Lance Reddick’s unexpected death in March 2023 halted a thriving acting career that consisted of many memorable performances, including several voice-over gigs on TV series like “Castlevania,” “Duck Tales” and “Rick and Morty.” In addition to half a dozen mid-production projects, his legacy could include a posthumous Emmy victory in honor of his vocal work on the Amazon Prime Video animated series “The Legend of Vox Machina.” After Chadwick Boseman, who won the 2022 Best Character Voice-Over prize for “What If…?” two years after his death, Reddick would be the second posthumous recipient of any voice acting Emmy.
Reddick joined the recurring cast of “The Legend of Vox Machina” in its second season, which concluded less than a month before he died. His character, Thordak, is the leader of a group of dragons known as the Chroma Conclave, whose destructive plans are encumbered by the heroic, interspecific members of Vox Machina.

Pulp kicked off their long-awaited 2023 “This is What We Do For an Encore Tour” at the Bridlington Spa in Bridlington, England on May 26th. The newly-reunited Britpop icons played a set full of fan favorites and deep cuts, marking their first show in a decade: “We are Pulp — I’ve not said that for quite a long time,” vocalist Jarvis Cocker greeted the packed crowd.
Cocker and company tore through the majority of their 1995 masterpiece Different Class, opening with “I Spy” and saving their smash “Common People” until their first of two encores. The set also included some highlights from 1994’s His N Hers like “Do You Remember the First Time?” and “Babies”; deeper cuts like “Weeds” and “Glory Days”; and their 2013 single “After You.”
“An encore happens when the crowd makes enough noise to bring the band back to the stage,” the band said in a statement announcing the reunion last October.

What do the 76th annual Tonys have in common with the 17th annual awards?
Stephen Sondheim.
The late, great influential composer is represented in this year’s Tonys with the acclaimed, popular revivals of his 1979 classic “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Street” earning eight nominations and 1987’s “Into the Woods” receiving six.
Sixty years ago, it was Sondheim’s musical comedy “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” which dominated the Tony Awards with six wins: best musical, best producer for Harold Prince, best director for George Abbott, best author for Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, leading actor for Zero Mostel and featured actor for David Burns. Ironically, Sondheim failed to earn a nomination for best original score (music and/or lyrics) written for the theater. He would not win for his tunes until “Company” in 1971. Vying in that category were “Stop the World I Wanted...
