There have been many awkward moments in the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, and this one is definitely getting added to the list. In TV Insider’s exclusive preview of the May 9 episode of Grey’s Anatomy, a nurse tries to shoot her shot with Winston (Anthony Hill) and asks him out. The nurse wants to grab a drink with Winston to get to know him better. Winston’s flattered but he holds off on the date. “My schedule’s a little crazy right now, but I’ll keep that in mind.” Thankfully, the nurse doesn’t see this as a total rejection. She walks away with a smile on her face. Unfortunately for Winston, Richard (James T. Pickens) witnesses this flirty exchange. Richard, who just happens to be his ex Maggie’s (Kelly McCreary) father! “She seems nice,” Richard says to Winston. Even though Maggie left for Chicago last season,...

John Wick has infiltrated the world of video games and television, and now it’s time to conquer the pinball world. Lionsgate has teamed with Stern Pinball (the same folks behind the Jaws pinball machine) to release a new series of pinball machines inspired by the series of films.
Available now at retailers in Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition models, players will step into the role of the world’s greatest assassin as he fights to escape his past. As the titular character, players can engage in high-speed car chases and fast-action drifting across the playfield, which incorporates models and artwork inspired by iconic locations from the franchise, including the New York Continental Hotel and the Red Circle Club.
Players can also open John Wick’s weapons crate to reveal a hidden shot target path to retrieve an array of weapons. You must use the sculpted Blood Oath Marker carefully – or risk the consequences.

Keanu Reeves’ John Wick franchise is one of the most celebrated action franchises in the world. The series consists of four films, beginning with Reeves’ John Wick returning to his old life in the underworld after the death of his wife and beloved dog. The series was lauded for its inventive action choreography and world-building.
While Reeves’ John Wick may be a typical action movie character, a trained man with a dark past, there seem to be some extremely particular similarities with another character. John Reese, played by Jim Caviezel, was the protagonist of Jonathan Nolan’s sci-fi crime series Person of Interest. The two characters seem to have a lot in common.

It’s not uncommon for films to have reshoots when the initial production wraps. Certain scenes would need more energy, more clarity, a better location, etc. However, it was recently reported that the John Wick spin-off, Ballerina, is being pushed back an entire year so that the film can undergo some big reshoots. After the massive success of John Wick: Chapter 4 brought the franchise into the billion-dollar club, Lionsgate is finding ways to continue the series with or without Keanu Reeves since Mr. Wick may or may not finally be at rest.
Ian McShane, who plays Winston in the films, recently appeared on BBC’s The One Show and spoke candidly about the studio bringing in Wick series director Chad Stahelski after they weren’t satisfied with the original cut. McShane says that the movie isn’t undergoing reshoots but having new shoots. He explains, “They’re new-shooting for Ballerina.

If you were looking forward to seeing Ana de Armas kick some ass in the upcoming John Wick spinoff, I’ve got some bad news. Lionsgate announced today that Ballerina will be pushed back a full year, with the release date moving from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025.
Deadline reports that the release date push will give Ballerina the opportunity to do a few reshoots. John Wick architect Chad Stahelski will be working with director Len Wiseman on “additional action sequences for the movie, to amp it up even more than it is.“
Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as a young woman with killer skills who sets out to get revenge when hitmen kill her family. As the film takes place in the John Wick universe, it will feature appearances from several franchise characters, including Ian McShane as Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel, the late Lance Reddick as Charon, the Continental’s concierge,...

American Star is the latest film from Spanish director Gonzalo López-Gallego whose output has ranged from Apollo 18 and Open Grave to Backdraft 2, a 28-year later Dtv sequel to the 1991 hit. Here he and writer Nacho Faerna are presenting a variation on a well-worn theme, the criminal who’s about to pull off their last job before retiring.
In this case, the criminal is a hitman named Wilson who has come to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands to perform what should be an easy assignment. But complications ensue right from the start, when he drives out to the unnamed target’s secluded house, he’s not there. Someone does arrive, but it’s a young woman, not the man he was expecting. Wilson bides his time, then slips out unseen,...

If you thought Grey’s Anatomy was losing its luster, the official trailer for Grey’s Anatomy Season 20 will wash away those concerns.
With new episodes set to get underway on Thursday, March 14, at 9/8c, ABC is kicking off the promotional train relatively early.
The first footage teases plenty of big storylines, including Ellen Pompeo’s return as Meredith Grey and the fate of one of Grey Sloane Memorial’s most popular faces.
While it’s unclear how many episodes Pompeo will be back for, it’s interesting that we’re getting so many spoilers about where her storyline will be at.
As you’ll recall, Meredith left Seattle for Boston, but there were still plenty of questions about where she would go next, including her romantic life.
Of course, we’ve watched her relationship with Nick (Scott Speedman) and its ups and downs.

"It was that night I discovered that most things you consider evil or wicked are simply lonely, and lacking in the social niceties." One of my personal favorite Tim Burton movies is Big Fish, the 2003 story of a man and his father and a fish. Among many other creatures. The legendary Stan Winston and his team at Stan Winston Studio were once again hired by Tim Burton to create a handful of special effects for Big Fish (we also posted their video on creating The Penguin for Burton's Batman Returns). As everyone knows, Winston is one of the best in the business, and his work is always exciting to see. The S.W. School of Character Arts website has posted another interesting making of look at their behind-the-scenes process, featuring many photos & videos of their creature creations. The video covers the werewolf, the lion, Helena Bonham Carter's Swamp Witch,...

Updated With Trailer: ABC is preparing audiences for the return of Grey’s Anatomy.
Dr. Meredith Grey is front and center in the new teaser for Season 20, despite Ellen Pompeo moving to a guest star role to make time for her Hulu limited series Orphan. While Meredith might have moved to Boston at the end of Season 19, it appears she’ll be making a few trips back to Seattle to visit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the upcoming episodes.
The teaser opens with Meredith seemingly asking Miranda Bailey, “How long do I have to wait?” — although, it’s not clear what she’s waiting on. In another interaction, Bailey tells Meredith that the interns “are in trouble.”
Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) is also back at Grey Sloan and hovering over the interns after the Season 19 finale when he and Meredith professed their feelings for each other in Boston. Speaking of the interns,...

Short days on site, nice rental cars, plus room and board — being a hitman doesn’t seem so bad. But a job is a job, and everybody deserves a vacation now and then. That’s what Wilson (Ian McShane) treats himself to in “American Star,” checking into a Canary Islands resort after discovering his target’s residence empty for the time being. A foreign location and senior citizen with a gun can often indicate a bargain bin actioner these days, but filmmaker Gonzalo López-Gallego surprises with an art-house touch, pushing his star into a considered, if also very safe, tranquility.
The director’s most rewarding decision: simply trusting McShane to summon the mood. Now 81 years old, the decorated English actor conveys a wealth of character with his delicate but steady gait, playing a hitman of few words. It’s beguiling enough to see Wilson scan an empty room for signs...

Ian McShane is 81, but you’d never know it watching him in “American Star.”
Also a producer of director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s new film, the English actor plays Wilson, a seasoned assassin who visits the Canary Islands’ Fuerteventura for a job, but instead unexpectedly becomes involved in the life of a French expatriate (Nora Arnezeder) and the lonely child of a vacationing couple (Oscar Coleman). From the first scene, McShane dances across the screen with the same effortlessness of a performer a quarter of his age, as his character reckons with an escalating series of disruptions to a sequence of events whose outcome is inevitable: someone dying of a bullet from his gun.
Though he’s been working in film, TV and theater for more than six decades, McShane has become well known in America largely in the last two, playing mentors and authority figures on series like “Deadwood” and “American Gods,...

Winston knew Charon would do The Continental proud. But when it comes to miniseries The Continental, Ian McShane doesn’t have the same sentiment regarding the John Wick franchise, saying it’s nothing more than a cash grab.
Ian McShane, who played The Continental owner Winston in the four John Wick movies, held no punches when it came to criticizing the Peacock miniseries. And no, he has no intention of watching it. “I wouldn’t watch it. I have no intentions – nobody – I don’t think Keanu [Reeves] watched it, neither has Chad [Stahelski]. It had nothing to do with our movies. It’s just a question of a TV company cashing in on the series and taking the option to [air?]. They never asked us about anything so why would I be interested in seeing it? I’m afraid their arrogance in getting the show out is beyond me so I wish them well.

Elton John is the latest member of the Egot club: the beloved singer-songwriter just won an award for Outstanding Live Variety Special at the 75th annual Emmys, rounding out an impressive collection of trophies celebrating his five-plus decade career.
John won the trophy for "Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium," a concert movie set at the same stadium where he famously donned a glittery silver baseball uniform to play to a sold-out crowd in October 1975. In 2022, Disney+ live-streamed John's final North American show on his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour, which went on to become the highest-grossing tour of all time, per Billboard.
The musician reached Egot status 37 years after receiving his first Grammy win, for the song "That's What Friends Are For." Since 1987, the artist has won several additional Grammys (including for "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and "Candle in the Wind 1997"), Oscars for the aforementioned "Lion King...

Elton John has finally completed his Egot.

Elton wasn’t present at the Emmys, apparently due to a recent knee operation, but his partner David Furnish was, and he was thanked by Ben Winston, who co-founded Fulwell 73, which produced the special, for his “creative vision”.

Elton John is the latest member of the Egot club, scoring his first Emmy for best variety special (live).
The 2023 Emmy Awards win for the musician’s Farewell From Dodger Stadium special, which he secured during Monday night’s telecast, joins his Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.
The Disney+ special chronicles the musician’s final North American show as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. The tour began in 2018 and was set to end in 2021 but was postponed, like many tours, by the Covid-19 pandemic.
John was recovering from a knee operation and couldn’t attend the show, so producer Ben Winston accepted the award on his behalf. “He’s absolutely fine, but he wanted to send his love and thanks to the Television Academy for this incredible award,” Winston said. “We did know this was going to be historic because it was going to win a man...

The Oscar-shortlisted and Annie-nominated animated short “War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John & Yoko” couldn’t be (sadly) timelier with the wars in Ukraine and Gaza. The 11-minute indie takes place in an alternate World War I, where a secret chess match is played across enemy lines with the assistance of a heroic carrier pigeon that delivers the chess moves over the battlefield. Pixar alum Dave Mullins wrote and directed the short, animated by Wētā FX Limited and executive produced by Sean Ono Lennon.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine coincided with Lennon wanting to make an animated project around his parents’ popular protest song “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).” So he approached a friend at Pixar, who recommended Mullins (“Lou”), who left Pixar on his 20th anniversary in 2021 and started ElectroLeague, a real-time animation company with co-founder Brad Booker (producer of “War Is Over”).

Andrew Garfield and Cynthia Erivo will lead Audible’s audio adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984.
The Amazing Spider-Man and Wicked stars will play Winston and Julia, respectively, alongside Fleabag’s Andrew Scott as O’Brien and Inception’s Tom Hardy as Big Brother. The audio adaptation will also feature an original score written by Muse front-man Matthew Bellamy and composer Ilan Eshkeri, which will be performed by a 60-piece orchestra at Abbey Road studio.
Destiny Ekaragha (The End of the F***ing World) directs the Audible Original adaptation, which is described as staying “faithful” to the original text, while drawing in more of Winston and Julia’s romantic relationship. The Orwell Estate has authorized and endorsed the adaptation.
The classic novel, published in 1949, is set in an imagined dystopian future in which Winston and his colleague, Julia, are dissatisfied with their totalitarian government and look to make a change. However,...

After the success of Ridley Scott’s Alien, the world saw a surge in sci-fi movies centered around blue-collar workers finding themselves up against terrifying creatures, usually in a dark, dank, remote setting. Some of these rip-offs were studio affairs, but a majority of them were made for the home video and late-night cable markets, where the cheap sets and shoddy effects weren’t such big deals. Who among us hasn’t enjoyed a low-budget monster flick that was clearly made for the price of a six-pack? 1989 brought us not one but three sci-fi movies that had at least partial inspiration from Alien and its sequel, Aliens. The latter film’s director, James Cameron, brought us his underwater epic The Abyss, which isn’t a horror film but certainly takes some cues from those earlier movies. Deepstar Six was Sean S. Cunningham’s attempt to bring the slasher movie underwater,...

With credit surely partly due to the “Timothée Chalamet effect,” menswear hit new levels of creativity and expressiveness this year. “There’s a sense of zero fucks given,” says stylist Michael Fisher (who last year made tailored skirts a red carpet staple on client Oscar Isaac).
The risk-taking and loosening up of silhouettes, say stylist duo Wayman + Micah comes down to the fact that “the men in Hollywood just want to have just as much fun with looks, not to mention the trends of androgyny and unisexual dressing in our culture having an influence on acceptability.”
Flaunting Sheer
Instead of an obvious no-shirt approach, many male stars embraced sultry layering by pairing suits and sweaters with sheer shirts.
“You’re still getting body but not overt body,” says stylist Fisher, whose client Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) wore a gossamer Ami Paris tank with cardigan in November.

With a love of cinema woven into its DNA, The Monster Squad helped indoctrinate ’80s kids to the classic monsters. The generation that grew up watching it on home video and HBO look back on the 1987 film with the same reverence director Fred Dekker had for the Universal monster movies, and now they’re passing it down in a similar fashion. There’s no better way to introduce the next generation than with the new 4K edition.
Conceived as “The Little Rascals meets the Universal Monsters,” the cleverly-plotted film clocks in at a tight 82 minutes. The punchy script by Dekker and Shane Black doesn’t have an ounce of fat on it, save for the casual homophobia, misogyny, and body shaming of the time. Drawing inspiration from Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, human characters offer well-placed levity and a bevy of memorable one-liners, but the monsters are played straight.

The end of the actors strike is particularly good news for the European Film Market (EFM), which expects a bonanza of new projects held up or postponed during the SAG-AFTRA walkout.
SAG-AFTRA members voted Tuesday to approve their new three-year contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, representing Hollywood’s major studios and streamers. The new deal, valued by the union at over $1 billion, will now take effect retroactive to June 9, and will extend to June 30, 2026.
EFM director Dennis Ruh said the Berlin market, which runs February 15 to 21, 2024, is poised to benefit as actors get back to work.
“This being the first market after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, we are receiving positive, promising feedback from sales agents and other market participants,” says Ruh. “They will bring projects to the EFM which were interrupted temporarily or even held back but are ready to resume or be...

Berlin’s European Film Market has unveiled a new finance forum in collaboration with conference producer Winston Baker and the inaugural edition of AfroBerlin, focusing on the African film industry, among its new initiatives in its forthcoming edition, which runs Feb. 15-21.
Winston Baker’s Entertainment Finance Forum Berlin, taking place Feb. 16, “will bring an international perspective on the state of the industry when it comes to financing and funding film production,” EFM director Dennis Ruh tells Variety.
Winston Baker already organizes the International Film Finance Forum in Cannes. “We are opening it up more for entertainment,” Ruh notes. The idea for the Berlin forum, which originated at the American Film Market, enriches the EFM’s program by showcasing existing opportunities, particularly when it comes to working with private equity internationally.

John Putch’s latest feel-good Christmas miracle film, A Biltmore Christmas, revolves around Lucy (Bethany Joy Lenz), a scriptwriter who lands the job of a lifetime and joins as a screenwriter for a major production company. Lucy’s first gig was to write the script for the remake of a highly successful classic called “His Merry Wife.” However, Lucy changed the ending, giving the story a modern touch. Lucy claimed that with her script, they could bring the film into the 21st century, something that the modern audience would relate to. The audience needed something modern and something real, claimed Lucy, but her boss, Michael Balaban (Tommy Cresswell), wasn’t too thrilled to see the changes.
Spoilers Ahead
How Did Lucy Travel Back In Time?
Lucy’s boss, Michael Balaban, didn’t share Lucy’s enthusiasm and told her to visit Biltmore Castle in person, the location where the original film was shot.

Actor Cailee Spaeny has confirmed that the events of Alien: Romulus will unfold between those of 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens.
When it was announced last year that Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez would be heading up a new movie in the Alien franchise, the line was that its story (co-written by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues) would be unconnected to the previous films.
That’s likely still true, but we now at least know when the plot of Alien: Romulus will take place – between the events of 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens. Rumours of this timeline placement have been floating around for a few months now, but actor Cailee Spaeny, who has a currently undisclosed role in Romulus, recently confirmed this to Variety's Michaela Zee.
“It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie,” Spaeny said. “They brought the same team from Aliens, the James Cameron film.

Holiday episodes are always a treat when watching sitcoms – it gives viewers the opportunity to see how their favorite characters handle the unique stressors of the season. New Girl didn’t quite have a Thanksgiving episode every year of its seven season run, but the five episodes that the show produced are truly some of the series’ best.
With moments like Schmidt’s (Max Greenfield) Bangsgiving, Jess (Zooey Deschanel) trying to “Parent Trap” her divorced parents, and the crew discovering a dead body, it’s hard to choose which episode tops the others, and yet that’s exactly what we’ve done. Here are all of the New Girl Thanksgiving episodes ranked.

This post contains spoilers for "Goosebumps" episodes 9 and 10.
Readers beware, you're in for a scare ... just kidding. It's an interview. But! It is related to the new Hulu and Disney+ adaptation of "Goosebumps," based on the beloved young-adult horror series of the same name from R.L. Stine. In just 10 episodes, the new "Goosebumps" series is a triumph of horror, comedy, and some well-placed nostalgia -- a series that speaks to both the generation that grew up begging parents to buy them the books from the Scholastic Book Fair and raced home to watch new episodes of the TV show after school (It's me. Hi!), as well as new viewers getting into the "Goosebumps" universe for the first time. When I reviewed the new show, I had only been given the first eight episodes, which felt like its own contained season. But with two more episodes unseen, it was a sign...

The monstrous Goosebumps handle has dripped and oozed its green-tinged ichor for the past three decades, seeping into the imaginations of the countless kids who dared traverse the pages of R.L. Stine’s paperback terrors. In time the words on the page leapt onto the screen and eventually into theaters, transforming playfully frightful prose into equally gleeful and similarly spooky visual splendor, solidifying the multi-generational Goosebumps legacy firmly in the gateway horror zeitgeist.
And now Goosebumps is back again. A departure from its anthology television roots and infused with more menace and horror than ever before, the series emerges ready to delight and terrify a new audience of adolescent thrill-seekers. Following a group of five teenagers as they navigate inherited trauma, haunted objects and one quite infamous ventriloquist dummy, this fresh iteration of R.L. Elton John treated the world to a bizarre rendition of The Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” This only happened because his writing partner watched one of The Beatles’ movies. John Lennon revealed what he thought about the cover.
Elton John did The Beatles’ ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ because of ‘Yellow Submarine’

Taupin discussed what happened when John played the song in concert. “It went down incredibly well, staggeringly well,” he said. Taupin also revealed that one of The Beatles helped John create the new version of the song. “John Lennon played on it and...

John Wick: Chapter 4 became the entry that solidified the franchise as a big moneymaker. And although the ending had left the future open for possible sequels, Keanu Reeves has not been secretive about how much harder it is to keep up with the action and begged for a definite ending for the character. However, despite several spin-offs being released, the studio now smells the money and wants to immediately develop a direct follow-up to Chapter 4 with Reeves in tow. People keep asking if he’s back, and he hasn’t really had an answer, but yeah, the studio is thinking he’s back.
ScreenRant has reported that Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Chair Joe Drake has stated at a recent earnings call, courtesy of ComicBook.com, that the studio is now including a Chapter 5 in the development of future franchise content. Drake has said, “On the Wick side we got multiple spin-offs and a Wick Five.

New York City? More like New York Chilly! Amirite?! The first trailer for the unfortunately titled "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" has arrived, and it's going to be a cool summer in the Big Apple, as a freezing paranormal threat suddenly invades the city.
Following the events of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," Callie Spengler (Carrie Coon) and her kids Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) have returned to New York after heading out to Summerville, Oklahoma to inherit a dusty old farm and a paranormal legacy that will turn them into rising Ghostbusters, alongside the return of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and the uncanny CGI double of Harold Ramis as the original Ghostbusters gang: Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, and the spirit of Egon Spengler, respectively.
This is a fantastic first tease for the "Ghostbusters" sequel, one that taps a bit more back into the humor of the original franchise,...
