Talking with Rolling Stone less than an hour after Woodstock 50 was cancelled, festival founder and co-organizer Michael Lang sounds surprisingly at peace. “I’m disappointed,” he says. “But I’ve been sort of prepared.”

The planned three-day event was announced in January featuring headliners like Jay-Z, the Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Halsey, Miley Cyrus, and dozens more but was plagued with problems and controversy from the start. After weathering decades of decline, the global recorded music industry saw its fourth consecutive year of revenue growth in 2018, according to the latest annual review from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (Ifpi). Songwriter Mike Stoller was 3,000 miles away from the Royal Wedding, where the inspirational “Stand By Me,” which he co-wrote, was sung by the London-based, Karen Gibson-led Kingdom Choir at Windsor Castle’s St. George’s Chapel. The May 19 performance of the 1961 classic was the only “pop” song to be part of the Royal procession, reportedly a personal request from Meghan Markle after Prince Charles suggested the gospel troupe be invited.
The 85-year-old Stoller, who is still working, is the only living member of the trio which co-wrote the original.
Mirroring the mix of its creators – Stoller and Jerry Leiber were a pair of Jewish songwriters, while Ben E. King was an African-American vocalist and a former member of the Drifters – “Stand by Me” seemed to represent a historic acknowledgement of its origins with the introduction of the bi-racial Markle into the Royal Family.

Lindsey Buckingham’s latest departure from Fleetwood Mac certainly upheld the group’s longstanding penchant for drama.
No sooner had Variety confirmed that he’d left the band than word came, literally minutes later, that they’d already replaced him — with longtime Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn. The confirmation sealed several days of speculation after Billy Burnette — one of two guitarists hired to replace Buckingham last time he left the band 31 years ago — wrote in a hastily deleted tweet on April 4: “Breaking news: Lindsey Buckingham is out but I’m not in. A little pissed off but I’ll get over it.”
While sources told both Variety and Rolling Stone that Buckingham was fired, a source close to the situation says it’s a matter of semantics that requires some backstory.

2017 has been quite a year for Khalid.
The 19-year-old performer kicked things off strong in January, when his breakthrough single, “Location,” hit the Billboard R&B Top 10. Two months later, the song’s remix -- featuring Lil Wayne and Kehlani -- was released, along with his debut album, American Teen. In August, he won Best New Artist at the VMAs. By November, he was a Grammy nominee.
“This year has most absolutely been one big whirlwind,” the artist, born Khalid Donnel Robinson, recently told Et. “I try to take all of my experiences in and not take anything for granted. It’s really hard for me to pick and choose highlights because everything has been so incredible!”
It may be tough for him to pick a standout moment from a year that looks more like a best-of reel, but one highlight has to be the singer calling his own shot when it comes to the GRAMMYs. On the morning...

Each year, the Grammy Awards puts together some of the most memorable moments in music with unforgettable collaborations.
Music's biggest night is the ideal place for artists both old and new to come together and make history live on stage.
Check out 10 of the most epic Grammy duets below.
1. Lady Gaga and Elton John

If there was an award for the most theatrical GRAMMYs debut, Lady Gaga would be a definite contender. In 2010, Mother Monster took viewers through the "Fame Factory" and emerged from the ashes seated at a double-sided piano with Elton John. The two served up an unforgettable duet of Gaga’s “Speechless” and John’s “Your Song.”
2. Prince and Beyonce

Years before Queen Bey claimed the throne, she bowed down to the one and only Prince. In 2004, Beyonce shared the stage with the Purple One for a fierce medley of “Purple Rain” and “Crazy in Love.”

Celine Dion, Imagine Dragons and other top performers appeared onstage at the Vegas Strong Benefit Concert on Friday in Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena, the largest musical event to pay tribute to the victims of the October 1 shooting. From inside a 32nd-floor suite at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, a male gunman fired below into the audience of the Route 91 Harvest Festival, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds more before shooting himself dead. It marked the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The nominees are in for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, and music's biggest night will feature some of your favorite artists ...though some were snubbed.
Singer-songwriter Andra Day announced the four major categories -- Best New Artist, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Album Of The Year -- on Tuesday's CBS This Morning.
As far as snubs go, Ed Sheeran was only nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for his track, "Shape of You," to the shock of many of his fans. Lady Gaga and Kesha also received minimal nominations, despite the popularity of their albums.
However, Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar earned quite a few Grammy nods, as well as Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito" song that features Justin Bieber.

Kelly Clarkson transported us back to 2003. Pink scaled the side of a building. Tracee Ellis Ross was just so happy to be there.
The 2017 American Music Awards were broadcast on ABC Sunday night, and the three-hour ceremony featured moments both impressive (seriously, Pink did acrobatics on a hotel!) and underwhelming (we were all rooting for you, Selena Gomez!)
We narrowed down those 180 musical minutes into a slideshow of 15 highlights and lowlights from this year’s AMAs. Among the moments we included: Jamie Foxx’s solemn cold open, Imagine Dragons’ memorable performance with Khalid and… whatever Nick Cannon was wearing.

However, what got the attention of many on social media, including singer Halsey -- who was nominated with The Chainsmokers for Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Pop/Rock Song -- is the large gender gap present on the nominees list. Apart from the categories specifically designated for female artists in fact, the overwhelming majority of the categories have no female nominees at all. Dancing With the Stars kicked off its second week on Monday, and there was already a score of injured stars trying to push through the pain to deliver on the dance floor.
Property Brothers star Drew Scott was the first to dance, alongside partner Emma Slater, with a quickstep set to Louis Prima's "Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)." However, the day before the live show, Scott hurt himself during dress rehearsals.
As they practiced on stage, Scott was trying to work on some of the feedback judge Len Goodman had given during the premiere, and he ended up pulling his hamstring. However, the fast-paced routine ended up being the perfect dance for him.
After getting their mostly positive feedback from the judges, Scott and Slater joined co-host Erin Andrews backstage, and the Hgtv star said he's still feeling the pain, but it's manageable.
