- Mark and his family lived in Kenya, East Africa for several years, working primarily with the Luo people in the Lake Victoria region of the country. Mark then spent a decade as a photojournalist and documentary film maker, primarily in the developing world. His work there has earned him over 20 national and international awards, including Telly Awards, a Webby, Davey's, MarComs, Avas and more. Since 2005, Mark has been teaching students how to be filmmakers at Dordt College in the Northwest corner of Iowa. It was there, and with a lot of student help, that Mark produced The Fourth World. Taking students to slums in India, Kenya, The Philippines and Guatemala was a fantastic experience for all and life-changing in many ways. The Fourth World has gone on to earn many festival awards--both nationally and internationally--as well as international competitions. It has been broadcast in various parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and continues to enjoy strong support on iTunes, Hulu and more.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Mark Volkers
