Here's a new project announcements that just gets better and better as it goes on: Laura Dern and Margaret Qualley are set to star in an A24-produced Netflix limited series adaptation of Daisy Jones & The Six author Taylor Jenkins Reid's Forever, Interrupted, with Yellowjackets co-producer/writer Julia Bicknell attached as writer-showrunner. That's quite the team-up.
As reported by Deadline, the series will be a tender tale of love and loss told across dual timelines. Forever, Interrupted centres around Elsie (Qualley), whose whirlwind romance with lover Ben is cut cruelly short when, just nine days after having gotten married and found their happily ever after, Ben unexpectedly dies. In the aftermath of her husband's passing, Elsie finds herself coming face-to-face with her mother-in-law Susan (Dern), who doesn't even know she exists. As the narrative unfolds, recollecting Elsie and Ben's meeting in the past and Elsie and Susan's frosty-yet-soon-thawing relationship in the present,...

Qualley will star as Elsie, who embarks on a whirlwind romance that leads to a supposedly idyllic marriage after just a few months. But when her husband unexpectedly dies, her path crosses with that of his mother Susan (Dern), who had no idea she even existed.

The cast of Daisy Jones & The Six were set to take the stage once again according to series star Suki Waterhouse.
Waterhouse shared in a YouTube vlog on Thursday from the 2023 Lollapalooza festival that she along with the cast, which also included Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon and Will Harrison, were supposed to perform at the Chicago-based music festival last summer.
“That whole thing was planned, we got people visas, like, it was an operation. And then the SAG strike happened, so we all decided that we should not perform at Lollapalooza,” the actress and singer recalled. Amid the strike, guidelines stated that the union’s affected members would be prohibited from all principal on-camera work — including acting, singing, dancing and stunts — on top of off-camera work, such as voice-acting and narration. All promotional activity such as interviews, award shows and podcasts were also not allowed by union members at the time.

This year’s Oscars were as much a celebration of books as they were cinema. Five of the 10 best picture nominees were based on books, and three of those – “Oppenheimer,” “Poor Things” and “The Zone of Interest” – took home the most statues overall. Even the winner for best animated picture, Hayao Miyazaki’s “The Boy and the Heron,” was loosely inspired by a 1937 novel Miyazaki had read as a child.

The USC Libraries announced the winners for the 36th annual USC Libraries Scripter Award, which honors the year’s best film and television adaptations, as well as the works on which they are based. For the second year in a row, “Slow Horses” took home the prize for episodic series; Cord Jefferson won the 2024 award for film adaptation; both he and the author of the novel he adapted, Percival Everett, were in attendance. Jefferson thanked Everett for trusting him with his 2001 novel, which he felt was written just for him. “He has managed to mine my novel for the material he needed to make this film,” said Everett, who teaches at USC. “And then I sat back and did nothing. So good job. Thank you.”

Sam Claflin Is ‘100%’ Open to Returning to ‘The Hunger Games’: ‘I Would Be All in for Finnick’s Dad’
Sam Claflin told Variety that he would be “100%” open to returning to “The Hunger Games” franchise.

The actor did add, however, “I’ve heard rumors that people are asking for a Finnick prequel, and all I’m gonna say is that I would be all in for Finnick’s dad.”

Jessica Chastain is divorcing herself from any lingering hopes for her potential involvement in an adaptation of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
During an interview with E! Chastain had previously said that she would be open to landing a role in light of fan-generated campaigns for her to play character Celia St. James in the film adaptation that has been in development at Netflix.

“I love how excited the fans are,” Chastain told E! News in a recent interview. “When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they’d be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is.”
Fans campaigned on social media for Chastain to play Celia St.

There’s something almost mythical about the great bands of the ’70s. The era had just the right mix of freedom, turmoil, changing mores, and freely available drugs to power some truly epic albums (and behavior). But because there is such a collective sense of what a rock band romance looks like in real life, it’s pretty tricky to write one that feels fresh and new within the context of the time — and the history of Fleetwood Mac.
But “Daisy Jones and the Six” — adapted from Taylor Reid Jenkins’ novel — not only adapts to its setting but thrives within it. This is in no small part due to the Prime Video series committing to the most organic approach possible to music and the time period. Titular frontwoman Daisy (Riley Keough), troubled lead guitarist Billy (Sam Claflin), and the rest of the Six needed to feel like a band, so...

A television adaptation of Lucy Foley’s best-selling novel “The Guest List” is in development at Hulu from “Little Fires Everywhere” and “Tiny Beautiful Things” creator Liz Tigelaar.
“On a remote island off a rugged coast, guests attend a dazzling celebrity wedding. But with a storm brewing, the picture perfect affair darkens as the guests and their shared histories dangerously collide — and then the lights go out. And a body is found,” the logline states. “As old secrets are brought to the surface, and the mysteries swirl — the question remains, who among these people deserved to die? And who had something to kill for?”
Tigelaar, who will serve as the eight-to-10 episode limited series’ writer and showrunner, will executive produce alongside Foley, Stacey Silverman and Best Day Ever Productions.
Tigelaar, Silverman and Best Day Ever are currently under an overall deal at ABC Signature, with several projects in development.

Liz Tigelaar is readying her next Hulu series.
The showrunner of Little Fires Everywhere and Tiny Beautiful Things is developing a limited series based on Lucy Foley’s best-seller, The Guest List, which Hulu won the rights to in what proved another wild bidding war. The news comes as the broader IP market has only grown frothier amid the dual Hollywood strikes, which ground production to a halt and left the industry with little else to sell.
The TV iteration, like Foley’s 2020 book, will be set on a remote island off a rugged coast, where guests attend an elaborate celebrity wedding. “But with a storm brewing, the picture-perfect affair darkens as the guests and their shared histories dangerously collide — and then the lights go out. Netflix announced in March 2022 that it's producing a movie version of the bestselling novel "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The book, released in 2017, became a major bestseller, thanks in part to amazing word of mouth on social media. On June 29, the streamer announced that "Russian Doll" co-creator Leslye Headland will direct the film with Liz Tigelaar handling the script, so it seemed like a casting announcement was surely imminent.
However, there still isn't an official cast, so we have a lot of ideas about who we'd like to see star as the titular lead and her seven husbands.
As readers know, in the book, Evelyn Hugo, now 79, asks magazine writer Monique Grant to help her write her life story. Monique is suspicious as to why a famous actor wants to work with her, but she agrees to listen. Evelyn recounts her life, from growing up...

Stevie Nicks is elaborating on why Prime Video hit Daisy Jones & The Six had her feeling “like a ghost watching my own story.”
In a new interview with Vulture, the Fleetwood Mac singer discussed how the show’s stars Riley Keough and Sam Claflin captured the essence of her creative relationship with fellow Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham. The interview follows Nicks tweeting her response to the show, which was adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel, while watching the series back in August. Reid has previously said that she pulled from several ’70s bands for inspiration, including Fleetwood Mac.
While discussing the eerie similarities between her own life and what she was seeing onscreen, Nicks pointed to one specific element of Keough and Claflin’s dynamic as the biggest reason why she saw herself in their relationship.

Exclusive: Jane Featherstone and Liz Murdoch’s Sister saw revenues skyrocket by $100M last year, although the This is Going to Hurt and Chernobyl producer failed again to turn a profit.
The transatlantic outfit’s turnover grew by a mammoth 273% to $134M for full-year 2022, according to a Companies House filing seen by Deadline, as the outfit shook off the shackles of the Covid-19 pandemic and delivered a number of high-profile projects. The vast majority of the revenue came from TV shows.
Sister’s filing pointed to “the realisation of a pipeline of projects and recovery from the delays to the production schedule of programmes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic” as a driver of revenue growth. Big shows delivered in the year included BAFTA-winning BBC drama This is Going to Hurt, The Split Season 3 and HBO/Sky’s The Baby.

In spite of the fact that “American Crime Story” won the Best Limited Series Emmy twice, its third iteration (“Impeachment”) missed out on a nomination last year, and two other Ryan Murphy productions (“American Horror Story” and “Feud”) have failed in their attempts to conquer the category. Naturally, the vast majority of Gold Derby’s thousands of Emmy predictors expect Murphy’s “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” to falter in this year’s race and are instead backing “Beef,” which, like its strongest challenger, would follow “The Queen’s Gambit” (2021) as the second Netflix series to achieve this top honor.
Also included in the current Best Limited Series lineup are “Daisy Jones & the Six” (Prime Video) and “Fleishman is in Trouble” (FX), both of which were adapted from 2019 novels of the same titles. In the final slot is “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” which joins continuing dramas “The Mandalorian” (2020-2021) and “Andor...

This story about Riley Keough first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama and Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine. The interview was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began.
The beginning of 2021 was a rough time for Riley Keough. A few years removed from her breakthrough roles in Andrea Arnold’s film “American Honey” and Steven Soderbergh’s series “The Girlfriend Experience,” she was about to codirect her first film, “War Pony,” with Gina Gammell, and she had a starring role as a ’70s rock star in “Daisy Jones & the Six,” the hotly anticipated limited series adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s hit novel.
But her struggle with Lyme disease was getting particularly rough, and she was also reeling from the summer 2020 death of her younger brother, Benjamin.

The music came first. Before actors were hired and before directors and designers and crew members came on board, “Daisy Jones & the Six,” the limited series from Amazon’s Prime Video, hired music supervisor Frankie Pine, who brought in a list of music producers that included songwriter-producer Blake Mills. When Kim Davis-Wagner and Justine Arteta signed on to cast the television adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s blockbuster rock ’n’ roll novel Daisy Jones & The Six, they knew they were up against the pressure of re-creating the magic of a beloved piece of IP — but they were also up against A Star Is Born. The Lady Gaga-starring musical drama hit theaters in 2018, and the industry was still captivated with the idea of seeing pop stars on the big screen. “The thinking was, there have to be other musicians [like Lady Gaga] who could be that good at acting,” says Arteta. “We knew that was possible, but really rare.”
Instead, the duo — who have been working together for over 30 years, getting their start in music videos before cutting their teeth on features like Never Been Kissed and Being John Malkovich — followed their instincts straight to Riley Keough. The actress (who is...

For Daisy Jones & The Six showrunner Scott Neustadter, the biggest challenge in adapting Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book about a fictional band was when he’d marry its two components: singer-songwriter Daisy Jones, played by Riley Keough, and The Six, a group fronted by addict and rocker Billy (Sam Claflin). The drama hinged on the two characters sharing as much screen time as possible, but the source material demanded they stay apart for nearly three whole episodes. As a sort of compromise, Neustadter explains, Amazon adopted an unconventional rollout to lure viewers and, as it turns out, TV Academy voters.

We talked about that at length. As the show unfolds, so do these songs, so we knew there were movements — like classical music.

Earlier this year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable. And now Nicks has taken to social media to share what she thought of the Prime series. In short, she loved it!

Fronted by two heat seeking missiles in Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out...

Novel-turned-Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six is about a fictional 1970s rock band, but anyone familiar with music history could guess the musical drama is based on the tumultuous career of Fleetwood Mac. Even Stevie Nicks agrees, as she has now given the show her stamp of approval.

Stevie Nicks is sharing her praise for Daisy Jones & The Six, months after the Emmy-nominated series premiered.
Though author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who wrote the book that the Prime Video series was adapted from, has previously said the novel is not strictly based on Fleetwood Mac, she has admitted that she drew inspiration from the renowned rock band. During an interview with Penguin Books UK in 2019, Reid said she “started with the germ of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac,” but also researched many other ‘70s singers and bands.
Even before the show’s release, fans have been quick to point out parallels between Fleetwood Mac and Daisy Jones & The Six, including each of the band’s members and romantic pairings. Particularly, similarities were noted between Nicks and Daisy Jones (Riley Keough), as well as keyboardist Christine McVie and Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse). Now, Nicks has taken to...

Singer Stevie Nicks said that rewatching “Daisy Jones & the Six,” which is set in the Los Angeles music scene of the 1970s, was “very emotional” and that she wished her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie, who died in November 2022, could have seen it.
Nicks also said she wants another season of the show.
The Prime Video series stars Riley Keough as singer/songwriter Daisy Jones, and the 75-year-old singer said that she saw herself in the character.
“Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story,” Nicks wrote on Instagram and Twitter on Tuesday.

When executive producer Lauren Neudstadter heard “Daisy Jones and the Six” had received a 2023 Emmy nomination for Best Limited Series – one of nine the Amazon Prime Video series scored last month – she says it was an “unbelievable moment.”
“I feel like it’s the song ‘Look at Us Now,’” Neustadter tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview, referencing one of the show’s fictional band’s biggest hits. “When you talk about dreams come true – to get to share that with my husband, it was an absolute dream come true.”
Neustadter, who serves as film and television president for production company Hello Sunshine is married to “Daisy Jones” co-creator and Oscar nominee Scott Neudstadter. It was Scott who first read the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel on which “Daisy Jones and the Six” is based and told his wife about the project. Lauren quickly devoured the book too, she remembers...

After its $2 billion-plus agreement to sell Simon & Schuster fell apart last October, Paramount Global has found a new buyer for the book publishing giant at a slightly discounted all-cash price point of $1.62 billion.
Private equity firm Kkr has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Simon & Schuster, the companies said August 7. In opting to sell to a buyer not affiliated with the “Big Five” group of publishers — which includes prior suitor Penguin Random House along with HarperCollins, Hachette Book Group and Macmillan — Paramount appears to think this is the deal that can finally clear regulatory approval.
“We see a compelling opportunity to help Simon & Schuster become an even stronger partner to literary talent by investing in the expansion of the company’s capabilities and distribution networks,” stated Richard Sarnoff, chairman of media at Kkr.
Paramount CEO Bob Bakish added, “The proceeds will give Paramount additional financial flexibility...

While the fictional band Daisy Jones and the Six take the stage inside a sold-out Soldier Field in Chicago for what will be their final show, the “Daisy Jones and the Six” series actors and production team were hundreds of miles away from the Windy City. For the big concert in the Emmy-nominated show’s finale, the Amazon Prime Video series shot scenes in New Orleans – and used Tad Gormley Stadium as a stand-in for the famed home of the Chicago Bears.
“A lot of times when they were performing and the cameras were pointing right at the actors, they were playing to an empty stadium,” Chris Welcker, the “Daisy Jones” production mixer, tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview. “It was just the crew standing out there, the electricians and stuff, and our music supervisor and producer. But then, of course, we had the moments where we turn...
