Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers about the series finale of Younger, “Older,” which drops on Paramount+ today.
After winning the man of her dreams back from the crazed Quinn Tyler (Laura Benanti), who was about to whisk Charles Brooks (Peter Hermann) off to the tropics, Liza Miller (Sutton Foster) begins the series finale of Younger by waking up with her guy. However, that’s not where it all ends for the burgeoning publishing executive, and it’s not all tears either.

When “Younger” debuted in 2015, the show was built on a lie. The female protagonist, Liza Miller, played by the Tony Award-winning Sutton Foster, is a 40-year-old divorcee who poses as a millennial in order to re-establish a career in the book publishing industry.
Seven seasons later, as the show enters its final batch of episodes, “Younger” is telling the truth.
“There is no more lie. She is not hiding anything anymore, and this season, she is creative and daring and is taking charge,” Foster says of her character.
For the first time since the series has been on the air, Liza’s age is not the crux of the show. With her real identity out in the open, the storylines won’t be rooted in dancing-around Liza’s lie, which opens up the floodgates for entirely new character dynamics — especially when it comes to Liza’s love life.

For its sixth season, the Younger TV show was supposed to Paramount Network. In early spring though, their parent company changed its mind and announced Younger season six would run TV Land. As Viacom has rebranded some cable networks (e.g. Spike became Paramount) and shifted programs between others, Younger was left not only as TV Land's best performing original series, but also its only remaining one. With all this upheaval between sister stations, will that matter? Will Younger be cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

It used to be that sitcoms in the ‘60s had all sorts of nutty “what-if” premises that required a chasm-sized suspension of disbelief from viewers. What if an astronaut kept an attractive female genie in a lamp (“I Dream of Jeannie”)? What if a witch tried to pass herself off as an average suburban housewife (“Bewitched”)? What if you mother was car (“My Mother the Car”)?
“Younger,” the brainchild of Darren Star that is based on a 2005 novel by Pamela Redmond Satran, is by no means that outlandish. The premise only slightly strains credibility as Liza Miller, a 40-year-old divorcee and mother of a teen daughter, who is desperately struggling to find a job at a book publishing house after her ex gambled away their savings and house.
Alas, most recruiters think this oldster isn’t hip enough to deal with the latest trends in social media and wouldn’t...

Younger just dropped the first big twist of its upcoming sixth season: Despite previously announced plans to relocate the Darren Star dramedy to Paramount Network, it will instead remain at TV Land, our sister site Deadline reports. Production has already begun on Season 6, which is expected to premiere sometime this year.
Darren Star’s new series Emily in Paris — with The Last Tycoon‘s Lily Collins now cast in the title role — will still premiere on Paramount Network, unlike the new First Wives Club series, which Viacom has now shuffled over to Bet. Until Younger returns, TV Land will be without any original scripted programming.

Sutton Foster‘s character may be in a love triangle with two married men (“Context is important,” she reminds us!) when Younger returns for Season 5, yet Liza Miller’s hot mess of a love life is not the most dramatic aspect of the TV Land series. For once.
Premiering Tuesday (TV Land, 10/9c), Younger‘s fifth season adds a generous scoop of #MeToo to the mix, causing the characters — and the audience — to do “a lot of reflecting,” Foster tells TVLine. Upping the stakes even further, Foster says the potential perpetrator is a “major character who’s been there all along.
