All other Christmas movies waiting to be released in 2019 can go home now because Let It Snow is officially our new holiday obsession. Based on the 2008 novel of the same name by The Fault In Our Stars author John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle, Netflix's latest original movie tells the tale of three adorable and interconnecting love stories in the small town of Laurel, Illinois on Christmas Eve. It's like Love Actually except set in the sleepy Midwest, featuring a cast of some of young Hollywood hottest up-and-comers and a dash of Joan Cusack as a tin foil-covered tow truck driver. (Confused? Just watch the movie and bask in the absurdity of her character, helpfully named Tin Foil...

Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances by John Green, Lauren Myracle, and Maureen Johnson, is about to be adapted by Netflix into a romantic comedy featuring the likes of Isabella Merced, Kiernan Shipka, Jacob Batalon, Odeya Rush, and Joan Cusack. The book, originally published in 2008, features a collection of three distinct yet intertwined stories of teenagers as they weather a Christmas snow storm in Gracetown. Before you cozy up under a blanket with a piping hot mug of cocoa and your loved ones to indulge in some early holiday cinema fun (the movie drops on Nov. 8), let's review what happens in the book.
Will this Christmas Eve be a night of miracles or a night of disasters? A terrible snow storm, a stranded train, and Gracetown - a small town tucked away in the middle of nowhere that will almost make you miss the traditional sleep-inducing Christmas dinner. And yet,...

Netflix's new holiday rom-com Let It Snow looks like Love Actually, but for modern-day American teenagers. Unlike the 2003 holiday film, however, the new movie is based on a work of literature. Back in 2008, Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances was released as a Ya book, and that's what forms the inspiration for the upcoming Netflix movie.
Technically, Let It Snow is not a novel in the true sense of the word. It's actually a collection of three short stories, each with a different protagonist but one thing in common: they're all stranded in the small town of Gracetown when a massive snowstorm hits. The three stories are "The Jubilee Express" by Maureen Johnson, "A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle" by John Green, and "The Patron Saint of Pigs" by Lauren Myracle. The Netflix film weaves together these three narratives all at once, rather than separate as in their original stories,...

What do you get when you combine a snow day, a quaint small town, and young love? Netflix's upcoming holiday flick Let It Snow, the closest we'll probably ever get to Love Actually for teens.
An adaptation of the bestselling Ya book by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle, Let It Snow follows a group of high-school seniors at the mercy of their hormones and the weather when a snowstorm hits their small, Midwestern town on Christmas Eve. Rather than the mundane snow day one might expect, things take a turn for the extraordinary thanks to a stranded pop star and a rousing rager at the local Waffle Town, among other things.
Not only does the trailer promise to hit all the beloved staples of your favorite holiday films, but Let It Snow also boasts a young star-studded cast that includes Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's Kiernan Shipka,...

We’ve got a trailer for you to check out for an upcoming Netflix original holiday movie called Let it Snow. The movie is based on the book of the same name by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle. Green is the author of other great Ya novels that made it to film, like The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns.
The typical Christmas-themed movies out there that are made for TV and now streaming services tend to lean toward the cheesy and predictable. I think this movie looks well-written and refreshing.
The film is being directed by Luke Snellin and has a super talented cast that includes Isabela Moner (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men), Joan Cusack (School of Rock), Odeya Rush (Goosebumps), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: Far From Home), Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Mitchell Hope (Descendants), Miles Robbins (Halloween), Mason Gooding...

Once upon a time DC Comics were quite the innovators. Usually at the forefront of advances in the industry, be it the first limited series, prestige format comics, mature theme material, even web comics. They’ve usually dipped their toes in the pond before everyone else. In more recent years that all died away somewhat as the industry has become increasingly conservative, publishing only books that, to their mind, will sell to their primary audience. So, when DC announced it was attempting to again increase that audience by creating two new imprints, it felt like the old DC again. Everything needs new blood once in a while, or it will just wither away, and that’s why we have the two new DC imprints, DC Ink and DC Zoom.

Netflix is taking on close to 250,000 square feet of studio and office space in Toronto, as part of its agreement to invest in Canada’s entertainment industry.
The company announced pacts to lease two studio spaces in Toronto: with Cinespace Studios for around 164,000 square feet of space, including four sound stages, and with Pinewood Toronto Studios, also for four sound stages and adjacent office space comprising a total footprint of approximately 84,580 square feet. The new spaces add to Netflix’s existing physical production footprint in Canada, which includes a lease of British Columbia’s Martini Film Studios and production sites it sets up on a per-production basis.
The Canadian expansion comes after the streamer in 2017 committed to investing $500 million (Canadian) in content production in the country over a five-year period — a goal Netflix says it’s on track to exceed.
According to Netflix, the new Toronto facilities will provide up to 1,850 production jobs per year.

Another John Green film adaptation is on the way -- this one set to premiere on Netflix.
The streaming giant has acquired the global rights to Green’s Christmas rom-com Let It Snow, Deadline reports. Green, of course, is one half of YouTube’s beloved VlogBrothers channel, and the novelist behind The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns -- which were also turned into feature films.
Let It Snow, however, is a fix-up novel that Green wrote alongside Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. (A fix-up novel consists of individually composed works by different writers that are compiled together and edited in hindsight to create synergy). The book is about a once-in-a-century snowstorm that hits a small town on Chirstmas Eve, uncovering unexpected opportunities and complications for several high school seniors, testing their friendships, love lives, and future aspirations.

Wondering what you’ll watch when The Hunger Games franchise is over? We’ve got some ideas…
As well as sequels, remakes, and comic book adaptations, there’s one kind of movie you can feel fairly sure is going to keep popping up at a cinema near you: young adult adaptations. Stories about teenagers are still doing big business in the book trade, and thanks to Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Hunger Games, Hollywood is convinced of the genre’s appeal, too.
A couple of new franchises have already been kicked off – there’s still at least another Divergent sequel on the way, and another Maze Runner sequel – but what’s more interesting is the list of Ya novels that have been optioned and may soon be taking over the box office. Now, not all of the adaptations on this list will see the light of day,...

The John Green adaptation craze that began with last summer’s The Fault in Our Stars and continues next month with Paper Towns has been prolonged, now that Universal has set its take on his short story collection Let It Snow for December 9, 2016.
Green contributed a story to the three-story collection, which also included work by 13 Little Blue Envelopes author Maureen Johnson and ttyl writer Lauren Myracle. Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon is penning the script for the adaptation, which will weave together three unexpected romances that unfold on one Christmas Eve, Love Actually style.
Currently, Let It Snow has the December weekend to itself, but its legs at the box office may be threatened by Star Wars: Rogue One opening the next week. Of course, the holiday crowd coupled with Green’s ardent fanbase should ensure Let It Snow a pretty high opening.

Every year, the American Library Association releases a list of the most frequently "challenged" books -- books that conservative readers have requested to ban from libraries, schools, and curricula. This year, Suzanne Collins' dystopian novel "The Hunger Games" trilogy is ranked No. 3 on the list.
At No.1 is Lauren Myracle's "Im" series, "ttyl," "ttfn," and "l8r, g8r." The novels, written entirely in Im format, follow high school friends as they navigate boys, drugs, alcohol, parties, driving, and college prep. No. 2 on the list is "The Color of Earth," a series by Kim Dong Hwa, a graphic novel about a young girl coming of age alongside her single mother.
It's no surprise that "Hunger Games" is a controversial series -- though it contains hardly any sex, its basic premise of children slaughtering children for sport is shocking in itself. There's a certain irony to the fact that...

So, let me get this straight.
If the people administering an award are so incompetent that they can’t even manage to communicate effectively with each other, and mangle their own list of nominees, the only way to “preserve the integrity of the award and the judges’ work” is to ask the author you just screwed over to withdraw her book from contention?
First of all, it’s idiotic to “withdraw” a book once it’s already on the shortlist.
Second, withdrawing a book implies that something is wrong with the book — or that the author dislikes the award process for some reason — which is the opposite of the problem here.
Third — and, as a father, this is by far the most important lesson to me — if you make a mistake, you need to be the one to fix it. You don’t ask if the person you just injured...

It looks like I'm going to have to re-learn how to spell Milo Ventimiglia. No, he's not dating a teenager again, but he is developing a dark comedy about the drone pilots that "commute" to the war from Nevada. This is an idea I've wanted to see done for a while, because is it still war to these pilots, fighting it from 10,000 miles away? How do you take out an insurgent village and then pick up the kids from soccer practice?
I'll be honest, I'm not sure I quite get this piece on the sexualization of Kurt/Chris Colfer that Seth sent in. He's hot, women want to bone him. I want to bone Brad Pitt, but it's not going to happen.
There are all sorts of creepy cat stories today, like how they defy physics, which was done by creating virtual cats, proving my theory that SkyNet is a feline plot.
