Move over, MrBeast: Feastables has company in the creator candy business. FaZe Rug (real name Brian Awadis) has expanded his offline empire through 1Up Candy, which is launching with a line of sour gummies.
1Up’s first product is available in a six-pack filled with “extremely sour” gummies, which retails for $17.99. For the first 72 hours post-launch, 1Up sales will be limited to Cash App card holders. Those consumers will be the first buyers to take on Awadis’ Sour Gummy Challenge, which asks brave eaters to endure the ultra-tart flavor of the 1Up gummies. To make that challenge a bit less cruel, each six-pack comes with complimentary “Neutralizer” drink mixes.
Awadis’ candy brand is summoning childhood nostalgia by inviting buyers to remember the first time they ate Warheads. As part of that effort, the creator took an early crack at the Sour Gummy Challenge and posted the results on his YouTube channel,...

Exclusive: Copper comes from Arizona, and Peaches from Georgia, but if we had to rewrite the lyrics to the Blossom Dearie standard “Rhode Island is Famous For You,” you can add film production to the latter 1,214 square mile sized state. Much of that has to do with producer Chad A. Verdi who over the last eight years has pumped out 20 features with notable homegrown titles like 2016’s Bleed for This and the upcoming Grindstone Entertainment Group/Lionsgate crime pic Vault, both which shine a spotlight on his native Rhode Island.
Vault is one of six projects that Verdi has in his 2019-2020 pipeline, which also includes Martin Scorsese’s upcoming Netflix movie The Irishman this fall. The pic reps Verdi’s fifth film with The Departed Oscar-winning director and producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Verdi’s previous Ep credits with Scorsese include Silence, The 50 Year Argument, and the 2017 Amelie van...

There’s nothing like some yokel conversation to introduce a film’s environment while also foreshadowing the ensuing plot. It’s easy to dismiss the aging gas station owner and his even older customer’s back and forth about a wolf seen a few miles away because neither is listening to the other. The former explains how it was probably just a coyote before the latter comes to his own epiphany that the game warden will end up finding a coyote. We want to laugh except for the fact that their delivery is arid dry, their performances straightforward without a notion of breaking from steely façades in morning gossip. These are two citizens of Goodland, Kansas and perhaps perfect exemplars of that label: slow yet tenacious, always serious and ready to fight.

Screen Media has secured the North American rights to Robert Schwartzman’s (Dreamland) sophomore film, The Unicorn, which had its world premiere at the recent SXSW Film Festival. The romantic comedy, which will be released sometime this year, stars comedians Lauren Lapkus and Nick Rutherford as an indecisive couple thrust into the most uncomfortable night of their lives when they decide to invite a third party into their relationship. Lucy Hale, Beck Bennett, Dree Hemingway, Beverly D’Angelo, John Kapelos, Maya Kazan, Darrell Britt-Gibson, and Kyle Mooney co-star. Rutherford, a former SNL writer, co-wrote the screenplay with Kirk C. Johnson and Will Elliott. Schwartzman and Russell Wayne Grove produced the pic, while Bret Disend, Al Di, Mark Weiss, Jessica James, Bo An, Viola Du, and Nick Gross served as executive producers. Seth Needle negotiated the deal for Screen Media with ICM and Submarine on behalf of the filmmakers.

Review of Puncture, starring Chris Evans, Mark Kassen, Vinessa Shaw, Brett Cullen, Marshall Bell and Michael Biehn Puncture provides a great service in documenting the corruption surrounding an innocuous-sounding but important medical device: the safety syringe. Yet in the hands of a first-time screenwriter and co-directors, this cinematic retelling of the late Houston attorney Mike Weiss’s (Chris Evans) gripping, uphill battle with insidious corporate forces in the late 90’s falls into such an instantly recognizable formula that much of its entertainment potential is lost. It begins with Vicky (Vinessa Shaw), a pretty, young local ER nurse, who accidentally sticks herself with a needle while attempting to sedate a shaking Pcp addict. Then flash forward three years to the shirtless, rippled Captain America physique of Chris Evans as Matt Weiss, hotshot personal injury lawyer snorting coke and speed-talking through a case in his hotel room...
