The Economist Group has poached a top executive in charge of the Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer streaming initiatives in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea).
Luke Bradley-Jones has been named President and Managing Director of The Economist, a role that he will take on this summer. Bradley-Jones will be based in London, the Economist Group said in a statement, though he will have a “significant presence” in the news outlet’s New York office as well.
In a statement, the Economist Group CEO Lara Boro called Bradley-Jones “an Economist aficionado and subscriber for 30 years, [who] has the track record, vision and leadership ability to further the Economist‘s audience growth and digital innovation.”
“He knows how to create just the right products to reach global audiences on a wide variety of platforms,” Boro said. “I couldn’t be happier to have him helm our core Economist business.

In this earnest documentary, director Chloé Aïcha Boro returns to her home country of Burkina Faso to face the significant ramifications of her uncle dying. Static shots of her community reveal the growing rift between family members arguing about the deceased patriarch's property and ultimate legacy. This personal exploration of identity touches on the deep-rooted value of inheritance and shines a light on a culture torn in navigating the dynamics of tradition and modernity.
After her uncle Ousmane dies on a pilgrimage to Mecca, the filmmaker's family gather to discuss the future of his estate. Far from being just a housing complex, this large residence is a local place of worship. Once the all-male council assembles, the decision over the sharing of the inheritance becomes a mountain to climb. Boro lovingly uses the word tribe to describe the size of her extended family, signalling the importance and difficulty of splitting the.

In the season finale of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Fubar," it's unclear if it's the CIA mission gone wrong or the Brenner family's personal lives that wind up totally F.U.B.A.R. by the end of the episode. In episode 8, "That's It and That's All," Luke (Schwarzenegger) and his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) are forced to reveal that they are secretly CIA operatives when the main villain, Boro (Gabriel Luna), gives new meaning to the term wedding crasher. Luke certainly doesn't want to see his ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio) get married to another man, but shooting up the entire ceremony isn't exactly the best way to raise an objection.
For a spy thriller starring one of our most recognized action icons, "Fubar" is actually not as bloody as you might expect. After taking out the entire L.A.P.D. police station in "The Terminator," blowing up an army base in "Commando,...

Plot: A CIA Operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret. Forced to go back into the field for one last job, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humor.
Review: Over the six decades of his acting career, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been in comedies, dramas, action movies, and horror flicks, but until now, he has not starred in a television series. With streaming services now as robust as any movie studio, the biggest names in Hollywood have headlined their own small-screen shows. Schwarzenegger’s Netflix series Fubar tries to replicate the best elements of the iconic actor’s filmography by blending action and humor with some new blood in the form of Top Gun: Maverick star Monica Barbaro. Fubar aims high but feels barely more than a network television spy series that could have been so much better considering the talent involved.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has done it again. Playing to his strengths, he is both a badass spy and a doting, overprotective dad in Netflix's action-comedy "Fubar," where the most high-stakes missions play out against the backdrop of situational comedy. While this combination might tend to be obnoxious when a healthy balance is not struck, "Fubar" manages to stay afloat thanks to Schwarzenegger's perennial onscreen charm and natural comedic chops.
The core conflict in "Fubar" is familial in nature: Schwarzenegger's Luke Brunner, a CIA operative on the verge of retirement, finds out that his daughter, Emma (Monica Barbaro), is an agent too, while also revealing his true profession to her, leaving her shocked to the core. This truth is revealed while they're both working undercover on a case to apprehend arms dealer Boro (Gabriel Luna), who soon discovers their true actions, thus blowing their cover.

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Netflix spy comedy “Fubar” starts out so unfettered by reality that it holds real promise.
Luke Brunner, the CIA operative played by Schwarzenegger, who is 75, is described as being 65. He is on the eve of retirement when they pull him back in to infiltrate the Guyana compound of arms dealer Boro (Gabriel Luna), a guy so brutal that he kills an associate on stage at an outdoor party and orders the blood-splattered band to keep playing.
Also in Guyana is Luke’s do-gooder daughter, Emma. Unbeknownst to her father, she is also a CIA operative and so deeply embedded in Boro’s world that she has become his favorite fight-club competitor.

When Arnold Schwarzenegger first announced his new TV series Fubar, he sold it as “another big action-comedy like True Lies.” There’s just one problem with that statement: True Lies was actually good. Fubar (now streaming on Netflix) tries to recapture Arnie’s glory days as an action movie hero with a big-budget, explosion-filled tale of international espionage. But based on the first three episodes, Fubar is unfortunately just a very pale True Lies imitation: a parade of meaningless violence and flaccid one-liners that pairs ludicrous action scenes with hacky comedy. It’s a mess — and not even an entertaining one,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in Fubar, a new Netflix series created by Nick Santora.
As the song says, time goes by. It’s inevitable and remembering past moments with James Cameron isn’t bad at all. On that occasion, it was with the great Jamie Lee Curtis, and now it is with the also great Monica Barbaro.
That movie, True Lies, was highly entertaining and spectacular. Fubar is not as entertaining, it has a different format, Mr. Pumpkin is a bit older, and times have changed, as the series insists on reminding us, in an amusing, if not brilliant, generational renewal.
But we like this gentleman and the series is, at least, enjoyable within its pretensions.

It's easy to love Arnold Schwarzenegger. While no one would claim the Austrian Oak was an acting great with the range to slip in and out of any character, there's always been a distinct, lovable charm to Arnold. Despite his hulking, muscular frame, there's something downright cuddly about the body builder-turned-actor. We want to give him a hug, even when he's firing huge weapons at nameless bad guys.
While he occasionally plays cruel killers — see the first "Terminator" — he thrives in roles that let him have fun — see the second "Terminator." We can't help but love the guy, with his huge biceps, his thick accent, and the mischievous little twinkle he always has in his eye. When he utters the phrase "Trust me" with a sly little smile in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," we do trust him. How can we not? He's Arnold!
All of this is to say that...
