The current second season of Fox’s Bless the Harts will be its last.
Fox has confirmed that the comedy will finish out its current season in May and will not return to the schedule.
Bless the Harts was the first of the new wave of animated series on Fox as the network, fresh from its break from Disney, doubled down on the genre. It also marks the first of this new crop of show, which also includes The Great North and Duncanville, as well as upcoming series Housebroken, to come to an end.
While the network was happy with the show creatively, it never gained traction in the ratings, which averaged at a 0.5 live-plus-seven in adults 18-49 with 1.4M total viewers and 2M multi-platform viewers.
It will be replaced like-for-like with another animated series in Fox’s Animation Domination Sunday night block next season. Fox has Housebroken, featuring the voices of Lisa Kudrow,...

The Simpsons, the Belchers and the Griffins collectively welcomed a new animated family to Fox on Sunday via Bless the Harts.
Sunday’s premiere introduced us to single-mom Jenny Hart (voiced by Kristen Wiig), whose concerns over the household’s outstanding water bills were temporarily eased by a get-rich-quick scheme, courtesy of family matriarch Betty Hart (Maya Rudolph). Unbeknownst to Jenny, her mother had been stockpiling Hug N Bugs — “the cuddliest combination of current events and pop culture you’ll ever hug,” from the Sir Mix-a-Lot Hubble Telescope Hug N Bug to the Bagel Bites Clinton Impeachment Hug N Bug — in a secret storage unit.

Kumail, take the wheel? On Fox’s “Bless the Harts,” one of the funniest gags is that Jesus Christ is a character, and the show has recruited a major comedy star to voice him — “The Big Sick” and “Stuber” star Kumail Nanjiani.
The casting was revealed — earlier than Fox wanted — during the show’s Comic-Con 2019 panel on Friday that featured series creator Emily Spivey, executive producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, plus voice cast members Jillian Bell and Ike Barinholtz.
The panel showed a short unfinished clip from the “Bless the Harts” pilot, in which the Jesus character appears prominently. When it ended, Miller let the cat out of the bag, confirming that it was Nanjiani — prompting some performative nervousness from the other panelists. At which point Barinholtz hastily joked that he couldn’t quite place the voice actor who had “a sort of half-Chicago, half-Pakistani accent,” but that he...
