Kevin R. Wright’s MCU timeline has come to a close. The Loki executive producer and now-former VP of production and development at Marvel Studios has exited his position to produce original film and TV projects, independently. Wright was one of the central creative figures behind the Tom Hiddleston-led Loki, which is widely considered to be the crown jewel of Marvel Studios’ Disney+ slate. On top of six Emmy nominations, the time-bending sci-fi series is the first-and-only MCU live-action series to receive a second season thus far.
In 2018, when Disney CEO Bob Iger pivoted to streaming with Disney+, he asked his most successful studio, led by Kevin Feige, to expand its shared universe into television. So Wright took the initiative with regard to a potential series about the God of Mischief, crafting a 30-page pitch that included many of the future show’s foundational elements, including the Time Variance Authority.

We recently learned that Marvel Studios is eyeing Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy to helm Avengers 5. The filmmaker has read Michael Waldron's script for the project and is now in talks to take charge of a movie originally titled The Kang Dynasty.
The Cosmic Circus has shared an update on the project today, reiterating recent reports about it featuring a "grounded story" with Multiversal elements. The site has also heard that, when it comes to Avengers: Secret Wars, it will likely become a two-parter and feature "more than one central antagonist."
It also sounds like the plan is to adapt elements from Jason Aaron's Avengers Assemble event. In that, Mephisto rewrites reality to rid himself of Earth-616's Avengers once and for all; the heroes pursue the villain through the Multiverse and even meet their 10,000 B.C. counterparts. It also involved a Multiversal Masters of Evil.

The Office alum John Krasinski had long been a fan-favourite choice to play Mister Fantastic and finally got the chance to do so as a member of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' Illuminati.
Added during reshoots, Reed Richards' role in the sequel was far too brief and his death at the hands of the Scarlet Witch...well, the less said about that, the better. Even so, many fans appreciated seeing Krasinski suit up and it was a nice surprise for the stretchy superhero to make his MCU debut on Earth-838.
We've seen concept art with several different suit designs, but a viral clip from a VFX reel reveals just how close Mister Fantastic came to donning a primarily black suit instead of the blue one we saw on screen.

Steve Zahn has joined Glen Powell in the upcoming Hulu comedy series “Chad Powers,” Variety has learned.
The series was originally picked up at Hulu in February. Powell will star in the series in addition to co-creating and co-writing the pilot with Michael Waldron, with both serving as executive producers. The show is based on the Chad Powers character created by Eli Manning for his Epsn+ docuseries “Eli’s Places.” Manning wanted to learn more about the walk-on process for college football, so he donned a wig and prosthetic makeup so he could go undercover during the Penn State football tryouts.
The official description for the series states, “When bad behavior nukes hotshot Qb Russ Holliday’s (Powell) college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.”
Zahn will play Jake Hudson, described as “the charismatic head coach of a flagging college football program.

It looks like the retooled Avengers 5 movie is starting to come together, with Marvel Studios eyeing Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy as the top choice to helm the film.
As first reported by Deadline, Levy has been given the latest script penned by Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Though Marvel is keeping other potential directors in the mix after Levy previously turned down the role in March, it sounds like the studio is doing everything it can to accommodate him.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the window of opportunity to land Levy comes after Marvel pushed the timetable for Avengers 5 by several months, which could allay any scheduling conflicts with the final season of Stranger Things.
Deadline also has some details about the script for Avengers 5. It previously was centered around Jonathan Majors’ character, Kang the Conqueror, until Marvel parted ways with the actor in December.

Marvel Studios is still finding its director for the much-anticipated Avengers 5, and director Shawn Levy is reportedly at the forefront of prospects. The Canadian filmmaker has quite a lot going on after working on Deadpool & Wolverine, and now, he’s busy with the production of Stranger Things Season 5, so it’s not quite sure whether he wants another job on his plate.

For a while now, the status of Marvel’s next Avengers movie has been in flux. Back in July 2022, Kevin Feige announced that the Multiverse Saga would offer up two major hero team-up movies: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the wake of underperforming Phase 4 movies, and Jonathan Majors being dropped as Kang after an assault conviction, the plan changed – The Kang Dynasty is no more, Shang-Chi’s Destin Daniel Cretton stepped down from directing to focus on Shang-Chi 2 instead, and little has moved since then.
Until now. Because, according to Deadline, Marvel is eyeing up Shawn Levy as the man to next assemble the Avengers on screen. The filmmaker is currently hard at work in the final stages of Deadpool & Wolverine, which is gearing up to be a real big box office win – and, as a result, Marvel Studios is said to be keen...

Among Marvel Studios’ upcoming releases, the ‘Avengers’ series stands out as the most anticipated. With two new installments in development, the journey to the fifth film has been eventful. Following Jonathan Majors’ dismissal in December due to allegations of third-degree assault against his former partner, the film’s direction has become uncertain.
Internally, the title shifted from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avengers 5,’ leaving doubts about Kang’s role as the main antagonist. To provide clarity amidst the confusion, we’ve crafted this guide to consolidate all current information about the movie.
Much of the plot remains shrouded in mystery
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ was intended to debut Kang the Conqueror into the MCU and position him as the primary antagonist for the forthcoming phases, akin to Thanos.
However, shortly after the release of Quantumania, Majors was terminated by the studio. Presently, it’s uncertain whether Kang the Conqueror remains...

Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is undoubtedly the most exciting one. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are in development, and when it comes to the fifth installment in the franchise, we’ve been through a lot in the last few months.
Majors’ was fired back in December after being found guilty of third-degree assault against his former girlfriend, and since then, the direction of the movie is confusing, to say the least. The movie internally changed its name from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avenger 5,’ and we can’t even be sure that Kang is the main villain still. This is why, we decided to compile this guide, to quickly and efficiently summarize everything we know about the movie so far.

Deadpool & Wolverine Maker Shawn Levy Is Allegedly Being Eyed To Direct Avengers 5(Photo Credit –Shawn Levy/Instagram)
Ahead of the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, Shawn Levy is allegedly getting more good news regarding the next Avengers movie, Avengers 5. Marvel is very cautious about its releases. Only one MCU movie is coming out this year, and Avengers 5 has been shrouded in controversy for a long time, especially after Jonathan Majors’ firing from Marvel. He played the role of Kang the Conqueror and was being set up as the next big baddie in the MCU. Things went down south after he got arrested and was found guilty in the domestic violence case.

In a big show of confidence about the hopes for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” set to hit theaters in July and maybe save summer 2024 from the box-office doldrums, its director Shawn Levy (“Free Guy”) is apparently the first in line to be offered “Avengers 5,” formerly known as “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” According to Deadline, Levy has emerged as the top choice for the director’s chair, and apparently ‘Avengers 5” screenwriter Michael Waldron (“Loki”) has given him the latest version of the script for his eyes only.

Marvel Studios may have finally found a director for the next Avengers movie.
According to both Deadline and THR, Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy is in talks to helm the project, which was formerly known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty prior to the departure of Jonathan Majors as the villainous Kang the Conqueror.
The studio reportedly offered Levy the gig in mid-March, but he turned it down at the time as he was still putting the finishing touches on Deadpool and Wolverine and was also working on the final season of Stranger Things.
Apparently, Marvel's decision to "push the film by several months" opened the window of opportunity, and negotiations are now underway.
It sounds like this if far from a done deal, however. Levy is said to have been given the latest script by Michael Waldron, but has not given an answer on whether he will definitely come aboard,...

Deadpool & Wolverine is not in theaters for almost another two months, but the hopes and aspirations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—and perhaps now the summer movie season box office itself—are already being placed on Ryan Reynolds’ broad, leather-clad shoulders. Yet pressure he might receive if the latest report out of Deadline is true: director Shawn Levy has entered early talks to helm the next Avengers movie.

The Avengers may be assembling for Shawn Levy.
Levy, who is busy putting the final touches on Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, is in contention for the film and may be the studio’s choice to direct the next Avengers film.
The development is characterized as very early. Sources say Marvel and Levy are talking about the project and that the studio gave the latest script to the filmmaker late last week. But sources also say that other filmmakers are in the mix for the high-profile gig.
There is reason for some caution. Marvel previously — and quietly — offered the directing gig to Levy in mid-March, but at that point, the filmmaker turned it down. Scheduling was the concern at the time, as Levy is moving from various duties on Deadpool & Wolverine, which opens July 26, to the last season of Stranger Things. As Deadpool & Wolverine stands ready to save the summer box office, Marvel Studios may be looking to director Shawn Levy to save the Avengers as well. Deadline has heard that Levy has been given Michael Waldron‘s script for the next Avengers movie, and while no decisions have been made, it’s possible the studio may be eyeing him to direct the film.
Deadline adds that Marvel is “still planning to meet with other directors while they wait on a decision from [Levy].” However, he’s got some big projects on his slate. He will be “heavily involved” in the final season of Stranger Things and is also developing a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm. Even if Levy doesn’t end up directing the next Avengers movie, I’d wager that he definitely has a future at Marvel, particularly as the studio seems to have a lot of faith in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Exclusive: As Deadpool & Wolverine tracks huge ahead of its July 26 release and looms as a summer box office savior, we can reveal that director Shawn Levy is the top choice and is having early conversations to direct another Marvel Studios pic — the next Avengers movie.
Deadline hears that Levy has been given the latest script by Michael Waldron, though sources add that he has not given an answer on whether he will take the job, and the studio is still planning to meet with other directors while they wait on a decision from him.
Marvel Studios could not be reached for comment.
We can’t say for sure that Levy will take the job; he expects to be heavily involved as a director and executive producer of the final season of Netflix’s signature series Stranger Things, and there is also a Star Wars film in his future. Still,...

Avengers 5 was originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, the movie lost that shortly after Marvel Studios decided to take the focus off Kang the Conqueror (a reaction to Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania's mixed reviews and Jonathan Majors' firing).
While there have been some pretty reliable Doctor Doom rumours, a new actor is expected to play a Kang Variant who serves as the Multiverse Saga's main threat. Meanwhile, Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron is overhauling Avengers 5's script after Jeff Loveness first took a crack at it.
He was supposedly fired from the project shortly after the Ant-Man threequel flopped, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton left the movie to focus on Wonder Man and the Shang-Chi sequel.
Scooper @MyTimeToShineH has shared an update on Avengers 5 today, claiming that pre-production begins next month.

Avengers 5 Gets A Rumored Production Update; Story Said To Be "Grounded" Despite Multiverse Elements
Marvel Studios' next big MCU event will be Avengers 5 (FKA Avengers: The Kang Dynasty), and we may now have a pretty good idea of when production is scheduled to get underway.
A previous report claimed that filming was set to begin this December, but according to insider Daniel Richtman, cameras won't actually start rolling until January 2025 in the UK.
Despite Jonathan Majors' recent firing, Kang is still expected to appear, although we can't see the character playing nearly as big a role in the story. As we know, Loki writer Michael Waldron was hired to pen a new draft of the script, but reports indicate that the events of Loki season 2 are still going to inform the main plotline, which means Kang would likely remain on as a supporting character (at the very least).
We got word that Marvel/Disney had severed ties with Majors almost immediately after the...

It's now been over 5 years since Marvel Studios last released an Avengers movie. While Covid and last year's strikes have to take some of the blame, it's fair to say the McU's heroes should have re-assembled by now.
As we write this, Avengers 5 (previously titled The Kang Dynasty) is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on May 7, 2027.
With Disney CEO Bob Iger pushing for Marvel Studios to get back top quality over quantity, there are concerns that there's no longer enough time to effectively build to the stories which need to be told in those movies. Then, there's the fact the Multiverse Saga's new big bad, Kang, is reportedly being sidelined.

In the years since the release of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been struggling. Unimpressive box office performance and lukewarm critical and fan response have plagued the superhero franchise that used to be one of the most reliable in cinema. But who’s to blame?
It might be Rick and Morty.

MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.
Since the movie is a long time away from being released, there’s not much information about it except for the supposed release date, still we gathered all the rumors in one place and decided to present you with this neat guide.
‘Avengers: Secrets Wars’ is heavily rumored to reboot the current MCU
The sixth Avengers title draws inspiration from the ‘Secret Wars’ comic storylines released in 1984 and 2015, particularly the latter, which focused more on the multiverse. In the MCU, hints from Kang in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” suggest a similar multiversal conflict, mirroring the storyline where two universes clash,...

After producing the upcoming documentary “The Blue Angels,” J.J. Abrams and Glen Powell are in early talks to team up for a new movie, with Abrams eyeing Powell to star in his next directorial effort.
Deals have yet to close, but in the aftermath of “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Anyone but You,” no one’s career has been hotter than Powell’s, who continues to garner interest from big-name filmmakers and studios.
There’s no telling when this project would fit into Powell’s jam-packed production schedule. He’ll next be seen starring in Netflix’s “Hit Man,” which he also co-wrote with director Richard Linklater, but he’s also set to star in Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man” reboot for Paramount. That news was revealed at CinemaCon, where the actor also promoted Universal’s “Twisters” as a prospective summer blockbuster. Also in the works is “Chad Powers,” a...

While all the fans are waiting for more news, there’s one idea that can rectify arguably what was one of the MCU’s biggest mistakes in recent years, the apparent death of Scarlet Witch. Killing her off felt like a big mistake, but now with Secret Wars on the horizon, there’s a chance to fix things. This could be the shake-up the MCU needs to get back on track.

Of all the Marvel Studios movies coming up, the ‘Avengers’ series is the big one everyone’s buzzing about. With two new ‘Avengers’ flicks on the way, the fifth installment has had its fair share of drama lately.
Majors got the boot in December due to assault charges from his ex, and now, things are up in the air. The movie’s name switched from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avenger 5,’ and we’re not even sure if Kang’s still the bad guy.
Jeff Sneider dropped some new info, or maybe just rumors, on us. On his latest Hot Mic show, he said the studio’s hunting for a fresh director who’s never directed a Marvel flick before, showing they’re considering all options. He also says his sources claim that the movie’s set to kick off filming early next year.
The movie’s journey has been a rollercoaster.

Now Jeff Sneider has a round of news, or rather rumors, for us. In his latest appearance on the Hot Mic, Sneider claimed that the studio is looking for a new director that never directed a Marvel movie before, meaning they are open...

Michael Douglas had a request for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania: He wanted his character to die.
The Oscar-winning actor stopped by The View on Thursday to promote his new Apple TV+ series, Franklin. During the conversation, he was asked about his comments to The Hollywood Reporter about wanting his character in the Ant-Man franchise, Hank Pym, to be killed off in the third film.
“This actually was my request for the third one,” Douglas explained of his desire for his character to die. “I said I’d like to have a serious [death], with all these great special effects. There’s got to be some fantastic way where I can shrink to an ant size and explode, whatever it is.
He continued, “I want to use all those effects. But, that was on the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up.”

Heels has nailed its landing after Starz canceled the series in 2023. Netflix and Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution Group have agreed to a licensing agreement for the two seasons of critically-acclaimed drama from Mike O’Malley.
Deadline has learned there is an option for a third season, but that all depends on the availability of stars Stephen Amell, who booked the lead role in the Suits spinoff, and Alexander Ludwig, who’s toplining Earth Abides for MGM+. A spokesman for Lionsgate declined to comment.

The concept of the Multiverse, although introduced pretty early on in Phase 5 of the MCU, was properly and extensively explored in the 2022 MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where alternate realities and other dimensions were elaborated in details.
But with new avenues also came new problems in terms of tackling them, and screenwriter Michael Waldron caught a case of writer’s block when he had to kill Blackbolt in the film.
Benedict Cumberbatch in a still from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
But thankfully, filmmaker Sam Raimi was there to aid him with his quick and somewhat genius idea. When Waldron posed this problem to the director, he simply suggested he let Wanda take away his mouth since Blackbolt’s superpower was his voice. While it was pretty simple, it also took away from any major confrontation, which made it somewhat counterproductive for the fans to enjoy.

‘Loki’ Episode ‘Glorious Purpose’ Nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation Amongst Strong Contenders
Last year, Marvel Studios faced criticism and low box office numbers with two out of three major projects flopping both financially and critically. However, ‘Loki’ came back strong with its second season, earning praise from fans and critics alike as one of MCU’s best recent releases.
The show not only delivered an enjoyable experience but also wrapped up Loki’s character arc well while laying the groundwork for future Multiverse Saga developments. It’s no surprise that ‘Loki’ has garnered multiple award nominations, including this year’s Hugo Awards, known for honoring outstanding science fiction and fantasy works.

‘Loki’ Episode ‘Glorious Purpose’ Nominated for Best Dramatic Presentation Against Tough Competition
Marvel Studios faced fan backlash and record low-box office results last year, with 2 out of 3 major projects failing both when it comes to earnings and critical reception, but not all was bad. ‘Loki’ returned with the second season and the show was highly praised by fans and critics alike, being the best project that the MCU has released in recent time.
The show was not only extremely enjoyable and ended Loki’s character development on a high note, it also set up some pretty grand implications for the continuation of the Multiverse Saga. It’s no wonder then that the show has been nominated for several awards, including this year’s Hugo award. The Hugo Awards are prestigious awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements. Marvel Studios has a lineup of movies slated for release in the coming years. However, many of these projects faced delays or changes in release dates due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and various controversies and issues needing resolution. Among the most anticipated movies are continuations of the ‘Avengers’ franchise, which has been the subject of much discussion in recent months.

Dan Harmon has established a pretty neat little entertainment empire, creating the beloved cult hit "Community" before co-creating "Rick and Morty" and overseeing Apple TV+'s "Strange Planet" and Fox's "Krapopolis." But it's been a rocky road to success for Harmon, who was previously kicked off his own show before being rehired, and in 2018 had to publicly apologize for his prior mistreatment of "Community" writer Megan Ganz — and those are just a couple of examples of the man's controversies. Despite these debacles, however, Harmon has been an entertainment mainstay for well over a decade at this point, and during that time he's not only managed to create several of his own successful shows, but he's also apparently been fairly influential in perhaps the biggest Hollywood success story of the modern era: the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In the same way we wouldn't have "Rick and Morty" or "Community" without Dan Harmon,...

Exclusive: Ahead of the SXSW premiere of My Dead Friend Zoe, the buzzy, dark dramedy marking his feature debut, writer-director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes has signed with Grandview for management.
Set to premiere at the Austin, TX-based festival on Saturday March 9, My Dead Friend Zoe is based on Hausmann-Stokes’ real-life experiences, during his time in the army and afterwards, which he first examined in short film Merit x Zoe. Pic follows the journey of Merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), a U.S. Army Afghanistan veteran who is at odds with her family thanks to the presence of Zoe (Natalie Morales), her dead best friend from the army.
Hausmann-Stokes co-wrote, directed and produced the feature, also starring Ed Harris, Morgan Freeman, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Gloria Reuben and more, which marks the first executive producer credit for recent Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce as he looks to further expand his entertainment career.

If there’s one thing Americans like arguing about, it’s football. But this one isn’t about the Chiefs and the 49ers (or all of the Taylor Swift in between), but rather the Giants and…Top Gun? That’s right, one of the NFL’s most famous quarterbacks and the star of one of the highest-grossing films of the decade have clashed, prompting a brand new debate: Who handles a football better, Eli Manning or Glen Powell? But this one won’t be settled on the gridiron.
Glen Powell and Eli Manning had a humorous exchange soon after it was announced that the actor would be starring in an upcoming Hulu comedy series spawned from Manning’s own fictional undercover football wannabe. In his jab, Manning wrote, “I hope Glen is working on his Qb skills, I saw him throw a football in Maverick…he has some work to do!

Glen Powell is headed to Hulu to star in a new football series that he co-created.
Fresh off the success of his rom-com Anyone But You, the 35-year-old actor is putting together the show, titled Chad Powers.
If it sounds familiar, that’s because it’s inspired by an old skit that NFL star Eli Manning filmed!

Chad Powers pulls inspiration from a plot on the Esnp+ series Eli’s Places. In one episode, Eli portrayed an alter ego named Chad who went back to college to play football at Penn State.
Glen is creating the new series, which has been compared to Ted Lasso, alongside Michael Waldron. They co-wrote the pilot and are acting as executive producers alongside Eli and his brother Peyton.
“We’re both diehard college football fans,” the collaborators said in a statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
