For Late Night with the Devil star David Dastmalchian, all roads lead to and from Christopher Nolan.
In 2007, Dastmalchian was a struggling local theater actor in Chicago, and when Nolan’s The Dark Knight set up shop in the Windy City, he went through a circuitous casting process before eventually landing a part in his very first feature film. Dastmalchian played Thomas Schiff, a paranoid schizophrenic and former Arkham Asylum inmate that Heath Ledger’s The Joker disguised as his fellow honor guardsman during their infiltration of Commissioner Loeb’s funeral procession. When gunshots rang out and chaos ensued, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) cornered Schiff in an ambulance and then forcefully interrogated him in another location.
14 years later, as Dastmalchian began to prepare for the role of the charismatic but troubled late-night talk show host Jack Delroy in Cameron and Colin Cairnes’ Late Night with the Devil, his greatest inspiration...

It was announced today that Hulu has canceled How I Met Your Father after two seasons, which means that fans may never get to know the answer to the question posed by the title.
Set in the near future in 2050, How I Met Your Father follows Sophie (Kim Cattrall) telling her son the story of how she met his father back in the year 2022, when Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her close-knit group of friends – Jesse (Chris Lowell), Valentina (Francia Raisa), Charlie (Tom Ainsley), Ellen (Tien Tran) and Sid (Suraj Sharma) — were figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options.
Although How I Met Your Father largely stood alone from I Met Your Mother, it did feature a few appearances from the stars of the original series, including Cobie Smulders as Robin and Neil Patrick Harris as Barney.

Robert Greenblatt is getting serious for his next TV foray.
The former Showtime, NBC and HBO Max topper has set up limited series Death at Penn State at Hulu via his first-look deal with Lionsgate Television.
The liited series, which is currently in development at the Disney-backed streamer, is based on Caitlin Flanagan’s November 2017 feature Death at a Penn State Fraternity. The project, like Flanagan’s story, explores fraternity life and specifically tells the story of Tim Piazza who fought for his life for 12 hours before his Beta Theta Pi brothers called 911. By then it was too late. Joe Hortua (Better Things, Home Before Dark) is writing the script and will exec produce alongside author Flanagan and Greenblatt. As this unique season of The Bachelorette starts to wrap up, the Men Tell All episode is quickly approaching.
Hometown dates have almost finished, except for Rachel Recchia’s hometown with Aven Jones.
According to Reality Steve, fourteen men will be in attendance at the upcoming Men Tell All segment.
While the men talked amongst each other, emotions were high, things were said to each other, and questions were asked of the two leading women, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.
Tension continued to form in the room as the men had their own thoughts and opinions they wanted others to hear from issues that arose on the show.
As the women came out to confront the men they sent home, questions were asked of them that were hard to answer.

Jordan Vandergriff remains friends with his costars from The Bachelorette Season 19.
During Jordan’s brief time on the show, he appeared to be an initial frontrunner and even received co-lead Rachel Recchia’s first one-on-one date.
However, Jordan’s experience on The Bachelorette was quickly cut short when Rachel realized she didn’t feel a spark with Jordan during their dinner date and sent him home.
While Jordan didn’t have much time in the house, he still made a positive impression on viewers and his fellow men in the house.
Jordan recently shared a photo from his time with some of his costars for The Bachelorette Season 18 star Mario Vassall’s birthday.
The Bachelorette Season 19 stars also reacted to Jordan’s post, highlighting their bond.

Keegan-Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville and Judy Greer play former sitcom stars reunited decades later for a reboot in “Modern Family” creator Steve Levitan’s upcoming comedy series, premiering Sept. 20 on Hulu.
Aptly titled “Reboot,” the show is produced by 20th Television for Hulu. Details were announced Thursday at the TCA Summer Press Tour.
Poking fun at the TV industry’s growing inclination to reboot hit shows from the past, the series centers on an early 2000s family sitcom that is rebooted by Hulu, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together.
Key stars as Reed Sterling, a fussy actor on the fictitious family multi-cam sitcom “Step Right Up,” who graduated from the Yale school of drama and resents the show for ruining his career. Knoxville will play Clay Barber, a dark and filthy standup comedian who’s only real acting job was on the same bright and sunny sitcom. Greer stars as Bree Marie Larson,...

Exclusive: Even colleagues of Jordan Helman have noticed an uptick in his mood lately. The head of scripted content at Hulu Originals can’t seem to hide his optimism about the upcoming Emmy season and how, for once, the conversation won’t be laser focused on whether The Handmaid’s Tale takes home another trophy. With its robust slate of originals, Hulu could earn multiple nominations for series such as Only Murders in the Building, Dopesick, Pam and Tommy, The Girl from Plainville and Nine Perfect Strangers.
“I’d be lying if I said we didn’t feel immensely bullish and proud of where we are and what we’ve accomplished, particularly over the course of the last year,” Helman tells Deadline. “We have curated a steady slate of critical and commercial darlings that have not only performed on the platform, but in several cases have really found themselves at the center of the cultural conversation.

It's been eight years since How I Met Your Mother wrapped its run on CBS and the season finale of spinoff How I Met Your Father brought back an original star.
Hilary Duff's Sophie Tompkins made her way into McLaren's pub on Tuesday's season-ender and found herself getting some relationship advice from Robin Scherbatsky.
Yes, Cobie Smulders reprised the role, and it has got to be one of the stealthiest casting decisions in recent memory.
Far too often, big returns leak to the media several months in advance, but thankfully, this was a shocker kept well under wraps.
Ahead of the big meeting, Sophie questioned her relationship with Jesse after he told her that he loved her after they spent the night together.
“I once had a guy say ‘I love you’ on our first date,” Robin shared.
“Dude sounds like a real piece of work,” Sophie chimed in.

Hulu has picked up the comedy series “Reboot” from creator Steve Levitan, Variety has learned.
The show was originally ordered to pilot at Hulu back in August. Keegan-Michael Key and Johnny Knoxville lead the cast along with Judy Greer, who joins in the role played in the pilot by Leslie Bibb.
“After working thirty years in TV comedy, this is both my love letter to sitcoms and, if I’m being honest, much-needed therapy,” Levitan said.
Steeped in the irony of the television’s industry continuing inclination to reboot hit shows from the past, the series begins when Hulu reboots an early 2000’s family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast is back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.

Hulu has handed a straight-to-series order to Washington Black, the Sterling K. Brown-fronted adaptation of Esi Edugyan’s novel.
The streamer has given the limited series project a nine-episode order with Twilight Zone writer Selwyn Seyfu Hinds adapting for 20th Television. The project, which is also exec produced by This Is Us star Brown, has been in development at the digital platform for a couple of years.
Washington Black follows the 19th-century adventures of George Washington “Wash” Black – an 11-year-old boy on a Barbados sugar plantation who must flee after a shocking death threatens to upend his life. Brown will play the gregarious, larger-than-life Medwin Harris, who traveled the world after a traumatic childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia as the de facto Mayor of Black Halifax prioritizes the community over everything except Washington Black, his young protégé. Meeting Wash sends him down a challenging path of self-discovery.

The Handmaid’s Tale creator Bruce Miller isn’t sure whether the upcoming fifth season of the hit Hulu drama will be its last, but the pandemic helped put things into perspective for him.
“I’m never looking to end it,” he said in an interview for Deadline’s Contenders TV virtual event, which will be held Aug. 14-15. “I work with a group of very undifficult people; we have a lovely group of writers, a spectacular group of actors and visiting directors and our crew. What they did this year was amazing. They made this entire show during Covid. We shot the entire thing for two weeks. We wrote every script so that we could change the story so that we could do it with different actors but they made it themselves. I was here in Los Angeles and Liz was up there with executive producer Elisabeth Moss with all that experience.

Hulu's biggest series could be about to take its final bow.
According to Deadline, the creative forces are in negotiations with Hulu about how and when to end the Elisabeth Moss-fronted drama.
“The success of The Handmaid’s Tale remains paramount for us,” Jordan Helman, Head of Scripted Originals at Hulu, told Deadline of the show's future.
“That said, what is also most important to us is that we close out that show in creative fashion that feels organic so we are in constant communication, literally right now, talking with Bruce [Miller], Lizzie [Moss] and Warren [Littlefield], about what the best way to end The Handmaid’s Tale is."
"We haven’t landed on an answer… I imagine we’re going to be able to answer that question in the coming months.”

Marvel has had a successful run of TV dramas on Disney+ including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.
But could the comic book giant broaden its output across the Disney family with more series on sister platform Hulu? That’s certainly the intimation from Hulu head of scripted content Jordan Helman.
The streamer’s most recent Marvel live-action series Helstrom was canceled after one season and two of the four planned animated series – Howard The Duck and Tigra & Dazzler – did not move forward.
But Helman told Deadline, “Marvel continues to be an incredibly important partner and one of the biggest generators of content within the Disney ecosystem so we’re excited about the possibility of what may lie in the future with regards to the Hulu/Marvel relationship.”

Hulu and the producers behind “The Handmaid’s Tale” are starting to hold discussions about the future of the show, as it prepares to return to production for Season 5. Over the next few months, a decision will be made on whether this will be the show’s final season, as attention turns to sequel series “The Testaments” and how “Handmaid’s” feeds into it.
As it heads into its fifth season, “The Handmaid’s Tale” — currently Emmy-nominated for best drama, an award it won in 2017 — continues to grow in viewership for Hulu. In a world where streamers rarely share data, Hulu did confirm that viewership for Season 4, which concluded on June 16, was up 32% over Season 3. It was the most-watched series on Hulu every week throughout this past season (which launched in April), including both originals and non-originals, according to the streamer.

Earlier this year, the streamer piloted the project, which is written and exec produced by Estrada and Corporate creators Jake Weisman, Matt Ingebretson and Pat Bishop with Fred Arminsen and Black-ish EP Jonathan Groff also exec producing.
The series stars rising Latino comedian Estrada as Julio Lopez, a self-described “punk ass bitch” who still lives at home and goes out of his way to help everyone but himself. The half-hour series sees Lopez work at a gang-rehabilitation non-profit and his quest to overcome his codependency issues with his family as he navigates working class life in South Central Los Angeles. Her promotion follows that of Jordan Helman, who was the head of drama before being named head of all scripted content. That was after Beatrice Springborn moved over to run NBCUnviersal’s UCP.
Silver joined Hulu in 2016. Before that she was vice president of TV development at Chernin Entertainment and director of development at Paramount TV.

Fertile Crescent heads to Hulu, with James Purefoy starring in the modern drama series set during the Syrian Civil War.
