MJ Silva is primarily a theatre artist whose credits include a featured
role in the experimental folk opera, Contraption Spell (Jinx) at REDCAT
as well as the Montana and Florida incarnations of Rosanna Gamson/World
Wide's multimedia dance drama Tov. During the summer of 2010, MJ won
critical praise for his work in Overtone Industries' site-specific
avant-garde opera, Songs & Dances of Imaginary Lands. Prior to that, he
premiered Mother Of Mirrors, his solo performance piece about body
dysmorphia and ethnocentrism in the gay community, at the ensemble
theatre festival, Performance West. MJ has had the pleasure of
collaborating on, and originating roles in a number of theatrical
projects including a dance theatre piece called Houdini's Box (Rabbi
Weiss), a social justice play about the impact of AIDS in Mexico called
El Estudio del Maestro (Lalo), and a new musical co-written by Jacob's
Ladder author, Joel Yanofsky called Love U: The Grad School Musical
(Lance Beauregard). Other notable credits include Polaroid Stories [G
(zeus/hades)], Woyzeck (Drum Major), and background vocals for Barry
Manilow, Jon Secada, Jody Watley, and Peabo Bryson.
