- Following nearly seven years in custody as the longest serving whistle-blower in U.S. history, Chelsea Manning was released from the United States Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas early in the morning on 17 May 2017 after President Obama commuted her 35 year sentence.
