Maleficent gives audiences a glimpse behind one of the most beloved fairy tales of all time, Sleeping Beauty, as shown through the eyes of its villain. Is it enough to enchant its viewers?
Maleficent takes us on the journey into the legend behind the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty that we have all grow to love and know. Driven by revenge, Maleficent places an irrevocable curse on Stefan’s firstborn daughter Aurora (Elle Fanning). This year, 2014, marks the 55th Anniversary of the character who put a spell on young “Sleeping Beauty” in the animated feature released by Disney in 1959.
Since her introduction, Maleficent has been Disney’s all-‐time most popular villain. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well. Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Matt Smith,...

As promised, Disney has released the first official teaser trailer for Maleficent, a live-action prequel of sorts telling the origins of the notorious villain from Sleeping Beauty. "Teaser" is about all you can expect from it as well, as it seems to give no real hint to the main story, and mostly features shots of Angelina Jolie looking awesome as the titular character. Come inside to check it out.
I don't know what I was expecting from this trailer, but what we got seems pretty light. I know it's a teaser, but even for that, it's not giving much of anything away, nor any real hints at the story. Perhaps it's because I don't know enough about the character, as some hardcore Disney fans might. Either way, I think I was hoping for a little more, and I'll explain why after:

This morning Disney revealed the first official poster for their upcoming live action film, Maleficent, which focuses on the life of one of their most iconic villains (from Sleeping Beauty). Better yet, the poster reveal comes with an announcement that the first trailer will be dropping tomorrow morning!
I'll admit that I haven't been overly excited by this film, but I'm always down for a really good 'falling from grace' kind of story, and I hope Maleficent falls into the better of them. Anyway, the new poster doesn't give us much aside from a great shot of Angelina Jolie in costume, but it's okay because we'll be trailer tomorrow which will debut at 9am Est.
