Chad Michael Murray is open to returning to the Freaky Friday sequel and reprising his role of Jake alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
In a new interview, the actor said he would like to be involved in the sequel film currently being developed by Disney.
“If Jake has a story to tell, I’d be there in a heartbeat,” Murray told E! News while promoting Mother of the Bride. “Are you kidding me? Just to watch Jamie and Lindsay, to go back to work… To watch all that energy that Jamie brings to set… Hollywood royalty, period.”
Murray said he “learned so much” from Curtis on the set of the 2003 film and added, “If I had the opportunity, I would just dial in.”

Freaky Friday 2 is moving ahead at Disney with Nisha Ganatra directing, here are the details we’ve got of the follow-up.
While Jamie Lee Curtis is of course a horror icon from the Halloween franchise, and she won an Oscar in 2022 for her performance in Everything, Everywhere All At Once, Freaky Friday, the beloved body swap film in which she starred opposite Lindsay Lohan, is a terrific comedic performance.
Based on the book by Mary Rodgers, the 2003 film, a remake of the 1976 film of the same name which starred Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, follows Tess Coleman (Curtis), a single mother and uptight psychiatrist, and her rebellious teenage daughter, Anna (Lohan). Constantly at odds with each other due to their differing perspectives on life, they find themselves magically swapping bodies after a mysterious fortune cookie incident at a Chinese restaurant. As Tess wakes up in Anna’s body and vice versa,...

Long since circling in the rumoursphere before Disney confirmed it was in development last year, a sequel to 2003 body-swap comedy Freaky Friday took a big step forward with the hiring of Nisha Ganatra to direct the reunion of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. The pair would return as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.
Though The Hollywood Reporter brings word of Ganatra (who has worked on the small screen likes of Welcome To Chippendales and movies including Late Night) boarding to direct and that Dollface's Jordan Weiss wrote the most recent draft of the script, few other details have emerged. It'll clearly have more body-swap chaos (and there are hints of other generations in the Coleman family involved this time), but we're going to have to wait and see how it all goes down.
While Curtis and Lohan are both listed as "in talks," they seem pretty much committed to coming back,...

For one glorious and weirdly prolonged moment in the early 2000s, audiences simply couldn't get enough of body-swap comedies. Two extremely different people from very opposite walks of life magically turned into each other overnight! They looked the same and talked the same, but deep down they weren't who they seemed to be! Hijinks ensued!
Because Hollywood is absolutely no fun and more or less stopped letting movie stars do their thing, this trend died out with a whimper over time ... but maybe it's now getting the comeback it deserves? Rather than something new and original, however, Disney is going back to the drawing board and resurrecting 2003's Millennial classic "Freaky Friday." I guess we'll take what we can get at this point. The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on a new sequel in the works, finally gaining traction over 20 years after the original. That's not all, though. “Dollface” is a comedy series about female solidarity with Jules Wiley (Kat Dennings) playing the protagonist role. Produced by ABC Signature, this show has something surreal about it. It reveals what life is like for Jules, who suffers heartbreak after getting dumped by her longtime boyfriend. The character deals with the challenges of rejoining female social circles and rekindling lost friendships.
The plot takes unusual twists and turns to tell the story of female friendships in the modern world. Unlike most romantic comedies, the protagonist doesn’t seek comfort in a new love interest but aims to mend broken friendships. As a result, the storyline has a fresh take on girl power and sisterhood spiced with a bit of humor.
Film pundits and viewers showered mostly positive reviews upon the show. Some reviewers praised the main cast’s role in making the show a joy to watch. Others felt it...

Dollface is over for good at Hulu.
The streaming service has canceled the Kat Dennings-fronted comedy from creator Jordan Weiss after two seasons, according to TV Line.
The first season of Dollface burst onto screens in November 2019, landing a renewal in early 2020.
Hulu touted the success of the series at the time, but the second season was delayed due to Covid-19.
It finally returned in February, but it's unclear whether the show didn't perform as well as expected, or if there is some other reason for the decision.
The initial season did have a lot of buzz, but the TV landscape is filled with content these days, especially with the rise of streaming.

“Dollface” has been canceled after two seasons at Hulu, Variety has confirmed.
The news comes around three months after the release of Season 2, which dropped in February in its entirety. The series starred Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell and Esther Povitsky.
In Season 2, Jules (Kat Dennings) and her best friends must balance keeping their group together as they navigate work, love, and a deeper relationship with each of themselves.
Season 1 of “Dollface” aired in 2019. It was renewed in January 2020 but production on the second season was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Both seasons consisted of 10 episodes.
The show received mixed reviews from critics, with the two seasons averaging a 54 critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, though it does have a 78 audience approval rating. In his review of the first season for Variety, Daniel D’Addario wrote:
“Its fantasies aren’t fanciful enough to compel us, and its reality seems perpetually elided.

After a years-long hiatus, Jules (Kat Dennings), Madison (Brenda Song), Stella (Shay Mitchell), and Izzy (Esther Povitsky) are back in Hulu's "Dollface," which returns for its sophomore season on Feb. 11. Based on creator Jordan Weiss's college writing sample, "Dollface" follows protagonist Jules as she's forced to reconnect with her college friends after a sudden breakup. "It's bizarre to have grown up with these characters. It's been nice to be able to put my own experiences into both seasons, almost like a time capsule," Weiss tells Popsugar. "I've been single working on the show, I've been dating, and now I'm in a serious relationship, and it's funny the way my perspective changes, but I try to let my friendships be a huge part of my life no matter what."
"Friendship stories are universal regardless of gender. That said, I don't think there's any reason not to appreciate the show specifically through the female lens.

Hulu’s “Dollface” has its Season 2 premiere on Friday, and Kat Dennings reprises her role as an ever-reluctant Jules, guided once again by the Cat Lady (a snarky cat-headed sage voiced by Beth Grant). While the first season followed Jules in her attempt to reconnect with college friends after a breakup, Season 2 takes us on the reconciled group’s sometimes-rocky-sometimes-rhapsodic ride to 30.
Jules, Madison (Brenda Song), Izzy (Esther Povitski) and Stella (Shay Mitchell) navigate new jobs, new relationships and new trials in their friendship. This new stage takes them to some wild places — from tripping at a music festival to starting a bar just for women — all punctuated by the sharply observant magical realism of the show’s first season.
Series creator Jordan Weiss developed the initial idea in her early 20s, premiering the show on Hulu in 2019 at just 26. Now, Season 2 boasts an all-women director slate as well as...

A lot in the world has changed since last we saw the foursome at the center of Jordan Weiss’s Hulu female-centric sitcom “Dollface.” A global pandemic, quarantine, social unrest, rampant targeted hate crimes. The pre-pandemic Season 1 was about Jules discovering the power of female friendships while reconnecting with her besties after neglecting them during her five-year relationship. Unfortunately, not only does Season 2 lose sight of this core tenet, but regardless of all this upheaval in the world around them, the privileged lives of these women don’t seem to be much affected.

After the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday night denied a request to issue emergency relief blocking Texas’ new law that bans abortion at six weeks and, say opponents, effectively eliminates access to abortions statewide, some big names in entertainment expressed their opinions about the legislation.

Reese Witherspoon, Alyssa Milano, Dua Lipa, Kerry Washington, St. Vincent, Eva Longoria Baston, Bad Robot and P!nk were among them. Many shared an image with the text, “I stand in solidarity with Texans & people everywhere seeking reproductive freedom.” The full list of the celebrities who support that sentiment is below; the vast majority of the signatories are women.
Washington also shared a link to a Planned Parenthood petition which, among other things, maintains that “health care — including safe, legal abortion — is a human right.

Dollface will be returning for a second season despite production delays caused by the Covid pandemic.
The Kat Dennings-fronted comedy launched in November 2019 and the streamer called it one of its “best performing new binge series for subscriber engagement” at the time. It was renewed for a second season in January 2020.
However, there had been concern that Dollface might be the latest scripted series to have it renewal reversed due to Covid.
Craig Erwich, President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu Originals, assures Deadline that this is not the case and said “we have a plan to bring it back”.
“That was a show that was impacted by Covid, it was one of the top shows we launched in [2019] and I’m excited to have it come back for season 2,” he added.

Titled after the cringe-worthy nickname Jules' (Kat Dennings) ex-boyfriend gave her during their five-year relationship, Dollface proves to be a perfect weekend binge.
It has its flaws and imperfections, but it's a strong and light-hearted depiction of female friendship and seeks to show the importance of maintaining other relations beyond romantic relationships.
The basic premise of the show centers around Jules and her attempt to rebuild her college friendships with Madison (Brenda Song) and Stella (Shay Mitchell), which she failed to foster during her relationship with Jeremy (Conner Hines).
Though the intentions and larger message of the show start strong and waver a bit toward the end, we still are left with an entertaining 10 episodes.
Many other reviews have criticized the shallowness of the show, and I don't disagree, but I think they discredit it a bit too much. The show satirically dramatizes the world of women and what it...

While a miss for some viewers, Hulu's Dollface, with its pink-filtered millennial fantasy premise, definitely has its charms. Its fun, poppy vibe comes easily, especially with leading ladies like Kat Dennings and Shay Mitchell. Now that the binge-able half-hour sitcom has made its merry way through queues, will we see a second season in the future? Here's why there's a chance we could - if we put aside the fact that we can't see the streaming numbers.
Let's first talk about the way season one wraps up, which is just open-ended enough for another season. Basically, Jules aggressively drags Colin for hurting Madison and her boss, storming out of her ex-boyfriend's sister's wedding with her three pals. The women hijack the wedding car and go on a wild journey of their own. Dollface doesn't end with a traditional happily-ever-after, but it does hint at a bright, messy future for its intrepid heroes.

Jordan Weiss, the creator and writer behind the forthcoming comedy “Dollface,” first wrote the series while in school at USC. Now, the 10-episode series has been produced by Margot Robbie’s production company Luckychap Entertainment for Hulu, and stars bold-faced names such as Kat Dennings, Shay Mitchell and Brenda Song,
“I wrote it as my writing sample when I was an assistant in college, while working for another comedy writer at the time,” Weiss said during Hulu’s Paleyfest event in Los Angeles, Calif. on Tuesday night.
While Weiss had no intentions of the series getting picked up, a former assistant with whom Weiss briefly worked, showed off the script while helping on the set of “I, Tonya,” which then led to Robbie and Scott Morgan deciding to develop the story.
“I was like, ‘My staff example?’ I was just trying to get a job on ‘New Girl!’” Weiss joked.

In the forthcoming Hulu comedy Dollface, Kat Dennings returns to TV as Jules, who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women and rekindle the female friendships she left behind. Many times in TV series, female friendships are framed in a codependent toxic lens, but with Dollface, they kept their distance from all of that.
“We think of it just about friendships,” Dennings said at TCA when addressing the stigma that is often attached to female friendships — especially with a character who is reacquainting herself with them.
Dollface star and executive producer Dennings was joined on the TCA stage by show creator and Ep Jordan Weiss, executive producer and director Stephanie Laing as well as co-stars Brenda Song and Shay Mitchell to talk about the relationships in the comedy that often uses heightened reality to move the narrative forward.
