"Star Wars" Day is here.
For the uninitiated, "Star Wars" Day -- an unofficial and fan-created "holiday" -- occurs every year on May 4, because "Star Wars" fans love their puns: "May the Fourth be with you." (Get it? Instead of "May the Force be with you.")
Though "Star Wars" Day isn't sanctioned by Lucasfilm or the U.S. government, millions of "Star Wars" fans celebrate the holiday by -- well, by at least remembering its existence and perhaps sending one earnest e-mail to their "Star Wars" buddy about why the original trilogy is so great. (Just me?)
Ironically, there actually is a "Star Wars" Day on the official record: the Los Angeles City Council declared May 25 to be "Star Wars" Day because that was the day "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" was released in 1977. The George Lucas classic has its 35th anniversary later this month.

Lous Ck’s independent, online, unencumbered and DRM-free release of his video recording of Louis C.K. live at the Beacon Theater sold more than 200,000 copies at $5 a piece. That netted the stand-up comedian, actor, and television and film writer more than $1 million in revenue and proved bypassing traditional distribution outlets (e.g. television, worldwide DVD distributors, and even web-based, but digitally restricted virtual merchandisers like iTunes and Amazon) was a profitable gamble. It also gave fans of Louis C.K. around the world an elegant, surprisingly hassle-less way to watch and own a piece of content from an object of their enjoyment and opened up the eyes of at least a few individuals in the traditional and new media entertainment industries to an alternative way of doing business. Among those few individuals is Aziz Ansari. The comedian, actor, Shutterbugger, Human Gianter, and Parks and Recreationer just released his new, hour-long, stand-up special Dangerously Delicious online,...

Hey everybody, who wants to talk about Star Wars again?!? Wait, wait, wait, hold on. Where are you all going? No, come back! This time, it's something cool. Promise.
Some of you hardcore seekers of all things Star Wars may have heard about Star Wars Uncut, the crowd-sourced pastiche of A New Hope that was launched in 2009. The brainchild of web developer Casey Pugh, Star Wars Uncut invited fans from around the world to imaginatively recreate a 15-second segment of the original film, using any medium of their choice. These videos were then displayed on the Swu website and voted upon by readers and submitters. In August 2010, the segment winners were chosen and the winning entries were stitched together and hosted on Vimeo.
So why is this 15-month-old video newsworthy today? Because the version hosted on Vimeo was an awkward cycle of separately-loaded 15-second segments, prone to delays and jarring pauses in dialogue and action.
