When the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes got underway earlier this year, many Netflix shows were left with fates up in the air.
Now that the strikes are over and Hollywood is getting back to normal, the series won't be making the cut for additional seasons are being revealed.
Deadline revealed Wednesday that Shadow & Bone, Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall will not be returning.
Shadow & Bone is the highest profile of the five shows, having made it to a second season.
Despite the freshman season garnering considerable buzz, Shadow & Bone Season 2 launched earlier this year to little fanfare.
Based on the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow and Bone Season 2 follows Alina Starkov, who is now on the run.
The series stars Jessie Mei Li (Alina Starkov), Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej Ghafa), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik...

For queer pop culture fanatics, Netflix’s “Glamorous” is the gift that keeps on giving.
Beyond the homages to everything from “9 to 5” and “Clue” (including a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it reference to Jade’s infamous Cover Girl commercial on “America’s Next Top Model”) and an early aughts party so dead-on it will induce vertigo in viewers of a certain age, there’s also Miss Benny’s wardrobe as assistant Marco, newly hired at Glamorous by Madolyn as Madolyn Addison’s assistant. (Even the name of Kim Cattrall’s character feels like a reference to Meryl Streep’s Madeline Ashton in gay cult classic “Death Becomes Her.”)
A gender-nonconforming queer man, Marco begins as a struggling makeup vlogger and ends in full glam, complete with a twinkling pantsuit straight from the Nicole Kidman for AMC collection. For a show that lives up to its name and for a non-binary character, the fits...

Glamorous star Miss Benny took to TikTok this week to open up about her time working on Netflix's Fuller House, and it sounds like it wasn't the best experience.
Miss Benny played Casey in two episodes of the Full House revival as Casey, a friend of Kimmy's daughter, Ramona.
"One of the Tanner sisters is, like, very publicly not for the girls, if that makes sense," Miss Benny shared on the social media platform, recalling that the cast member tried to get her character removed.
While Miss Benny never mentions Candace Cameron Bure by name, the actress' name was hashtagged in the video.
"I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person allegedly was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show."

In a TikTok video posted on Thursday, Glamorous star Miss Benny alleged that Fuller House co-star Candace Cameron Bure tried to have their character Casey — who was gay and served as Ramona’s (Soni Bringas) platonic prom date in Season 4 Episode 12 — written out of the Netflix sitcom.
Bure, who starred in all five seasons of Fuller House as DJ Tanner, however has denied Miss Benny’s accusation.

Glamorous star Miss Benny is opening up about her experience filming on Netflix‘s other comedy series, Fuller House, heavily hinting that one cast member wasn’t thrilled about her presence. Every generation gets the aspirational workplace it deserves. In 2006, “The Devil Wears Prada” helped establish the archetype of an imperious, intimidating woman who rules her chic urban office with an iron fist; with its obvious Anna Wintour analog, the book-turned-film also doubled as a bookend to the era of the print magazine editor’s omnipotence. Eight years later, Sophia Amoruso coined the term “Girlboss,” a cutesy moniker that soon got a Netflix adaptation to match. Latter-day examples have updated the template to keep pace with the times: “Younger” took place in the wake of the Great Recession, when securing a dream job requires some deceit, while “The Bold Type” was proudly progressive — think 2010s Cosmo, not mid-aughts Vogue. In these stories, actual employment is less secure, but the employer acts less like a dictator than a stern, if nurturing, mentor.

Glamorous is a Netflix series produced by CBS and created by Jordon Nardino. Starring Kim Cattrall (Sex and the City) and featuring breakthrough actor Miss Benny in a hilarious role, the series draws inspiration from The Devil Wears Prada, but with a more benevolent character. Although the show meets expectations, they are not particularly high.
The plot follows Marco, an aspiring influencer who lands a dream job with a makeup mogul. He embarks on a dazzling journey of self-discovery amidst the chaos of his work and romantic challenges.
While the show is an entertaining, glamorous comedy, it is more intriguing for its concept than its execution. As the series progresses, the comedy overshadows the plot, leaving it somewhat superficial. The acting is more convincing than the characters themselves, and the actors’ performances are more impactful than their dialogue. The series is too focused on being “glamorous” and not enough on delivering a compelling story.

As if Pride Month couldn’t get any gayer, “And Just Like That” Season 2 and Kim Cattrall’s new Netflix series, “Glamorous,” are premiering on the same day, June 22. “Isn’t that incredible?” says Cattrall’s co-star, actor and musician Miss Benny. “That is the gay stuff that I love. I’m excited for our show. I’m excited for that show. I’m excited for the spectacle of it all.”
In “Glamorous,” Miss Benny plays Marco, a gender-nonconforming wannabe influencer who lands a job working for a beauty mogul (Cattrall). Miss Benny says Cattrall signed on to “Glamorous” after watching a clip of them playing a “sexual, raunchy and queer” character on “American Horror Stories.” “That blows my mind because I did that whole part saying, ‘What if I do it with a little bit of Samantha?’” they say. “I mimic her portrayal of Samantha a lot in my campier work.

In early development, Marco Mejia, the gender-nonconforming queer character at the heart of the new series Glamorous — set inside the world of the makeup business — was conceived as a much younger character.
“Literally, Marco was in high school,” recalls Miss Benny, who plays him on the show, which debuts June 22. But over the four years that the actor (and former YouTube star) was attached to the project, “It got retooled and written so many times and is at a different network [Netflix] — and now Marco’s just like, an out-and-proud-living homosexual,” says the L.A.-based actor, 24, who grew up in Denton, Texas, and has had roles on Fuller House; Love, Victor; and American Horror Story. “When we shot the pilot, I had to shave like three times a day to somehow look like I was 17. And this time, they were like, ‘No, you can just be you.'”

‘Glamorous’ Trailer: Kim Cattrall Gets Her ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Moment in Netflix Queer Comedy Series
Netflix’s upcoming series “Glamorous” is like “The Devil Wears Prada” if Meryl Streep were replaced by “Sex and the City’s” Kim Cattrall and instead of Anne Hathaway, she hired drag queens and non-binary actor Miss Benny to work for her. The 10-episode LGBTQ comedy series premieres June 22 on the streamer.
“Glamorous” follows baby-faced new hire Marco Mejia (Miss Benny), a young, queer man who lands a job for the legendary CEO Madolyn Addison (Cattrall). Madolyn’s makeup line, Glamorous Cosmetics, is plummeting. Suspecting her business is being sabotaged by someone on the inside, she hires Marco to sleuth around.
“She wants him to be her eyes and ears, to make friends — and find out what’s going on behind her back, to discover what they’re hiding and what they’re stealing. In exchange, she’ll teach Marco everything she knows – but she warns him, ‘This business isn’t all glitter and glamour,...

CBS Studios has teamed with Damon Wayans Jr to create a Baltimore-set version of its African drama MTV Shuga for streaming sister company Paramount+ and is co-producing shows in Australia and on the France-Spain border.
Shuga: Baltimore will follow the lives of six people seeking to find beauty in their futures while surviving in the rapidly tech-gentrifying Maryland city. Billed as a “hyper-surrealist tale,” the show is now in development, with Greg ‘Mellow’ Brown’ writing.
Wayans Jr. and Kameron Tarlow are co-producing through their Two Shakes Entertainment banner, with Paramount Global and MTV Staying Alive Foundation’s Georgia Arnold, Sara Piot and Richard Warburton sitting alongside them as executive producers. Mellow is a co-executive producer.
CBS Studios acquired rights to Shuga from the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, which is a Paramount initiative aimed at using the power of entertainment to change the attitudes and behavior of young people.

The first look of David E. Kelley’s investigative drama series “The Calling” were released Monday by Peacock, offering a glimpse into the show ahead of its Nov. 10 debut on the streamer.
Adapted from a series of novels by author Dror Mishani, the show’s plot follows a New York Police Department detective named Avraham Avraham (Jeff Wilbush), who typically relies on spirituality to guide his pursuit of truth until one investigation makes him rethink his beliefs.
The series stars Wilbush, Juliana Canfield, Karen Robinson and Michael Mosley.
One image highlights a particularly tense, yet slightly absurd moment where Wilbush is locked hands with a man wearing a hotdog suit in what looks like the context of an interrogation.
Behind the production is showrunner, writer and executive producer Kelley, whose lengthy career includes series such as “Picket Fences,” “The Practice,” “Ally McBeal” and “Big Little Lies.” Barry Levinson will also...

She will appear alongside the previously announced “Sex and the City” icon Kim Cattrall, as well as actor, singer-songwriter and YouTuber Miss Benny. In the show, Power will portray Mykynnleigh, a seemingly guileless corporate consultant who rolls into town to help make a business deal happen. To many fans of “Sex and the City,” Kim Cattrall was the definition of glamorous. So perhaps it’s only fitting that her next TV project will be “Glamorous,” a Netflix series in which Cattrall will be starring as a makeup mogul.

Exclusive: The CW in May opted not to pick up pilot The Lost Boys to series but authorized a retooling, including recastings. As part of that, producing studio Warner Bros. TV has released the entire cast of the pilot with the exception of Medalion Rahimi and Dakota Shapiro whose options have been extended. The duo will co-star in the new, reworked pilot, which will likely film by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, pilot Glamorous starring Ben J. Pierce, which was not picked up in early May with the rest of the CW new series but was left in serious contention for a series order, is now dead.
Launching a series adaptation of the iconic 1987 Warner Bros horror comedy movie The Lost Boys had been high in the priority list for the CW brass. The network first tapped Rob Thomas to conceive and write a Lost Boys series during the 2016-17 development season.

YouTube kicked off Lgbtq+ Pride Month in the throes of an explosive scandal, amid calls to remove right-wing commentator Steven Crowder from its platform, after he was discovered to have extensively harassed Vox journalist Carlos Maza about his sexuality (and also promoted a T-shirt line emblazoned with the slogan ‘Socialism Is For F*gs). YouTube ultimately opted to let Crowder’s channel stand, but apologized to the Lgbtq+ community for the hurtful outcome.
Now, YouTube -- which has long been outspoken in its support for the Lgbtq+ community from a corporate marketing perspective -- has announced a new film produced alongside World Of Wonder (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and storytelling nonprofit StoryCorps titled Stonewall Outloud.
The documentary will chronicle the Stonewall Riots of 50 years ago -- a series of protests in New York against an anti-gay police raid on the Stonewall Inn bar that became a seminal event in the gay rights movement.

Jane the Virgin fans were dealt a huge blow last week when The CW officially passed on Jane the Novella, a prospective spinoff of the soon-to-conclude dramedy.
The series was to be an anthology, with each season based on Jane the Virgin's titular character's novel series, with Gina Rodriguez attached to narrate.
But CW boss Mark Pedowitz has now opened up about the decision to not go forward with the series.
“We are big fans of Jennie Urman and Gina and we had great appreciation of what they did," he said during a conference call ahead of the network's upfronts presentation.

"In this particular situation, this spin-off didn’t quite get to where we wanted to get to. We have reached out to Jennie and if she wishes we are very interested in pursuing a potential another spinoff for Jennie.

Three of the four CW pilots that stood out this pilot season, Batwoman, Katy Keene, Nancy Drew and Glamorous, were picked up to series last week. The fourth, Glamorous, the only original concept and only comedy in the bunch, remains in contention.
“We are still looking at Glamorous,” the CW President Mark Pedowitz said during the network’s upfront call Thursday morning. “It is very, very funny. We will take a harder look at it when we go back to Los Angeles.”
Glamorous, which hails from Damon Wayans Jr. and his Two Shakes Entertainment, writer Jordon Nardino and CBS TV Studios, centers on a gender-nonconforming recent high school graduate (Ben J. Pierce) who lands the gig of a lifetime interning at a cosmetics company whose products he panned on YouTube.
“We believe Ben J. Pierce is a star,” Pedowitz said. “It needs some retooling so we can try to move forward with it.

The CW just picked up three of its six pilots to series, Batwoman, Katy Keene and Nancy Drew. Here is the status of the three that were left off, Glamorous, The Lost Boys and Jane the Novela.
Glamorous remains in contention, with a pickup decision will come soon, possibly before the CW’s May 16 upfront presentation; The Lost Boys will be retooled and re-piloted off-cycle; while the Jane the Virgin offshoot Jane the Novela is not going forward.
Glamourous, which hails from Damon Wayans Jr. and his Two Shakes Entertainment, writer Jordon Nardino and CBS TV Studios, had been considered a leading contender alongside Batwoman, Katy Keene and Nancy Drew and was the only original concept in the bunch.

Batwoman is moving forward at The CW.
The younger-skewing broadcast network has handed out a series order to its Ruby Rose-led DC Comics drama, which joins Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene — both of which are from Greg Berlanti — and Nancy Drew, from Gossip Girl and Dynasty duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Jane the Virgin spinoff Jane the Novela has been passed over. Original concept Glamorous — a drama pilot about a gender non-confirming high school grad who gets his dream job starring potential breakout Ben J. Pierce and produced by Damon Wayans Jr. — is still in contention. Rob Thomas'...

With the network screenings wrapping up, we are heading into the final stage of pilot season when network executives take the pilots that had screened the best/tested the highest and see which of them fit into their schedules for next season. With ABC’s order Thursday of Black-ish‘s young Rainbow-centered prequel Mixed-ish kicking off the new series pickups, here is our final pilot buzz list.
The field of leading ABC drama contenders has narrowed down a bit. Staying strong after the screenings are early standouts Pi drama Stumptown starring Cobie Smulders, the soapy, John Mayer song-inspired Heart of Life, the new NYPD Blue and the untitled Hank Steinberg /50 Cent legal drama. NY Undercover also has supporters; I hear its fate might be tied to that of bubble drama The Rookie as ABC is unlikely to go for three cop dramas in these two and NYPD Blue. I...

It’s late April. Normally at this time TV business’ attention is focused almost squarely on the broadcast pilot season as it is heading into its final stages — network pilot screenings followed by new series pickups. But this is not a normal time. With the WGA-Ata standoff completely dominating the Hollywood conversation following the mass firing of agents by writers, it has been hard for anyone to focus on pilot season. Here is what I hear is hot at the networks. Keep in mind that the information is still incomplete as not all pilots have been delivered to the networks. We will have a fuller picture at the end of next week when most of the pilots will have screened.
