Mark Whitaker’s Cosby is about to become a collector’s item. Simon & Schuster vice president and executive director of publicity Cary Goldstein told the Associated Press that it would not publish a paperback edition of the controversial biography of the comedian. He added that the hardcover and ebook would not be updated to include information about the dozens of sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby that have become public in the last year. Whitaker, a former Newsweek editor and open Cosby fan, wrote the generally positive biography of the famed comedian without exploring the already-percolating allegations that Cosby had

A new attorney for Bill Cosby vigorously defended the entertainer in an exclusive interview on Good Morning America Wednesday, chastising the media for "misrepresenting" what he said in a deposition for a lawsuit he settled in 2006.
"There are a thousand-plus pages that are available of Mr. Cosby in his own words, and what we're seeing so far are headlines that are grabbing one excerpt or two and misinterpreting them," Monique Pressley told the morning show.
"The deposition said that there was use of Quaaludes, which was done often in the '70s," she said.

Thirty years ago this fall, The Cosby Show debuted on NBC, and its star was catapulted into the comedic stratosphere. The timing is prime, then, for the release of a sprawling biography. Written by former Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker, Cosby: His Life and Times documents the man’s rise from the Philadelphia projects, while also detailing the creation of his family sitcom and the murder of his son Ennis in 1997. The book is notable, however, for its complete avoidance of sexual abuse allegations that have dogged Cosby for more than a decade. In a statement to Buzzfeed's Kate Aurthur, Whitaker says, "I didn’t want to print allegations that I couldn’t confirm independently." Regardless, their absence is glaring. Consider the following timeline an appendix to the book.November 2002 Andrea Constand, director of operations for Temple University’s women’s basketball team, allegedly met with Bill Cosby. Constand claims that Cosby,...

The various allegations of sexual abuse currently being leveled against Bill Cosby made Sunday's premiere of Celebrity Apprentice a little awkward, to say the least.

Cosby: His Life and Times, Mark Whitaker's comprehensive biography of Bill Cosby, hits stores Tuesday. The absorbing read chronicles the comedian's rise from the Philadelphia projects to stand-up king, his groundbreaking role on I Spy — as TV's first black leading man — and TV's most beloved dad on The Cosby Show. But for every high, there were plenty of lows: his near-bankruptcy, his scandalous affairs that resulted in an extortion trial, his estrangement from a daughter and the bizarre murder of his only son.

Well, it's pretty clear that Jeff Zucker, the man hired to make CNN something that it currently isn't, has finished his building tour, found the cafeteria, met the secretaries, seen all of the secret Ted Turner files, memorized a bunch of names and finished reading his employee handbook. Now it's boot-to-ass time -- or, if your sensibilities are too delicate for that housecleaning metaphor, maybe Zucker has stolen the punchline from comic Michael Meehan and simply started telling people, "Don't use that door; that's for employees only." The changes keep rolling in at Jeff Zucker's CNN and the latest shakeup is the exit of longtime contributors James Carville and Mary Matalin.
The married political experts are famous for their differing views -- he's a proud liberal, she's a staunch conservative -- and both used to have roles in CNN's one-time signature debate series "Crossfire."
Politico reported the news, confirmed by Carville who explained the decision was CNN's. "I was told that they wanted the contributors to be more available -- essentially, closer to Washington. I'm not always available, I don't live there," Carville, who lives in New Orleans with Matalin, told Politico.

Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock — the star of the documentary "Super Size Me" — is joining CNN, the network announced Thursday.
Spurlock will host and produce "Inside Man," the network's second unscripted series. It will debut in April 2013, around the same time as Anthony Bourdain's new travel show.
The network described in a statement, "Each week Spurlock will provide an insider’s view into rarely-seen sectors of American life that include gun lovers, marijuana growers, migrant farm workers, and end-of-life caregivers."
The announcement of Spurlock's show is the latest indication that CNN is looking to chart a different path as a way out of its ratings slump.
