused on a film crew interviewing a vampire, Churchill’s second entry was 2001’s “werewolf in a women’s half-way house” title Amityville Moon. Now he’s back for his third film in the “series,” a self-referential zombie outing.
What makes the new film intriguing is less the details of the plot – which include a chemical explosion at a military base with unleashes red acid rain on Amityville and reanimates the dead – but how the film acts as the last part of an unofficial Amityville trilogy.
The same issues that plagued Churchill’s previous entries pop up here: too many characters,...

"They're all living for pleasure... it's like a disease." Momentum Pictures has debuted the trailer for an indie horror-thriller titled Mollywood, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Morocco Vaughn originally from Chicago. The film is about a psychotic serial killer who disguises himself as a drug dealer in order to "deliver" young people their worshiped drugs at parties. Vinicius Machado stars as Zach, a determined detective trying to track him and catch him before he kills more. Also starring Anastasia Zorin, Harold Dennis, Micah Fitzgerald, Billy Dec, Waka Flocka Flame, Arianna Lexus, & Kimberly Michelle Vaughn. This looks hyper violent and intensely terrifying, but that could be because there's some intense Edm music in it. This might actually just be so crazy that it might turn out pretty good, but we'll have to see. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Morocco Vaughn's Mollywood, direct from YouTube: "A killer Edm thriller.

So being the nerd I am I love seeing characters from some of my favorite storied being taken up by fans. No they may not have the budget of a summer blockbuster but something can be said for when you know the characters enough you produce a compelling story that truly captures these heroes and villains. Basically I love fan films. I've been very lucky to talk to lots of creators out there. Mark Cheng from Red Retrieval, Chelton Perry from Teen Titans Project and a few others. Well after watching Sweet Madness by Peter Dukes I've got another favorite added to my list.
So Sweet Madness is a Harley Quinn short and while some would say the character is over exposed I can agree with them on the terms that Harley is a good guy. No I tend to lean towards the Harley that's a villain, sure she's likable...

We recently came in contact with Peter Dukes, a talented filmmaker and founder of Dream Seekers Productions, and received the scoop on preparations for his sixteenth film. Ever heard of a naughty little vixen named Harley Quinn?
That’s right. Dukes, who normally leans toward the horror genre on projects, admittedly does not normally do fan films he is breaking his own rule just this once to show some much needed Harley love that we haven’t seen nearly enough on film. When asked about the reasoning behind undertaking such a project, Dukes stated:
“It's of the utmost importance to me that this film respects the origins of Harley, as I'm a huge fan, but I'm also not afraid to be bold. To bring to life our own unique renditions of Harley and the Joker, and place them within a story that I feel will stand out from the pack...

Set in Russia in 1918, The Tsarevich tells the moving story of Prince Alexei Romanov and his battle with conscience, illness, and harsh reality during the Russian Civil War. It’s an ambitious and complicated topic for a short film to tackle, but director Geoffroy Faugérolas was apparently more than up for the challenge. In its fifteen minutes, The Tsarevich manages to both intensely capture interest and create genuine emotional investment. It’s a powerful piece of character focused filmmaking, and I’ll be watching with interest to see how it fares at upcoming film festivals.
