It’s interesting to go back and revisit the origins of films and the ideas that spawned them sometimes. For instance Stargate is supposed to have centered around the character of Elizabeth Langford, the woman that recruited the Daniel Jackson in the original movie. Since then Stargate has been an entirely TV-based adventure and has obviously taken on a lot of new recruits for the crucial roles. Langford was only minimally involved in the movie, but in the shows she’s been something of a mainstay and as such it’s only natural that the show would go back to its roots and

Emily Ratajkowski is so much more than meets the eye.
Rocking a faux brunette wig, Ellery silk bra top top and black Dior beret, the 26-year-old model glows on the cover of Allure's August issue, but it's her interview with the beauty magazine that really caught our attention.

Constantly being in the spotlight and unashamedly posting risqué pics of herself on Instagram, Ratajkowski admits that she's often judged for her looks -- and doesn't understand why some people find sexiness offensive.
"It really bothers me that people are so offended by breasts," she says. "That's when I realized how f**kd our culture is. When we see breasts, we don't think of beauty and femininity. We think of vulgar, oversexualized images."

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...
As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances.

So, it's now been a couple of weeks since The Incident took place on Grey's Anatomy, and now that the dust has settled we're looking back on the other small-screen deaths that have left us similarly destroyed.
Below, we've listed 17 of the TV demises we're still not over. In no particular order. They all made us sad. We're not crying, it's just raining. On our faces.
Warning: Just in case this doesn't go without saying, spoilers galore lie ahead. Some of these shows are finished, some are still on, but all of the episodes referenced aired in 2014 or earlier.
1. Joyce Summers (Buffy)
Spoiler: Joss Whedon is going to show up a few times on this list. The man has a self-confessed cruel streak when it comes to offing beloved characters, but the death of Buffy Summers' mother is in a different league even by Whedon standards.

From Doctor Who to Buffy and Supernatural, we celebrate the TV finales that turned out not to be their show's final episodes after all...
Most shows are lucky if they get one finale. So many series are abruptly cancelled before they can make any preparations at all, it’s the lucky few that are given a chance to finish off their story arcs and say goodbye to their characters. And then there are the very few shows that, having managed this impressive feat, are unexpectedly renewed and find that their finale isn’t a finale after all. Here, we celebrate five episodes that would have been excellent series finales, but for the minor point that they aren’t, in fact, the series finale.

So how on earth does this single working mama have a body like this? Genetics come into play, of course, and a healthy diet helps as well, but Adriana is quick to...

In the world of Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, their big, famous properties never lay dormant for long. Emmerich in particular is still developing at least one sequel to Independence Day, and while sequel rumours have also floated for Stargate, nothing has come through the web portals lately. Until now, that is, as MGM and Warner Bros. have announced that Emmerich and Devlin will return for a new trilogy. There are zero details of what the new film – or, as all involved appear to be hoping, films – will entail, and we don’t yet know whether it will explore a whole new story or reboot the roles originally played by Kurt Russell, James Spader and Jaye Davidson. Revisiting Russell’s Colonel O’Neil and Spader’s Dr. Daniel Jackson isn’t out of the question, though they could have new faces. Also unlikely is any connection with the long-running Stargate TV franchise,...

I never really got into MacGyver, but I got my Richard Dean Anderson fix on Stargate Sg-1.
Stargate, as many of you I’m sure remember, was a 1994 movie which circled around a gigantic ring made of unknown metal and covered in what is believed to be Egyptian hieroglyphs that is discovered buried in the sands of Giza, Egypt in during an archeological expedition in 1928. The purpose of the ring remained a mystery for sixty years, its hieroglyphs untranslatable. Finally a brilliant linguist and archaeologist specializing in Egyptology named Daniel Jackson (James Spader) is co-opted by the U.S. government and brought to Cheyenne Mountain (home of Norad) to decipher the scrawlings on the ring, which has been brought there for study and possible use by the military.

The Avengers has finally met their match in…Robert California? Marvel has announced James Spader will suit up to play the self-aware machine supervillain Ultron in its highly anticipated Avengers sequel, which writer-director Joss Whedon revealed last month at Comic-Con will be called (aptly enough) Avengers: Age of Ultron. The 53-year-old actor, who charmed tube viewers most recently as Andy's quirky boss in the second-to-last season of The Office, is no stranger to bad guy roles of course, having played a slew of sleazoids early in his career in such films as Pretty in Pink, Less Than Zero and Sex, Lies and Videotape. And Spader's dabbled in sci-fi fantasy too as Egyptologist Daniel Jackson...

Out of the three franchises with ‘Star’ in the title, Stargate is the most overlooked. While it has its dedicated fan base it never reached the heights of the others despite its 17 season run (admittedly this was over 3 shows but still). For me though it was the one I loved the most, from the first episode I saw (Tin Man) right up to the finale of the second spin off Stargate Universe, this show just clicked with me.
Now I’m going to take a look at each episode, right back from the first. I aim to do one of these a week, so with the amount of episodes produced this should conclude in 2076 or thereabouts. I did give a lot of thought to starting with the original movie but decided that due to the recasts and the different production team I would just start with Sg-1. Maybe I’ll...

The 1994 sci-fi film Stargate was a pretty awesome movie when it first came out. Since its release, the fanbase for it has grown thanks to the several TV series that have been made over the years. It's been awhile since I've seen the original movie, so I think I'll watch it again soon.
As a tribute to the film, artist Todd Slater created this cool limited edition poster design for the Skuzzles collection. Here's what the artist had to say about the piece,
I was 15 when Stargate was released in theaters in 1994 and I was immediately struck by it's epic scale and grand atmosphere. When Stargate Sg-1 premiered in the summer of 1997, it was a transitional phase for genre television. The episodic model was the norm and had been mastered by several Star Trek series during that decade. Even so, forward-thinking visionaries like Chris Carter (The X-Files) and J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) were experimenting with a different model. Adapted from the 1994 Roland Emmerich feature Stargate, this series balances the old-school formula with a focus on continuity. Creators Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright make limited tweaks yet stay rooted in the “mission of the week” structure. The foundation for this approach is the Cheyenne Mountain facility, the site for Stargate Command. Commonly known as the S.G.C, this high-security fictional location is set in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This base feels like it comes from another TV era, but it serves a key purpose in this show. The facility grounds the series in reality...

When you think of Kurt Russell, one of the movies you probably forget he is in is Stargate. I know, you hardcore Stargate-lovers probably are snorting at that comment, but those who are less savvy to the Stargate universe are going to forget that the American Badass is in the film. Kurt Russell has a small part in the film (compared to Spader ) but there is a lot of emotions hiding behind that military outfit and chiseled face. I am here to not only talk about how awesome Kurt Russell is but I am also here to talk about the pathos behind the character of Jack O’Neil.

This review may contain spoilers A new genre medical drama with Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks, "Stargate: SG1") and Lois Lane (Erica Durance, "Smallville") premiered, and of course I tuned in. The show starts off with a fairly small bang as the taxi Alex Reid (Durance) and Charles Harris (Shanks) gets side swiped. Alex was not even wearing a seat belt, having been straddling Charles moments before and is completely unhurt. Charles appears to have a cut on his head. They get out, call it in (name checking Adelaide Street, is it officially set in Toronto? It's filmed there) and check on the other driver. She has a collapsed lung and Charles fixes it with a pocket knife and a tampon tube (none of which was sterilized first, eww!). He then collapses and the drama starts. He is her ...

NBC/CTV's "Saving Hope" is not your typical medical drama. Sure, with "Smallville"'s Erica Durance, "The Vampire Diaries"' Daniel Gillies and "Stargate Sg-1"'s Michael Shanks as the leads, there's definitely no shortage of good-looking doctors on staff. And yes, there's plenty of interpersonal development, as well as weekly surgical cases and miracles. Indeed, on a Wednesday afternoon, in a suburban Toronto-building-turned-hospital set, one such crisis is currently underway.
