Syfy has revealed the official trailer and key art for the second season of Reginald the Vampire, which will premiere on May 8, 2024, at 10 p.m. on Syfy.
Reginald Andres finally got his life together – when he was turned into a vampire.
While he doesn’t fit into the stereotypical expectations of what a vampire looks like – he’s not chiseled or classically handsome – Reginald has found his place amongst an unlikely cohort that includes the cool vampire who sired him, the former vampire chieftain turned unexpected ally (or is she?), and his co-worker/former girlfriend.
A show with a lot of heart and just enough blood, Reginald the Vampire proves the undead life is just as complicated as life itself.
The series stars Jacob Batalon, Em Haine (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Mandela Van Peebles (Mayor of Kingstown), Savannah Basley (SurrealEstate), Marguerite Hanna (Ashley Weeks), Aren Buchholz (Supernatural), and Georgia Waters...

Some of you can check it out in the embed above but it’s geo-blocked, so some of you might not be able to see it, depending on where you are. Don’t blame me, this was Syfy’s doing.

While the news lately has been full of cancellations, fans of Syfy’s Chucky and Reginald the Vampire will be happy to learn that both shows have been renewed. Chucky‘s Season 3 renewal at Syfy and USA shouldn’t be much of a surprise, with the continuation of the Child’s Play saga highly acclaimed by both fans of the killer doll franchise and newcomers alike. According to Deadline, the Don Mancini-created show was a top 10 drama in the much sought-after 18-49 demo. Genre vets Jennifer Tilly, Brad & Fiona Dourif, and Devon Sawa all star on the well-reviewed series opposite Zackary Arthur. Mancini, in a statement to Deadline, promised big things in store for the next season:

SyFy had some excellent news for fans of Chucky and Reginald the Vampire on Sunday.
The cable network renewed Chucky for Season 3 and Reginald the Vampire for Season 2.
We have to admit, we were a bit worried about the future of both shows, especially given that Chucky was previously picked up for its second as the freshman season was airing.
SyFy shared in a press release that Chucky ranks as a top-10 cable drama for 2022 in the 18-49 demo with a week of DVR factored.

Reginald continued to make some waves in the vampire community on Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 3.
Maurice made a deal with an unlikely accomplice, Angela, that may change Reginald's future as a vampire.
This deal consists of Angela and Maurice setting Reggie up for a big vampire assessment to decide whether he lives or dies.
The vampire assessment sounded like an interesting event that we would love to learn more about, but that may not happen soon.
The discovery of Reginald's ultimate ability may lead to his death sooner than he realized, much to Maurice's chagrin.
In most vampire media, most vampires can glamor human subjects to make them forget they were fed on or do what they're told.
This proved to be true in Reginald The Vampire as well, but Reginald himself gained the ability to take it another step.

Since launching his acting career in 2016, Jacob Batalon has stood side by side with serial killers, a knight errant, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But for his latest project, the Hawaii native is stepping into the spotlight to redefine what it means to be a vampire. Before he took the stage at this year's New York Comic Con alongside his fellow cast and crew, we had the chance to speak to Batalon about "Reginald the Vampire," the new series on Syfy about a newly minted vampire unlike we've ever seen before in media, one who has just as much trouble with his undead life as he did while he was still alive.
In our brief conversation, we touched on body positivity, representing his culture throughout his filmography, and what really drew him to the character of Reginald Andres. Plus, we get into their decision to alter the original name of Johnny B. Truant...

“He’s just different than any other vampire I’d ever seen, and any other hero,” says Reginald the Vampire writer Harley Peyton about the titular character of the new Syfy dramedy. “And usually in those stories, he would be the next-door neighbor, the comic relief, the sidekick, but in our story, he’s the hero.” Stars Jacob Batalon (Reginald), Em Haine (Sarah Kinney), Savannah Basley (Angela Hibbert), alongside series director Jeremiah Chechik and Peyton, sat down with Emily Aslanian in the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine New York Comic Con 2022 suite. They revealed what attracted them to the series, adapted from the Fat Vampire books by Johnny B. Truant, how each character feels toward Reginald and their dynamics with him in the show. “We don’t fall in love with the romanticism of vampires, we sort of poke fun at it,” Batalon said in the video above. “So that’s a great thing.

Vampires seem to be making a comeback on the small screen, and Syfy brings a comedic entry into the resurgence.
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 1 managed to provide some light-hearted vampire fun while staying true to vampires.
While its seriousness is still evident, we can appreciate its fun in a time when serious (Let The Right One In) or sexual (Interview With a Vampire) vampires seem to reign.
The premiere set up the entire season well but didn't do much else to draw us in.
Jacob Batalon portrays Reginald wonderfully, and we hope the show improves as the season leaves setup mode.
In a world full of remakes and reboots, the freshness of Reginald the Vampire provides a brilliant sign of relief.
Based on Johnny B. Truant's novel, Fat Vampire, the series follows Reginald as he becomes a vampire and deals with the internal politics that reflect his real-world issues.

Reginald the Vampire is Syfy‘s latest series focused on the nocturnal creature that goes bump in the night, but actor Jacob Batalon promises the titular character is different from the rest. Based on the Fat Vampire novels by Johnny B Truant, the series delves into the deeper aspects of Reginald beyond his newfound need to suck blood, some of which the actor relates to on a personal level. “My girlfriend and I read the first book … and I very much related to Reginald on such a deep level,” the 25-year-old said in a call with reporters ahead of the premiere, adding that the first season is based largely on the first book in the series. “I felt like just as an actor, preparing for it emotionally and mentally very much meant that I had to really deep like dig into the sort of past insecurities that I would have about myself.

This Reginald the Vampire review contains no spoilers.
For years, frightened mortals have been driving stakes into hungry creatures of the night, beautiful, but deadly in their eternal allure. Often coming up dry, results are universally messy, and mostly unappetizing. Now Syfy sticks a straw into the heart of the vampire mystique, and it’s yummier than it sounds. Reginald the Vampire stars Jacob Batalon as the new bloodsucker on the block, and he’s fairly gluttonous. Best known for playing Spider-Man’s best friend Ned Leeds, he is now buddying up with the undead, and battling the genre’s most insidious stereotypes.
The series is based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels, and it is a well-balanced horror-comedy meal, fairly lean, even. Vampires have always been portrayed as sexy beasts, ready to feed on an already enraptured prey, caught in the thrall of supernatural sensuality. Reginald sprinkles garlic on that stereotype,...

The specific rules of vampirism will vary from franchise to franchise. Some burn in sunlight while others merely sparkle; some sequester themselves into elaborate caste-based societies while others just sort of lounge around Staten Island. One quality shared by the vast majority of these vampires, however, is that they’re hot, by the most stringent standards of our human society — graced with flawless skin, chiseled cheekbones and, above all, slim, toned physiques.
Reginald (Jacob Batalon), the title character of Syfy’s new comedy Reginald the Vampire, is not hot. His not-hot-ness is neither up for debate nor incidental; it is explicitly the premise of the series, which Harley Peyton has adapted from the Fat Vampire book series by Johnny B. Truant. In theory, it’s a chance to toy with a well-trod genre, to put a fresh spin on the clichés that define it to this day.

Jacob Batalon addressed how playing the beloved character of Ned in Marvel’s “Spider-Man” trilogy helped inform how he approached his leading role in Syfy’s “Reginald the Vampire,” joking that he was grateful his fellow co-stars were “willing to put up with my diva-ness.”
“I think my experiences working on the ‘Spider-Man’ movies has really informed the way I operate on set in the way that I found that the easiest way for us to progress in a shoot is to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable and likes each other,” Batalon said on a panel Thursday as part of NBC Universal’s portion of the Television Critics Association summer tour.
Batalon also said he has learned a lot through the years from watching others on set.

“Being a vampire is the backdrop of this human story,” star Jacob Batalon (Reginald Andres) says of Reginald the Vampire (premiering October 5). Batalon, Em Haine (Sarah Kinney), Savannah Basley (Angela Hibbert), and Mandela Van Peebles (Maurice Miller) and showrunner Harley Peyton sat down with Emily Aslanian in the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine studio, sponsored by Hollywood unBranded, at 2022 San Diego Comic-Con to preview the new Syfy dramedy series, based on the Fat Vampire books by Johnny B. Truant. “What’s relatable about [Reginald] is he’s not trying to be anything or be anyone,” Batalon shares. “He’s just genuinely himself in that he may not be the typical hero of the story… he’s very much human in that he’s never realty experienced love. He’s never really experienced what it’s like to have friends, so he’s very much in this gray area of trying to figure life out.

From the sweeping majesty of Dracula’s cape to the picture-perfect teens of Twilight, vampires have traditionally been portrayed as beautiful, elegant, commanding, and full of themselves. Reginald the Vampire aims to change that.
Based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels, Syfy will hold a modern mirror to the less-reflected night creatures sucking high-calorie liquid proteins. The series stars Jacob Batalon—best known for playing Peter Parker aka Spider-Man’s best friend Ned Leeds—as Reginald Baskin, newly turned vampire.
“Vampires are vapid, very beautiful, but there’s nothing going on in their minds,” Batalon tells us. “Reginald is a very thoughtful and intelligent person. He toys with these vampires who are clearly not on his intellectual level.” This is because the newly-sired immortal can’t compete on a physical level. Even at his human day job, Reginald was bullied and belittled.

That series will feature Jacob Batalan (Spider-Man) in the title role.
As for Chucky, the series has a lot to unpack after the franchise-changing Chucky Season 1.

Syfy’s SurrealEstate will again see the light of day. The Canadian drama series, which was canceled last year, will return for a second season for premiere in 2023, Syfy has revealed.
The series, which stars Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, Adam Korson, Maurice Dean Wint, Savannah Basley, and Tennille Read, follows an elite team of specialists at The Roman Agency who handle the cases no one else can — haunted and possessed houses that literally scare would-be buyers away.
SurrealEstate will join previously announced new scripted series Reginald the Vampire, a dramedy based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire book, and space-set survival drama The Ark, from writer Dean Devlin, as well as Halloween horror movie Bring It On: Cheer or Die.
Syfy’s latest programming slate includes the return of the #1 and #2 new scripted cable series of 2021, the Alan Tudyk-led dramedy Resident Alien and Chucky, executive produced by Don Mancini.

Spider Man: No Way Home star Jacob Batalon has opened up about spotlighting the experience of “being someone who’s not conventionally beautiful” in his upcoming Syfy series Reginald the Vampire.
Batalon, who stars and exec produces the 10-parter, has been in Cannes this week promoting the show at Mip TV to global buyers. He told Deadline attacking social stigmas and smashing tropes are key to the show’s message.
“We spoke about the underlying message right at the start and talked about the experience of being a ‘not pretty’ person. That gave me such an incentive,” said Batalon, who starred in three Spider Man movies as Ned Leeds and also appeared in two Avengers pics.
Distributed by Cineflix Rights, Reginald the Vampire is based on Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire novels and follows the protagonist, who discovers he has unrecognized powers.

Jacob Batalon is best known as Spidey’s Bff Ned Leeds in the box office-smashing “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” but he’s exploring his undead side in upcoming Syfy comedy drama “Reginald the Vampire.” In the series, based on Johnny B. Truant’s “Fat Vampire” novels, Batalon plays a recently turned vampire, Reginald, who finds he still has mostly the same problems as his living counterparts: an evil boss, unrequited love and a vampire chieftain out to get him. Fortunately, it turns out Reginald isn’t entirely without powers of his own.
Batalon warns that “Reginald the Vampire” — produced by Thunderbird Entertainment-owned Great Pacific Media and distributed internationally by Cineflix Rights — is not your typical broody vampire drama. “I think our show does a really good job of putting those tropes on its head,” he says. “We absolutely poke fun at the fact that vampire films are drab and...
