- He is a professionally trained Ballroom dancer.

The casting director felt he was too old to play the part. However, after later watching a previous screen test Luke had shot for J.J. Abrams 2011 thriller, "Super 8", the casting director cast him in the role immediately.
- His favourite actors from Hollywood's Golden Age are Bette Davis and Kirk Douglas.
- Attended the same Sydney high school (Arthur Phillip High School) as iconic Australian actor Chips Rafferty, makeup artist and businessman Napoleon Perdis, Neighbours actress Kym Valentine and controversial Sydney mayor Salim Mehajer.
- On August 8th 2013 he suffered a stroke at his home in Sydney, but made a full recovery. He continues to work closely with and is an Ambassador and Advocate for the National Stroke Foundation of Australia.
- Owns the original on set working script from the last ever episode of The Golden Girls (season 7 episode 23 "One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest") personally hand signed by all four actresses - Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty. The script originally belonged to Ray Combs, American comedian and host of Family Feud, who did the audience warm-ups on the show.
- He is a huge fan of Elvis Presley.
- He was casted as G.B in the film "Circle Of Lies" two days before initial shooting was to start. Living in Hollywood at the time, and after being offered the role, Luke flew back to Sydney immediately and only had one day to prepare before shooting commenced. He learned all his lines on the 15 hour flight back to Australia.
- Studied Drama extension at Bradfield Senior College in Sydney and was taught by the same teacher who also coached Australian actress Rose Byrne. Byrne attended the college in the mid 90's.
