Not many gay rom-coms start with a diplomatic incident, but Red, White & Royal Blue certainly does. The Prime Video movie (now streaming) — based on the bestselling book by Casey McQuiston — stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as American first son Alex Claremont-Diaz and Nicholas Galitzine as U.K. royal Prince Henry, two men whose long-running feud boils over in spectacular fashion at a royal event. “Going into damage control mode, their powerful families and respective handlers force the two rivals into a staged ‘truce,’” Prime Video teases. “But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected.” And once you’re done swooning over that transatlantic tale, check out the LGBTQ+ rom-coms below, all of which are currently streaming. "Rejection is just a part of life. It's okay." Levelfilm in Canada has debuted an official trailer for an indie coming-of-age comedy titled Drinkwater, which premiered at a few Canadian festivals last year. It won the 2021 Telus Audience Choice Award for Canadian Narrative at the Calgary Film Festival. Drinkwater is described as a coming-of-age story in the John Hughes tradition. Mike Drinkwater is lost. His father, Hank, is hardly the role model Mike deserves. A young woman moves to town, and their friendship gives them the courage to overcome their challenges. Director Stephen S. Campanelli has made a "fun, quirky, small-town coming-of-age story. Set in 2020, the film still captures the nostalgia of the ’80s, filled with a great cast and Canadiana written all over it." Starring Daniel Doheny and Eric McCormack as the two Drinkwaters, with Louriza Tronco, Alex Zahara, Jordan Burtchett, and Naika Toussaint. This looks way better than it sounds!

In accordance with its namesake, the new Syfy series“Day of the Dead” is jam-packed with the undead. Meet their maker: Emmy-award winning makeup effects artist Todd Masters.

This ode to George A. Romero’s famous flesh-eaters reminds its audience that sometimes all it takes to bring people together is a horde of zombies trying to rip them apart. With help from a (witch?)crafty Catherine Keener, a young female director campaigns to “curse” out a shady producer in the full trailer for Netflix‘s Brand New Cherry Flavor.
Premiering — a bit fittingly — on Friday the 13th (of August), the horror thriller stars Rosa Salazar (Undone, Parenthood) as Lisa Nova, a filmmaker who heads to Hollywood in the early ‘90s to make a movie, only to clearly be let down by her producer (played by Perry Mason‘s Eric Lange). After that, Lisa “tumbles down a hallucinatory rabbit hole of sex, magic, revenge — and kittens,” the official synopsis reads.

"Boys - let's move!" Syfy has unveiled the first official trailer for a new zombie horror series called Day of the Dead, a remake / update of the classic George A. Romero zombie movie of the same name from 1985. Which is exactly why we're featuring this first look to watch - always respect Romero. The trailer dropped during the San Diego Comic-Con@Home event, introducing the new series / Romero tribute, which will be launching in October. The original film is about a group of scientists and military personnel dwelling in an underground bunker in Florida, but this new series is a bit different - following six strangers out trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion. Not down in any bunkers yet. Starring Keenan Tracey, Natalie Malaika, Daniel Doheny, Lauren Howell, Morgan Holmstrom, Kristy Dawn Dinsmore, and Miranda Frigon. "Oh no... I think I cut myself!" Netflix has released another official trailer for their comedy The Package, which is now available, the latest film from Funny or Die filmmaker Jake Szymanski (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates). The wacky, stupid comedy is about a group of teenage friends who go on a spring break camping trip, but an accident causes them to change their plans in hopes of saving their friend. Yeah, it's dumb and made for teenagers to get drunk and laugh at. The full cast for this includes Daniel Doheny, Geraldine Viswanathan, Sadie Calvano, Luke Spencer Roberts, Eduardo Franco, Michael Eklund, Gary Jones, Alexander Calvert, Sugar Lyn Beard, and Blake Anderson. The romantic comedy is back, or at least in the very early throes of coming back, thanks to films like “Book Club,” the upcoming Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder reunion “Destination Wedding,” and a slew of Netflix originals churning out at a rapid pace. In fact, it may be that Netflix is the one saving the genre, or at least reminding viewers just how much fun it can be to watch two nice people fall in love against a backdrop of misadventures and high jinks. This week sees the release of the streamer’s latest original, “Set It Up,” which joins a healthy selection of rom-coms currently available for instant streaming.
From classics like “The African Queen” to festival breakouts like “The Incredible Jessica James” and unexpected gems like “I Give It a Year,” Netflix is filled with prime examples of all the loving, funny offerings the genre still has to offer.

Hitting Netflix on June 8, 2018 is an edgy comedy called Alex Strangelove. The film was written and directed by Craig Johnson (The Skelton Twins), and produced by Ben Stiller (Zoolander), Nicky Weinstock, and Jared Ian Goldman (Ingrid Goes West). The film will star Daniel Doheny (Adventures in Public School), William Ragsdale (Fright Night), Joanna Adler (American Crime Story), and Isabella Amara (Spider-Man: Homecoming).
Alex Strangelove tells the story of Alex Truelove (Daniel Doheny), a well-rounded high school senior with a wonderful girlfriend Claire (Madeline Weinstein) and a bright future ahead of him – and with plans to achieve his last teenage milestone by losing his virginity. But things get complicated when he meets Elliot (Antonio Marziale), a handsome and charming gay kid from the other side of town, who unwittingly sends Alex on a rollercoaster journey of sexual exploration, kicking off a hilarious and moving adventure of love, sex and friendship in...

"I'm over it Dell, this whole thing - sex, love - I'm out." Netflix has debuted a trailer for a teen comedy titled Alex Strangelove, the latest feature from director Craig Johnson (of The Skeleton Twins and Wilson previously). This quirky sexual awakening story is about a high school senior named Alex Truelove, played by newcomer Daniel Doheny (from Adventures in Public School), who has a "wonderful girlfriend" named Claire. Things get complicated when he meets Elliot, a "handsome and charming gay kid from the other side of town", and this "unwittingly sends Alex on a roller-coaster journey of sexual exploration, kicking off a hilarious and moving adventure of love, sex and friendship in our liberated and confusing modern times." The full cast includes Antonio Marziale, William Ragsdale, Joanna Adler, Isabella Amara, Ayden Mayeri, and Madeline Weinstein. This looks fresh and fun, all about the challenges of modern sexuality. If you found yourself wishing “Love, Simon” had a little less love and a lot more sex, “Alex, Strangelove” might be more up your alley. The latest from Craig Johnson, the writer/director of “The Skeleton Twins” and “Wilson,” “Alex Strangelove” is a raunchy teen comedy in the vein of “Superbad,” with a coming-of-age story as sweet as the one in “Love, Simon.” Although the first trailer only teases a fraction of the gross-out humor and sex talk in the actual movie, it should be spicy enough to whet your appetite.
Starring a peppy cast of relative unknowns, the story follows high-schooler Alex (Daniel Doheny) on a classic teen comedy quest: How to lose his virginity. The problem is Alex seems totally uninterested in having sex with his girlfriend, Claire (Madeline Weinstein). When he meets curly-haired Elliott (Antonio Marziale) at a party, he thinks he might be bisexual. But his...

Funny, cute and good-natured, but also trying a bit too hard to achieve those qualities, “Alex Strangelove” is equal parts homage to the teen comedy genre and an earnestly seriocomic coming-out story. Writer-director Craig Johnson’s fourth feature is probably his best to date, hitting the target more consistently than “The Skeleton Twins” or “Wilson.” Still, his best is surely yet to come, on the day he finally relaxes a bit and prizes emotional truth over antic comedy. Nevertheless, “Strangelove” should please a fair number of viewers when it launches day and date June 8 on Netflix and in limited theatrical release.
Amiable beanpole Alex Truelove is a straight-a suburban high-school senior. He’s also a confessed nerd — though hardly scorned as such, since he’s been elected class president.

When “Love, Simon” hit theaters earlier this year, it was celebrated as a moving but flawed studio movie about a gay teenager. For the first time ever, Lgbtq teens across the country could go to a movie theater, stuff popcorn in their faces, and witness a version of their lives on screen. Of course, we all know that teenagers are more likely to use Netflix than buy a movie ticket these days. That’s why “Alex Strangelove,” a delightfully strange little film about a teenage boy figuring out he’s gay, is so darn refreshing.
As the debate about whether Netflix is ruining movies lingers on, “Alex Strangelove” provides a pleasant reminder of the streaming behemoth’s powers for good. "Forget about school, it's time to party." An official trailer has debuted online for an Canadian indie comedy film titled Adventures in Public School, formerly known as Public Schooled when it premiered at last year's Toronto Film Festival. The film is about a socially awkward home-schooled kid named Liam who forces his way into attending public school against his "suffocating but loving" mother's wishes. The talented Judy Greer stars as the mother, and the kid is played by Daniel Doheny. The cast also includes Siobhan Williams, Russell Peters, Grace Park, Andrew McNee, Alex Barima, Andrew Herr, and Eva Day. I don't recall hearing much about this from Tiff last year, but it seems like it might be a fun coming-of-age comedy about parenting and school life. I like that Greer seems to be having as much crazy fun as her son is. Here's the first official trailer for Kyle Rideout's Adventures in Public School,...

The second feature from Eadweard helmer Kyle Rideout, Public Schooled has nothing in common with that film. “The first film that I did was an epic period film in the 1880s, so there's definitely not much of a through line to Public Schooled,” the director joked, sitting down with his Public Schooled stars—including Judy Greer, Russell Peters, and Tiff Rising Star Daniel Doheny—at Deadline’s Toronto Studio. “With this one, I was really wanting to do something that was a…...

Judy Geer is a treasure, whether she's lighting up a comedy or strengthening a drama, so whenever she appears in a film, it means that attention must be paid. In a fresh clip from Public Schooled, her sad, soulful side is showcased, as she says goodbye to her teenage son ... forever! Or, at least until the end of the school day. The film revolves around the young man in the clip: "Socially awkward, Liam has been homeschooled his entire life. When he falls in love with a popular one-legged girl, he abandons his mother's suffocating love and enrolls in public school, getting a crash course in sex, drugs and social mayhem." Judy Greer, Daniel Doheny, Siobhan Williams, Russell Peters and Grace Park lead the...
