CBS‘ newest unscripted musical series is kicking off with a face familiar to the network’s fans: someone who starred on one of its dramas for 14 seasons! LL Cool J, who played Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles (and will reprise his role in a recurring capacity on NCIS: Hawai’i) is the first artist to feature on Superfan, and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek at the August 9 premiere. The series, hosted by Nate Burleson and Keltie Knight, features contestants vying in multiple rounds of play to prove they are their favorite artist’s most devoted supporter. In each one-hour episode, a different musical artist will select one deserving superfan to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize. Burleson tells the five people competing in LL Cool J’s episode to listen as the song begins playing, and it’s Kim who rings in with the correct guess of “Going Back to Cali.

As the big broadcast networks start to air their summer slate, it’s worth taking a look back on this last year of television. Every network likes to manipulate the math so they can claim they’re the best, especially during upfronts week. But what happens when you level the playing field?
Using the end-of-season ratings for each eligible show, TheWrap determined which network truly won primetime during the 2022-2023 season. A couple of notes on methodology: These numbers only took into account live-plus-same day viewing numbers for series that aired between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and don’t include ratings from sporting events or local programming. They also only look at a very limited timeframe, beginning with the first network premiere of the season and ending with the last episode of a major primetime show

NCIS: Los Angeles aired its final episode on May 21. One day later, fans learned that would not be the last time they saw at least one of their favorite characters. LL Cool J reprised his role as Sam Hanna in the NCIS: Hawai’i Season 2 finale, to help out Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) in Caracas. Though he offered further assistance, Tennant insisted she’d be Ok. Immediately after the episode aired, CBS announced that LL Cool J will be recurring in Season 3. But even before that, we couldn’t help but wonder if we’d see any of the LA characters again, especially since members of the three teams — in D.C. (NCIS) and Hawai’i — teamed up earlier in the 2022-2023 season. There are the other shows. There’s the possibility of a revival of some sort, especially given what’s happened with other shows.

The season two finale of NCIS: Hawai’i introduced — or rather, reintroduced — a character who will join the cast next season.
In the episode, Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) find themselves under attack in Venezuela — until an unseen ally comes to their aid. Jane’s phone rings, and a very familiar voice is on the other end: Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), last seen in the Moroccan desert in the series finale of NCIS: Los Angeles on Sunday night.
After Tennant thanks him for the overwatch, Hanna says he was “in the neighborhood” and thought he could lend a hand. “You just happened to be in Venezuela?” she asks.
“Morocco, actually, but hey — what’s a few borders and an ocean, anyway?” he replies.

“NCIS: Los Angeles” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill’s goal with the series finale on Sunday, May 21 was to give the characters of the long-running CBS procedural as happy an ending as possible.
“It really was about trying to find a way to wrap up the series that would leave the fans feeling hopeful for the future of all our characters. And so we gave everyone what we figured was their version of happily ever after… at least for the time being,” he told TheWrap in a recent interview.
To that end, in the final episode, Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Anna (Bar Paly) tie the knot in an impromptu ceremony attended by the rest of the team — except for Hetty (Linda Hunt), who sends a congratulatory note.

It was back in May 2009 that viewers first met the Office of Special Projects, as part of a backdoor pilot on NCIS. That September, NCIS: Los Angeles premiered, and 14 years later, it’s saying goodbye after a fantastic run of cases, family, and, of course, explosions. Ahead of the official NCIS: LA sign-off, TV Insider chatted with cast members to hear about their favorite memories and get their thoughts on their characters’ endings. Next up, ahead of the series finale on May 21, is the man who plays Sam Hanna, LL Cool J. What is your favorite moment from NCIS: LA that is really representative of your character? LL Cool J: In the series premiere, when I walked into the bullpen with my arms outstretched, like I was flying a plane and we were taking off. Paul Simon and LL Cool J are successful artists in their respective music genres. While Simon is a folk-rock legend, LL is a hip-hop icon. In the decades since emerging on the scene, each has built an impressive discography. But the two musicians famously hung out on one unforgettable day in 1987. Here’s a look at how their unlikely visit came about and how the folk-rocker shocked the rapper.

LL Cool J and Simon are two of the most influential musicians. Both have long and storied careers, but their approaches to music-making are very different. Simon is famous for his folky, laid-back sound, while LL Cool J is known for his hard-hitting rap lyrics. The former’s style is subtler and more introspective, while the latter’s is more aggressive and direct.

A retrospective of “NCIS: Los Angeles”‘s 14 seasons will air after the series finale on Sunday, May 21 on CBS, the network announced on Friday. The special, which will be hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier, will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
Showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill thanked the network for giving him “an extra episode” to wrap up the show, which debuted on Sept. 22, 2009.
“Wrapping up a series is always bittersweet. We were blessed to have 14 seasons together, so bringing it to a satisfying end was extremely challenging after so many years. Fortunately, CBS was gracious enough to give us an extra episode in order to send off our characters in a way befitting their stories that hopefully the fans find both satisfying and hopeful,” Gemmill said.

For the first time ever, there’s an NCISverse crossover event on CBS, and of course it’s a major case to bring the three teams of NCIS, Los Angeles, and Hawai’i together. “Whatever we stepped into, it’s big,” LA‘s Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) remarks in the full trailer for the event. Daniela Ruah has enjoyed playing Kensi Blye, the most enduring female agent in the popular NCIS franchise.
NCIS: Los Angeles returns for its 14th season at 10 p.m. Sunday on CBS, and Ruah has been there from the beginning, as have LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell as partners Sam Hanna and G Callen.
In this exclusive interview with TV Fanatic, when she calls from her home base of, not surprisingly, Los Angeles, Ruah admits she feels a kinship to Kensi.
"That's like asking what is your favorite part about playing yourself because that's how close I am to Kensi at this point," she says. "She is me, except I don't catch bad guys for a living."
Try harder, Daniela.
The floodgates open: "I love her spontaneity. I love her sense of humor. I love her relationships with all the other characters, especially her relationship with her husband, Deeks. I...

It’s finally happening: a three-show NCIS crossover. Unlike other shared universes (namely One Chicago and Law & Order) that have had massive events across multiple series, the NCIS shows have stuck to smaller ones, with the occasional two-hour ones. But now, the NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and NCIS: Hawai’i teams will be working one case together for a crossover set to air in January, according to EW. Production has started on the event. There aren’t many details out just yet. What we do know is that the actors participating in the event include: NCIS‘ Gary Cole (Alden Parker), Wilmer Valderrama (Nick Torres), and Brian Dietzen (Dr. Jimmy Palmer); NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Chris O’Donnell (G. Callen) and LL Cool J (Sam Hanna); and NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Vanessa Lachey (Jane Tennant), Yasmine Al-Bustami (Lucy Tara), and Noah Mills (Jesse Boone). And as for what brings them together,...

NCIS: Los Angeles is starting to release information for Season 14, which now includes the episode synopsis for premiere night.
It’s still going to be a while until the season premiere arrives, though, as CBS has delayed it until Sunday, October 9.
And for any fans who haven’t heard yet, NCIS: LA has been moved back to 10/9c on Sunday nights, meaning viewers will have to stay up a little later to watch the episodes live.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14, Episode 1 is called Game of Drones, and it’s hard not to think it might have something to do with an important storyline presented late in Season 13.
Last year, the team had to deal with drones that were operating with the help of artificial intelligence, making them particularly difficult to deal with.
