Michael Sheen is back as angel/rare-book dealer Aziraphale and David Tennant returns as the demon Crowley for a third – and final – season of Prime Video’s incredibly engaging series Good Omens. Filming is expected to get underway soon in Scotland, with author Neil Gaiman back as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006,” said Gaiman. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now in Season Three,...

Amazon has renewed the popular fantasy comedy series Good Omens for a third and final season.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant star in the adaptation of the best-selling novel Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Sheen plays Aziraphale, a fussy angel. Tennant is Crowley a fast-living demon. After millennia of working on opposite sides in the war between good and evil, the pair become close friends and allies.
Gaiman said the final season will “finish the story” he and the late Pratchett first plotted out back in 1989 and 2006. “Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end,” says Gaiman. “Season one was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. The end of the world is really coming this time: “Good Omens” has been renewed for a third and final season at Amazon.
Created by Neil Gaiman and based on the novel co-written by Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, “Good Omens” follows the friendship between the fussy angel and rare-book dealer Aziraphale and fast-living demon Crowley, a pair of apocalypse-fighting, millennia-long best friends played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively.
The first season of the series debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video in 2019. At the time, it was intended as a limited series. But the show was renewed for a second season in 2021, which is when Gaiman revealed he had hatched the idea for a sequel with Pratchett before his death in 2015.
The second season debuted in July — amid the now-ended writers and actors strikes — and ended on a massive cliffhanger that suggested Gaiman had more planned before this heavenly tale was done.

When the late author Terry Pratchett, and Rob Wilkins – then his personal assistant, now head of Pratchett’s literary estate – visited a Somerset school to see a production based on one of Pratchett’s novels, they were met with a surprise.
“There’s a school in Bruton, just north of where we live and we were invited along for a school play” remembers Wilkins, speaking to Den of Geek on the set of the Good Omens TV series on which he serves as Executive Producer. “We were sitting in the Headmaster’s office. The Head of Drama came to see us and was going to take me and Terry along to go into the school hall where everyone was present, ready to put on a performance of Johnny and the Dead.

“If you’re going to burn it down, you should have told us!” laughs Good Omens set decorator Bronwyn Franklin, explaining why the set for Aziraphale’s bookshop is, by her estimation, “five to 10 per cent” different this time around.
“We never realised it’d be a second series, because it was one book, one Good Omens series. And then everyone loved it so much that Amazon said we really want another.” The surprise series renewal meant redressing the bookshop set from scratch, after it was burned down by an errant candle at the end of season one, episode four. (Hence Aziraphale’s preference for electric candles in the second run.)
Is that particular set still standing by the end of season two? “It’s all still here,” confirms Franklin. “It doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll ever make anything again,” she says as a caveat, but this time around at least,...

It’s been four years since the first season of Good Omens premiered on Prime Video, and now, to celebrate the arrival of Good Omens Season 2, Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) and David Tennant (Crowley) say a third chapter of the fantasy epic could happen. Gaiman has been on the ground floor of the new season. He’s also said the latest episodes act like a bridge between the first book and an idea for an original sequel. This tidbit implies we could get Good Omens Season 3 if all goes well.
Speaking with Comicbook.com about the possibility of a third season, Sheen and Tennant hinted at the door being wide open for the story to continue.
“Well, it’s not in our gift,” Tennant said when asked if fans will encounter the forces of good and evil alongside Crowley and Aziraphale again. “Yeah. If it was up to us, that would be one thing,...

Good Omens season two is a story of friendship and love and, to quote Terry Pratchett’s Moving Pictures, “Passione in a Worlde Gone Madde!” Gorgeous-looking, perfectly cast, and full of joy, it’s like a warm hug and a mug of hot chocolate… with a little macabre horror and sketch show comedy bobbing beneath the surface.
Good Omens season one was based on a standalone novel written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, which meant that it was a complete story. That’s why most of its characters and plotlines – Adam and pals, Agnes Nutter, Anathema and the Four Motorcycle Riders of the Apocalypse – don’t appear in season two.
But more than any of those, Good Omens season one was the story of the friendship between the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale. They’re the true protagonists of the book, and indisputably the stars of the TV show,...

In 2019, "Good Omens" proved to us that there's such a thing as an angel and demon pair made in heaven as long -- as they're played by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, respectively. The Prime Video/BBC TV show was written as a limited series since the 1990 source material, written by producer and showrunner Neil Gaiman ("The Sandman") and the late Terry Pratchett, was a stand-alone book.

Gaiman said Season 2 is based on his and Pratchett’s shared idea for a sequel to the original novel.

There’s a moment in episode three of The Watch, BBC America’s don’t-call-it-an-adaption of Terry Pratchett’s hugely popular ‘City Watch’ novels – the police-procedural strand within his comic fantasy Discworld series – where principle villain Carcer Dun (Samuel Adewunmi), quietly deploys probably the most important line of dialogue in the whole show: “The history of this world has already been written” he says bitterly to Wonse, his accomplice (Bianca Simone Mannie), “there’s no place for us here“. It’s a moment of meta-awareness in which our antagonist shows he understands the narrative conventions he is operating within and refuses to be confined by them; a theme absolutely typical of Pratchett’s books, and that runs through the show like a glass of milk runs through a sick old lady.
It’s also literally true. The history of this world has been written – Pratchett wrote it across 42 novels between...

Endeavor and Motive Pictures will have an “exclusive” relationship going forward to create “truly authentic and absolutely faithful” Discworld screen adaptations. Pratchett’s Discworld books have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. Discworld is a flat planet balanced on the back of four elephants, which are themselves atop a giant turtle. Terry Pratchett’s “The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents” is set to become the first of the much-loved author’s books to be adapted as an animated movie. The Discworld novel, the 28th in the series and the first for children, has been optioned by Germany-based Ulysses Filmproduktion, which will make the film alongside Ireland’s Cantilever Media. U.S. writer Terry Rossio, whose extensive credits include “Shrek,” “Aladdin,” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” has written the screenplay.

Good Omens has been a smash success for Amazon Prime – and the BBC, who co-produced – with the apocalyptic comedy-drama seeing a lot of attention and critical praise since its release on the streaming service last Friday. Naturally, fans are already calling for a second season.
However, showrunner Neil Gaiman has been adamant that he has no plans for a follow-up run at this time. After all, it is a close adaptation – though with a few key additions – of the single novel he co-wrote with the late Sir Terry Pratchett. But what about the chances of a spinoff instead?
Good Omens is blessed with a cast full of A-listers playing a range of hilarious, scene-stealing characters. So, what about a solo show for, say, Jon Hamm’s Gabriel and the other archangels? Or the adventures of Adam the Antichrist? Does Gaiman have any ideas like this up his sleeve?

Like Starz’s “American Gods” before it, Amazon’s newest limited series attempts to adapt the philosophically lofty, theologically-infused work of British novelist Neil Gaiman. In his 1990 novel “Good Omens” (co-written with Terry Pratchett), an odd-couple angel and demon attempt to avert the apocalypse in order to continue enjoying their unusual partnership. Onscreen, this pairing — between a saintly being played by Michael Sheen and a fallen angel played by David Tennant, both seeking to save the world for their own reasons — is the best part of the new “Good Omens” limited series. But it’s not enough: This six-hour journey towards the end of time comes to feel grindingly slow by the end, more anticlimax than fight for Earth’s future.
