Fox has named John Hesling its new head of Alternative Entertainment, the broadcast network’s in-house unscripted studio.
Responsible for overseeing the development and production of all unscripted series owned by Fox Entertainment (Fae), as well as programs Fae produces for third-party buyers in the U.S. and abroad, Hesling will be based in Los Angeles. Those titles include “The Masked Singer,” “Next Level Chef,” “I Can See Your Voice,” “Crime Scene Kitchen,” “Alter Ego,” “Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer,” “Domino Masters” and “Name that Tune,” among others.
Hesling will report to Allison Wallach, the recently named president of unscripted programming, who took over for Rob Wade following his promotion to Fox Entertainment CEO.

Larry Barron, a veteran unscripted producer and executive, passed away suddenly on December 24. He was believed to be 55.
Barron co-created and executive produced alongside Mark Burnett, Ben Newmark and Dan Newmark the 2016 Fox reality series Coupled. He co-created and exec produced with Bill Diggins and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas the 2010 VH1 unscripted series What Cilli Wants, starring Thomas, and also co-created/executive produced the Gsn shows Idiotest and Emogenius. What Chilli Wants stems from Barron’s four-year stint as SVP at FremanteMedia.
In 2002-03, Barron served as a producer on CBS’ The Amazing Race, a co-executive producer on Fox’s Paradise Hotel and a consultant on Upn’s America’s Top Model. He then segued to the executive ranks as VP of alternative programs for Upn, overseeing development and day-to-day production of reality series for the network.

Veteran cable exec Sara Auspitz has joined E! as senior vice president of current programming. In her new role, Auspitz will oversee all current unscripted series for the NBCUniversal-owned cable channel.
In a message to staff Monday announcing the hire, Amy Introcaso-Davis, executive vice president of development and production for E!, wrote of Auspitz, “She is a seasoned creative executive and a lot of fun to work with.”
Auspitz most recently served as head of current for Gsn, where she worked with Introcaso-Davis. Her hire comes nearly a year after Introcaso-Davis joined E! as programming chief.

E!’s Evp, Development & Production Amy Introcaso-Davis continues to build her senior executive team. Introcaso-Davis, who was head of programming at Gsn before joining E! last fall, has recruited her former VP and head of current at Gsn, Sara Auspitz, as Svp, Current for E!.
Auspitz’s hire is part of the reorganization announced by Introcaso-Davis last spring that involves the splitting up of the Development and Current operations. As part of that, the network promoted two development executives, including Leela Pon to Svp, Development, who will be Auspitz’s counterpart as head of development. Around the same time, Damla Dogan, E!’s Svp Development & Programming, who worked on both development and current for select shows, departed the company.
