Emerging star Lux Pascal, whose credits include Narcos, has joined the cast of Chilean director Alicia Scherson’s next film Summer War.
The co-production reunites Chile’s Araucaria Cine, Le Tiro from Argentina, and Nadador Cine from Uruguay.
Summer War will centre on a US champion of the board game Third Reich whose peaceful summer holiday in 1989 is shattered when a tourist mysteriously disappears at sea.
Scherson is adapting the screenplay from celebrated Chilean author Roberto Bolaño’s novel The Third Reich, which was discovered among his papers following his death in 2010.

"Love in Gravity," a scripted podcast presented by ViiV Healthcare, is a necessary listen. The pod aims to normalize HIV prevention in gay, bi, and trans Latine communities through stories of love, loss, and self-discovery. According to the National Institutes of Health, Latines get new HIV diagnoses three times more often than white, non-Hispanic people - further proof that content like "Love in Gravity" is needed.
The first season opens with a trio of men telling the story of Andrés Soto, voiced by Harvey Guillén, and his journey to discover what love, marriage, and family mean and look like for him. From there, each episode of the first season focuses on a different set of characters and their trials and tribulations.

Pedro Pascal might be the busiest actor in Hollywood - he has two hit TV shows on right now, after all - but his presence at the 2023 Oscars on March 12 had less to do with himself and more to do with supporting his sister. Pedro's sister Javiera Balmaceda is Amazon Studios' head of local originals for Spanish-speaking Latin America, which produced "Argentina, 1985." The movie was up for best international feature at the event.
While on the red carpet, Pedro posed as a proud brother with his older sister, and the pair also took photos with Salma Hayek and her daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault. During the ceremony, Pedro had the honor of presenting with Elizabeth Olsen, who attended the ceremony with husband Robbie Arnett.

Santiago, Chile — The much anticipated feature debut of Chilean Francisca Alegria, renowned for her magical short “And the Whole Sky Fit in the Dead Cow’s Eye,” has firmed up its cast and shooting dates.
Argentine thesp Mia Maestro (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”), Chile’s Leonor Varela, Alfredo Castro and rising talent Lucas Balmaceda (“The Prince”) lead the cast.
Inspired by her short, a Sundance sensation where it snagged the Short Film Jury Award in 2017, Alegria’s upcoming feature, “The Cow that Sang a Song About the Future” adapts a similar magical realist tone in a family drama set in the verdant countryside of Valdivia, southern Chile.
Varela plays a single mother, Cecilia, who returns to her childhood home with her 19-year-old son (Balmaceda) where she faces a series of surreal events, including the deaths of hundreds of cows and the reappearance of her long dead mother (Maestro), whose suicide profoundly marked the family.
