The world's most badass 75-year-old man proved he's still got it when he helped subdue a shoplifting suspect at a Pennsylvania mall on Saturday. Charlie Burton was working as a vendor at the Washington Crown Center mall when he noticed a police officer struggling with the suspect, 29-year-old Jonathan Fekete Jr., the Associated Press reports. So, he did what any Good Samaritan would do: He ran over to help, grabbing Fekete's arms and pinning him down. "He started hollering his arm hurt, and I said, 'Quit struggling or I'll break the thing,' " Burton told the AP. Authorities said Fekete...

Carl Elias has always proven to be a most interesting person in fleeting doses, but this week he is in fact the Person of Interest, as the CBS drama uncorks its action-packed penultimate fall episode tonight at 10/9c.
Enrico Colantoni shared with TVLine his immense appreciation for the unique adversary, teased a shift in the Elias/Reese/Finch dynamic, chimed in on his TV doppelgänger and enthused about Veronica Mars‘ recent Dick moves.
Tvline | How did this week’s Person of Interest stand apart for you, out of the 16 or so that you’ve been in?

One of my favorite episodes of the first season of Person of Interest was Episode 7, “Witness.”
First, because I’m a Veronica Mars fan so when I saw Enrico Colantoni as Charlie Burton I was immediately excited. Colantoni played Veronica’s ultra nice dad who always looked out for her even when she was unsure if he was her real father.
As Burton he looked out for the kids as well. Then, we learned the truth. He was really Elias, an up and coming mafia kingpin who was only posing as a teacher to learn the secrets of a rival criminal organization.
Elias instantly made his mark as one of the best villains on the series. For me, this was the moment when Person of Interest became “must see TV.” I couldn’t stop watching.
Then, in “Firewall,” the secret identity of “Root” was revealed. It was another great moment and an unexpected curve ball.

Unlike so many beginnings, this case starts out with a death. And while we might believe that Finch's (Michael Emerson) Orwellian nightmare of a Machine is infallible, we discover by the end that literally anyone and anything can be wrong. A man is shot in a bodega and there is a witness. Carter (Taraji Henson) and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) are called in and want the video surveillance of the witness. Problem is, they don't know who the guy is. The dead guy was a mob lieutenant D'Agostino and they figure this is a hit going down between the Italian Mob and the Russian Mob headed up by Ivan Yogorov (Olek Krupa). Fusco figures that if he can be pumped for information by our heroes, they can return the favor. As luck would have it, the Machine has already kicked out a name to go with the witness: Charlie Burton (Enrico Colantoni...

The NYPD’s investigation into a gang shooting sheds some light on the mysterious and illusive Elias, while Reese and Finch try to protect the crimes only witness. Person of Interest is back to it’s best after last weeks minor slump. The episode opens with Carter (Taraji P. Henson) and Fusco (Kevin Chapman) at the investigation of the late night grocery store shooting. The Organised Crime unit is also there because the victim was a la Cosa Nostra lieutenant, executed as part of an escalating gang war with the Russians over the territory of Brighton Beach. It is also revealed that the lieutenant’s boss is none other than Elias, the faceless threat behind several crimes so far.
Reese and Finch enter the fray after the machine delivers them the number of high school history teacher Charlie Burton (Enrico Colantoni), the only witness to the gang shooting.

Hello, grander season-long mythology. Excited to meet you.
I have to admit, the start of Person of Interest this week didn't feel too promising. My eyes started to roll as soon as Fusco called Reese about looking into a "Witness" and Reese was already watching him. How convenient. I know the police cases and Reese and Finch number cases are bound to intersect, but when it lines up so easily it can feel a bit contrived. I don't want things to be too obvious. In the long run, though, none of it really turned out to be.
Additionally, a majority of the time was spent discussing different crime syndicates and their enemies. It was a bit confusing trying to keep up with who was fighting whom and which turf belonged to which group. Bulgarians, Russians, La Cosa Nostra? Frankly, I just wanted to know why it even mattered.
And then Elias popped up again.
