The X Factor has been thrown into further chaos after tonight's show was delayed by technical difficulties. Viewers were kept waiting for 15 minutes as they tuned in to see the final six perform a 'Lady GaGa vs Queen' tribute and discover who out of Amelia Lily, James Michael, Jonjo Kerr and 2 Shoes would be returning. Instead, ITV screened a montage of some of the series's more notable auditions, including the debut performances of finalists Janet Devlin, Sami Brookes and Johnny Robinson, controversially-axed contestant Jade Richards and Goldie Cheung, who quit after being granted a spot in the final 16 by Louis Walsh. X Factor eliminee Sami Brookes has blamed her song choice for her exit. Brookes, who was sent home by the judges in tonight's show, performed Cher's 'If I Could Turn Back Time' on last night's programme despite admitting that she was uncomfortable with the track. Sami Brookes has become the sixth act to leave this year's series of The X Factor. The 31-year-old was eliminated from the competition after viewers voted her into the bottom two along with Kitty Brucknell. Both acts are mentored by veteran judge Louis Walsh. In the sing-off, Brookes performed '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' by Aretha Franklin, as Brucknell reprised her original audition song, Lady GaGa's 'The Edge Of Glory'. Host Dermot O'Leary then threw voting over to the panel, asking Gary Barlow to make the first decision. "This is tough," he declared. "Sami, that voice is undeniable, but I've always found you a little bit dated. Kitty, I'm a fan of yours. I'm excited by you." The producers of Strictly Come Dancing might have ensured that there was no ratings battle with The X Factor this year, but last night's viewing figures suggest that going toe-to-toe with the Cowell behemoth wouldn't have been the disaster many had predicted. Improving on last week's ratings by around 300k, Strictly scored 9.05m (39.2%). Meanwhile, on an evening which saw Louis Walsh describe Frankie Cocozza as having lost his 'swagger' and Gary Barlow compare Sami Brookes to a cruise ship singer, The X Factor dipped by over 600k to 9.8m (39.1%). A strong showing on timeshift (454k, 2%), however, means that in overall viewers the ITV production still has plenty of breathing space. ITV2's The Xtra Factor followed the main show with 605k (3.1%), beaten in the multichannel ratings by ITV3's Foyle's (more)...
