August theatrical releases were a bit sparse, but “Partner Track,” “Lost Ollie” and seven other book-based projects found their way onto streamers last month, including HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon.” September has more theatrical releases, but fewer book adaptations to look forward to. Those that are coming out this month have rich history though, especially “The Rings of Power” series that Amazon has based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books and appendices.
There’s also “The Silent Twins” starring Letitia Wright and Jodhi May as well as Andrew Dominik’s feature film “Blonde” adapted from Joyce Carol Oates’ book about the career of Marilyn Monroe.
Here are six book to screen adaptations coming out in September:

Kim Kardashian is a firm believer in second chances. In the trailer for Hillary and Chelsea Clinton‘s new docuseries, “Gutsy”, Kim talks about her work within the criminal justice system and why she so strongly believes in second chances.
“To throw someone’s life away when people really do make changes…I just believe in second chances,” Kim, who was caught by cameras in January filming the series, tells Hillary and Chelsea.
In photos taken at the time, the trio was seen at the Hot & Cool Cafe in Canoga Park, California, where they were joined by a camera crew.
Unlike Kim’s trip to the White House, her meeting with Hillary and Chelsea was a bit more casual, with the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum rocking a shiny black trench coat, lime green thigh-high boots and a pair of black sunglasses. Kim paired her outfit with black leather...

Hillary Clinton and her daughter Chelsea are hitting the road in their new docuseries “Gutsy,” talking to inspiring women and trying bold new activities along the way. In the first trailer for the series, we see the former women of the White House rappelling over waterfalls, putting out fires — and bowling with Wanda Sykes.
According to Apple TV+, the series “shows Hillary and Chelsea as you’ve never seen them before, revealing their special mother-daughter bond and the unique, multi-generational way they approach the important and timely issues highlighted in each episode.” Those issues are raised as part of “a thought-provoking journey to speak with pioneering women artists, activists, community leaders and everyday heroes who show us what it truly means to be gutsy.”
We see a few of those famous faces in the footage, including Kate Hudson and her mom Goldie Hawn, Kim Kardashian and more. But, the series isn’t limited to actors.

It’s the last week of Pride, and I’m in a production office in Toronto, and Roe v. Wade has just been annihilated. I’ve been reading and texting and talking about it, but there is this strange separation being out of the country while this unfolds. Like you’re watching it, but it’s not really happening. It feels both distant and close.
Even though we’re all in the same building, we still do all of our production meetings on Zoom. Each of us in our own office. Talking to faces in boxes. Another weird separation. We’re simultaneously together and isolated. Distant and close.
Last summer I found myself in my first virtual writers room. And I was anxious. Because I was about to share something with people I had never met in person. I was about to come out over Zoom.

Jennifer Nettles channels the dueling pain and beauty of womanhood in her moving new solo track “I Can Do Hard Things,” which she introduced today with a short essay.
Accompanied only by some understated guitars and drums, “I Can Do Hard Things” finds its fulcrum on the powerhouse Sugarland singer’s vocal, which is tough and gentle in equal turns. She ponders the apparent absolutes of life which, over time and especially through motherhood, she has come to see soften and blur, containing within them the sheer vastness of life.
