After a night of cheese, a Madonna/Abba mash-up and a distinct lack of number ones in a 'number one'-themed week, it's time for another evening of controversy and bad decision-making. Jahmene Douglas has topped Digital Spy's weekly 'best singer' poll for the first time this week. Will he also sail through to round six? The growing cult icon that is Christopher Maloney finished at the bottom of our poll, but could he escape the bottom two once again? After last week's general outcry of everyone in the UK disagreeing with the final decision to send home Jade Ellis, could we have a shock-free week for once? Join Digital Spy's live blog from 8pm when The X Factor results show airs on ITV1.

Digital Spy readers have fumed at Jade Ellis's exit from The X Factor and have called for the sing-off process to be dropped from the show if the judges no longer base their final verdicts on the performance. Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos backed their own acts - Ellis and Union J - on yesterday's show - but Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger both chose to save Union J, citing the boyband's work ethic and potential. Scherzinger branded Ellis her "favourite voice" on the show, while Barlow described her as a "phenomenal vocalist", but both decided not to vote on the sing-off performances. Viewers have complained to Digital Spy arguing that the judges' decisions in the latest series have been based on factors outside of the performances on the Sunday show. Some fans claimed that the sing-off is now (more)...

Jade Ellis has admitted that she found it hard to represent her musical tastes on The X Factor. The eliminated singer told The Xtra Factor that she would have liked the opportunity to sing more soulful tracks. She said: "To be honest, it's been a bit difficult to do the music I really like on the show. "I like a lot more soulful music like Indie Arie, Jill Scott but there's always a problem because people don't know the songs." The singer lost out in tonight's final showdown with Union J after the two acts received the fewest amount of public votes this weekend. She was criticised for her performance of 'Freak Like Me' on Saturday's show and judge Gary Barlow said he didn't believe her vocals were as strong as previous weeks. (more)...

Jade Ellis has become the latest act to be eliminated from The X Factor. Ellis fell into the bottom two this week alongside boyband Union J after both acts received the fewest amount of public votes. After competing in a sing-off, she lost out in the judges' vote. She performed a rendition of Dido's 'White Flag', while Union J chose to sing Pink's 'Perfect' in the sing-off. However, Tulisa's act was eliminated after the judges opted to save Louis Walsh's group. This week saw the judges make the final decision for the first time this series. In previous weeks, the result has been taken to Deadlock after the judges' decision was split. Louis Walsh and Tulisa predictably saved their own acts, with both Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow choosing to save Union J and send Ellis home. Louis (more)...

Former X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon has tipped Tulisa Contostavlos to be the winning judge of the new series. The I'm a Celebrity winner, who finished third on the ITV singing competition in 2009, predicted that Ella Henderson and Jade Ellis would propel Contostavlos to victory for a second consecutive year. Asked which X Factor judge's line-up impressed her most, Solomon replied: "Definitely Tulisa - her acts are really strong. "Ella Henderson is my favourite in the competition this year but I also really love Jade Ellis â“ her look is awesome and she has a lovely tone to her voice." Solomon also ruled out the idea of appearing on The X Factor's rival reality show Strictly Come Dancing. "I'm (more)...
