One of Westwood’s historic movie theaters will soon have new ownership.
Filmmaker Jason Reitman is leading an unnamed group of investors in purchasing the art deco Fox Village Theater, located at 945 Broxton Ave. The news, first reported by The Ankler’s Peter Kiefer, was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Per the initial report, Reitman and crew are “weeks away” from taking over the property in a deal that is currently in escrow.
Last summer, reports surfaced that the landmarked Fox Village was up for grabs for a $12 million sum, listed by Newmark’s Capital Markets group, which promoted the theater as an “iconic property” and “one of the most identifiable, landmark properties in Los Angeles.” The listing also stated that the 24,099-square-foot building, which houses 1,375 seats inside the theater, had not previously been up for sale.

Charles Osgood, the genial radio and television commentator who anchored CBS Sunday Morning for more than two decades, died Tuesday. He was 91.
Osgood, who also was heard on the radio for more than 50 years with CBS’ The Osgood File, died at his home in New Jersey of dementia, the network announced.
The low-key Bronx native took over CBS’ Sunday program from Charles Kuralt in 1994 and retired in September 2016 as its longest-running host. After handing over the reins to Jane Pauley, he continued to broadcast The Osgood File and contribute stories to CBS News.
In December 2017, Osgood and Westwood One announced an extension to keep The Osgood File going, but he changed course just 15 days later.

On Christmas Eve, a Friends fan discovered an easter egg in the episode of the beloved sitcom where Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) show Joey (Matt LeBlanc) around their new house, and it includes a surprising connection to a holiday movie classic. Instagram user Scott Westwood shared a clip of the Season 10 episode, “The One with Princess Consuela,” in which Monica and Chandler invite Joey to come and visit their new home in upstate New York. But Westwood noticed something familiar… the house looks just like the McAllister’s mansion from Home Alone! Westwood delivers a forensic investigation of the footage, using clips from both Friends and the 1990 comedy film and pointing out the similarities. Zooming in on shots through the windows, Westwood highlights the same garage on the neighbor’s property and the same wreath hanging from another neighbor’s front door. View this post on Instagram...

Having publicly hoped earlier this year that Danny Masterson would be found “innocent” of rape charges in his retrial, Ashton Kutcher also sought to convince the judge in his That 70s Show co-star’s case of what a great guy the defendant is.
“Not only is he a good friend to me I’ve witnessed him be a good friend to others and the kind of brother others would be lucky to have,” Kutcher wrote Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo late last month as Masterson awaited sentencing on being found guilty of two counts of rape this spring. “As a role model, Danny has consistently been an excellent one. I attribute not falling into the typical Hollywood life of drugs directly to Danny,” Kutcher said as one of many high profile names like Mila Kunis advocating on Masterson’s behalf.
On September 7, 47-year-old Masterson was sentenced to 30 years behind bars by Judge Olmedo.

Opening in March 2022, the production has sold over 200,000 tickets. By the time it closes, the show will be the longest running mask show that the company has presented in London.
Over 600 people have worked on the show, making it the largest project in Punchdrunk’s history. The epic retelling of the end of the Trojan war, set between the neon-drenched backstreets of downtown Troy and the menacing but opulent shadow of Greece, is played out across two vast warehouse buildings. “Imbalances of power are dangerous and we care about them,” BBC Director General Tim Davie said today, as he was questioned on the Phillip Schofield debate and accusations of toxicity on This Morning.
Speaking to the influential Culture, Media & Sport Committee (Cmsc), Davie acknowledged there are “imbalances” in the “strange TV industry, where you have people earning talent salaries verses producer salaries.”
“Your concerns are well placed,” he told Committee Chair Caroline Dinenage. “Imbalances of power are dangerous and we care about them. Culturally I am very direct about that not being something I want to see at this organization.”

A new 24-hour phone line has been opened by the independent review team examining the BBC’s response to concerns about DJ Tim Westwood’s conduct.
The team, overseen by Gemma White Kc, have said they are keen to hear from Black women.
White was appointed in August 2022, after an internal BBC report into sexual misconduct allegations against the former Radio 1 DJ found that the corporation may have failed to properly investigate concerns raised about his behaviour during his two-decade BBC career.
The new phone line will be live for four weeks from Thursday 20 April until Friday 19 May. The line will be running 24/7 to ensure people are able to come forward with evidence either about Westwood’s conduct or the BBC’s response.

Tim Westwood has been interviewed twice under police caution after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Last year, the DJ was accused of predatory and unwanted sexual behaviour and touching by multiple women.
In a joint investigation by the BBC and The Guardian, seven women – all of whom are Black – spoke about the alleged incidents, which are said to have taken place between 1992 and 2017.
Westwood strenuously denied the allegations at the time, with a spokesperson alleging that the claims were completely false.
On Wednesday (12 April), the Metropolitan Police said officers were investigating five accusations of offences alleged to have happened between 1982 and 2016.
“Police are investigating five reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offences allegedly committed by a man,” their statement read.

Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese are the most famous working directors of the last several decades, but that doesn't mean that they're in competition. In fact, the two filmmakers are fans of each other's work. Spielberg is particularly fond of Scorsese's 1990 mob movie, the widely acclaimed modern classic, "Goodfellas." And who can blame him? What's not to like? But "Goodfellas" is more than just a good movie to Spielberg — it's a master class in directing.
"Henry Hill, Jimmy the Gent, Tommy DeVito, Paulie, Karen, Billy Batts, the Lufthansa heist ... all someone has to do is mention some of these names and I get the sudden and irresistible urge to watch Martin Scorsese's 'Goodfellas' again," the director reminisced in an interview with Variety. “Encanto” star John Leguizamo has signed on to executive produce short film “Triggered” from Tara Westwood.
“Triggered,” which stars Westwood, Isiah Whitlock Jr. (“Da 5 Bloods”), Caitlin Mehner (“Dopesick”) and Robert John Burke (“Law & Order Special Victim’s Unit”), deals with themes of gun violence.
“’Triggered’ is exceptional in that it doesn’t preach and never hits you over the head with a message – but I don’t know how anyone can watch it and not agree that we need to do things differently,” said Leguizamo. “Most Americans, even NRA members, already support basic changes such as improved background checks and this is a conversation that we must have. I’m so excited to be a part of this powerful piece directed and starring Tara Westwood.”

It’s safe to say that Nightdive’s initial release of Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition didn’t go so well. Delays aside, the game sported some questionable design decisions and technical issues. Not to mention that it was plagued with new bugs. So much so that Nightdive offered up the original version of Westwood’s classic point-and-click adventure for those who purchased the Enhanced Edition as compensation.
So why was the game released in such an unfinished state? In a recent interview with PCGamesN, Nightdive’s director of business development, Larry Kuperman, and Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition‘s lead producer, Dimitris Giannakis explain why.
It turns out that the game’s release was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s classic. “The responsibility for the ship date and, in retrospect, the failure to change the ship date resides 100 with me,” explains Kuperman. “The ship date was...

The BBC Board has appointed an independent reviewer to examine concerns regarding DJ Tim Westwood’s conduct during his time with the corporation.
The BBC Board made the decision following an expedited review by the broadcaster’s internal investigations team, which reported to the board’s senior independent director Nick Serota. The BBC has instructed Gemma White QC, supported by the law firm Linklaters, to lead this work.
The 64-year-old Westwood presented shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra between 1994 and 2013. In April, a joint investigation conducted by the BBC and the Guardian brought to light the accounts of seven Black women who alleged sexual touching and sexual misconduct by Westwood between 1992 and 2017. They were featured in the BBC Three documentary, “Tim Westwood: Abuse of Power.”
Serota said: “New allegations and issues are emerging as time passes and more people are prepared to come forward. For this reason the work must continue.

The BBC faces fresh pressure over its handling of complaints into the behaviour of its former long-time DJ Tim Westwood, with the retired judge who led the review into the Jimmy Savile Scandal backing calls for an independent inquiry.
Dame Janet Smith told The Times an impartial figure was required to scrutinise complaints made against the DJ, accused of sexual misconduct by 17 women – all whose claims he denies.
She said: “An independent inquiry is always better than an internal one because, however objective you think you can be, you aren’t, full stop.”
The BBC will shortly release the results of its own internal review into the complaints after director-general Tim Davie – who was previously head of Audio and Music at the corporation, making him Westwood’s ultimate boss for four years – initially asserted that the BBC had seen “no evidence” of the DJ’s alleged behaviour.

The BBC is to spend the coming weeks delivering a review into complaints against disgraced former DJ Tim Westwood and setting out the principles that it believes should apply to a future funding model.

The first, due within a fortnight, will “summarize exactly how we got to where we got” on Westwood, who was recently accused by seven Black women of sexual misconduct, allegations that he denies in their entirety.
Davie has faced tricky questions on the subject after he used an April speech to say the BBC had “seen no evidence of complaints” against Westwood before, several weeks later, the BBC revealed it had in fact received six, including one historic case that was referred to the police. Months after BBC director general Tim Davie said there was “no evidence of complaints,” the BBC has said it has received six complaints against DJ Tim Westwood.
The 64-year-old Westwood presented shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra between 1994 and 2013. Westwood denies all charges. He has stepped down from his show on radio station Capital Xtra until further notice, parent company Global said.
At the time, Davie, who was director of audio and music at the BBC from 2008-2012, had said “we looked at our records and we’ve seen no evidence of complaints” against Westwood.
Davie also said: “Every complaint has to be taken seriously.

The BBC has received six complaints against disgraced DJ Tim Westwood over alleged bullying and sexual misconduct, including a historical one that was referred to the police, revealed just months after Director General Tim Davie said he had “seen no evidence of complaints” against Westwood.
The BBC revealed in the past few minutes that the main case referred to the police was “historic” and “found in its files.”
“We are establishing the facts around it,” added a statement, which said the matter “did not relate to conduct at the BBC, BBC premises, or conduct towards a BBC staff member, nor was it an accusation of physical assault.”
Five other complaints were not referred to the police and the BBC declined to say when they were received, and whether this was after Davie’s April statement.
