Derek Hough continues his reign as one of the lords of the dance, scoring three nominations for the just-unveiled World Choreography Awards (sister Julianne Hough also makes a showing this year).
His nominations include ABC’s “Step Into…the Movies” special as well as their long-running “Dancing with the Stars,” and also Hough’s work on the music video for Michael Bublé’s “Higher.” However, married choreographers Phillip and Makenzie Chbeeb, also scored three noms each, including one with Hough for the “Higher” video, as well as for the “Zed Ramadan” TV commercial and ABC’s recent “Beauty and The Beast” anniversary special.
Jamal Sims, nominated for three Emmys this year in the choreography categories for his various projects—including Paramount+’s “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies“—garnered two nods, including his work on Netflix’s “13 the Musical” and the live “Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl.”

Psycho Goreman is one of those movies that I was about 90% sure I was going to love even though all I knew about it was its title and a handful of images I had seen online. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed.
The story is as ridiculous as it should be for a film titled Psycho Goreman. We see siblings Mimi and Luke “unwittingly resurrect an ancient alien overlord who was entombed on Earth millions of years ago after a failed attempt to destroy the universe. They nickname the evil creature Psycho Goreman (or PG for short)and use the magical amulet they discovered to force him to obey their childish whims.” And if that doesn’t sell you on...

Action films have obviously been around forever but there’s a certain type of action film that has clearly influenced Contracts and its creators. Before John Wick in 2014, action films lacked originality and the explosiveness that that franchise has provided and has now influenced a whole host of filmmakers since. It’s fair to see that their are plenty of action flicks that just wouldn’t have seen the light of day if it wasn’t for John Wick’s success but to do something similar, on a very small budget, is a very hard thing to do. But that is exactly what Contracts tries to do.

"You want to quit? Then quit!!" IndieCan Ent. has debuted an official trailer for a Canadian action martial arts film titled Contracts, marking the feature directorial debut of stuntman Alex Chung (who also co-stars in the film). This won Best Action Film & Best Fight Scene at last year's Toronto After Dark Film Festival, which means it's at least worth watching for the fights. Originally, this film began as just a short, being a prequel to one of the director's previous works, intended to be the third of a trilogy. After most of the film was shot, however, some feedback suggested turning it into a feature which led to several more years of both re-shoots and new scenes being added to meet the minimum run time. Starring Alex Chung, Jermaine Carty, Christena Gaunce, Dan Sanderson, Michael Carter, Kyle Stewart, Neil Bishop, & Giulio Calisse. It seems like there's not much of a story here,...

We were a tad disappointed when Alex Chung's martial arts action flick Contracts promptly disappeared after its premiere at Toronto After Dark last year. Heading back to the drawing board for some reworking we had all but forgotten about it after it went to AFM for international sales last November. Shortly after that the World began to fall like dominos to the plague and near a year later here we are. News today that Contracts will be released on DVD and VOD across North America on November 10th, from our friends at Indiecan Entertainment. We have both the greenband and redband trailers for your viewing pleasure below. For an indie production it looks pretty good. The choreography looks tight and the hints of...

Our apologies to our friends at Indiecan Entertainment for falling asleep on this announcement. At the beginning of the month, not too long after its World Premiere at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival, Alex Chung's Canadian action indie flick Contracts was picked up for sales by Indiecan Entertainment and Apl Film. Indiecan will rep Contracts here in Canada and the U.S. Apl Film will handle international sales and started repping the film at Afm earlier this month.
